After driving for hours my friend and I were desperate for a break and nourishment before returning to more driving. This was a wonderful random choice! The menu is great and the service was fast and friendly. I had the simple rarebit and the bread was incredible. My friend had the chicken and mushroom pie and mentioned several times how perfect the flavors were. The mashed potatoes were delicious! If I ever return to the area, I absolutely will be back. The décor is great, too. And who doesn’t love a Scottish accent?

A tasty and delightful Scottish pub planted in the middle of a small Vermont town. This place has an interesting menu with lots of unique delights such as the«Bangers and Mash»(sausage with mashed potatoes), a variety of pot pies, «Mince and Tatties,» and a variety of other Scottish cuisine. I ordered the Bangers and Mash, while my wife ordered the chicken pot pie. Our server was very pleasant and was happy to get us teas as well. We ate on the outside patio which was quaint and simple, while the inside was decked out in all sorts of Scottish memorabilia with a nice dark-er Scottish pub feel. The mashed potatoes were delicious and the sausages were decent. The gravy was good. I enjoyed our quick lunch break here and would be happy to return.

This is my wife and Is usual haunt in town. It is wonderful. A great place to meet good local people. The food is pretty good. the drinks are well priced as much as they can for a tourist trap town and the service is great. Allan the owner is a very nice man full of interesting conversation. The porch is amazing to have a drink on when its warm outside. All around 5 stars in a town that is mostly 3 stars for many places.

Stopped by for an early lunch. Went in and was told they had to clean the floors. Waited for a few minutes in the cold and the consensus was to leave. Why wouldn’t you clean the floors before opening time.

The Steak Pie and Chicken Pie are wonderful. Broccoli and cheese soup was tasty. Best mashed potatoes around. I am disappointed that fries can’t be ordered with a burger or sandwich, only potato chips. The nachos need some work.

Amazing pub! It’s a must if your in southern Vermont. Cool vibe with lots of interesting interior decoration and a great bar. The owner Alan is very kind. Recommend the haggis with the neeps and tatties, a couple of Belhaven ales, and a peanut butter pie for dessert Sláinte

MacLaomainn’s Scottish Pub is THEBEST and most authentic Scottish pub I’ve yet to find. The owners are kind and hilarious… sitting at the bar makes for a VERY fun time. I had the Bangers and Mash; I’ve never eaten them before, but I can tell you I haven’t tasted another that even came close to rivaling MacLaomainn’s. This pub is three hours away from me… close enough to jump in the car for a road trip for some great food, Jameson on the rocks and a good time! Highly recommended! Heading up again soon!

Great atmosphere and even better food, especially the more traditional Scottish dishes. I get the bangers and mash and my husband gets the steak pie every time we go and we can’t get enough of it.

I have been to this pub several times while visiting. I always enjoy the food, even though we usually wait a bit for it finally arrive. The pub serves a bunch of fun Scottish dishes, and a few classics. Every time I have been, it has been with a group of 6+. This really seems to throw them. The food always takes a really long time(yesterday 40 minutes before it came) and as we are always told it is busier than expected, and there is only one chef in the kitchen. But I admit, the food is worth the wait, and since I am usually with family I do not see all the time, I am happy for the family time. The décor is a wonderfully rustic room that looks like a conversion from an old Vermont farm house. It is comfortable, tastefully adorned with Scottish items, and a few winter Vermont items. It is really sweet inside. If you feel like you are missing a game while traveling, or skiing. Chances are, it is on the flat screen hanging over the bar. My tip, not a great place for a large groups in the main bar/dining room area. But a wonderful place to hang with some friendly locals, and enjoy some good food, and they have an awesome beer list.

Very cool authentic Scottish pub. The bartender has a Scottish accent and sense of humor. We asked him where they got the a «Dirty Penny» sword that was mounted over a door. He said… «Olde Burnside Brewery»…[obviously. ] I ordered a cup of the soup of the day which was pea soup. It was very flavorful but had an almost tiny granular consistency. There was plenty of bits of real bacon and had a dash of garlic flavor and black pepper. I got the Scotch Egg which is on the Starter part of the menu. It comes with a generous, rich salad that has real, greens, diced red peppers. I got the balsamic vinaigrette which had an interesting viscosity. My fiancé ordered the plate of bangers and mash. The sausage comes from a local market and the gravy was rich with slivers of delicious rendered fat. My beverage was an amazingly creamy black and tan made with«Belhaven Black stout» They will also provide you with the wi-fi password if you ask . I bought a pair of the artfully concoted socks that they sell to help facilitate the sales of the snowboarder who sustained a traumatic injury in 2009. They are«comfy chillin’ socks» with a watermelon color scheme.

We have been going to this place for years, everytime we head to VT. The food is fantastic in my opinion and my personal favorite is the chicken and mushroom puff pastry pie. Pros: Great quality food, inexpensive, unique atmosphere and menu. A great scottish sampling on the menu. Our server even wore his kilt. Though this is a pub, it is very family friendly. My kids love the angus burger and grill cheese. They also decorate for the holidays and for halloween have a very fun atmosphere. Cons: I wish I lived closer. Thats it, I love this place!

Excellent all around. I think I’ve eaten here 6 – 7 times when visiting town, and always happy with the food and beer. My kids like the nachos, chili, and baked potatoes. Staff is friendly, easy parking, good desserts.

There was a bad accident on I-91 and closed down the southbound lane, so my wife and I had to get off the interstate. Sorry for the wreck, but glad we happened upon MacLaomainn’s Scottish Pub for lunch as a result. Having visited Scotland last year and could not even find a Scotch egg during our visit there, we were pleasantly surprised to find them on the menu at MacLaomainn’s. Very good for a starter! For a main dish I had the meat pie and Mary had the chicken mushroom pie. Both entrée’s were very good. I also had the Scottish Stout and Mary had the Old Engine Oil beer. Both were from Scotland and very good! Dined on the outside deck which was very pleasant for summer. The inside was very British Isle’s feeling and I was sorry we could not stay for another drink. Still had a few hours drive ahead of us. The woman who waited on us was very nice and wore a kilt. Nice touch. There were many other offerings on the menu that I wish I could have tried if we were staying in the area. Next time for sure. Not too many Scottish places to eat anywhere and it’s worth the stop! I even had my Edinburgh shirt on by chance. Must have been karma!

Love this place. Who would have thought yours find a Scottish pub in Vermont. Great Pub atmosphere and authentic Scottish dishes. Some outdoor seating for a nice evening. Sports are generally on the TV. It’s a small place, maybe 10 tables and a bar for about 8 folks. Friendly atmosphere, so come by and check it out.

Excellent food and beer selection. Perfect stop for the way home from skiing. Hometown feel. Exceeds expectations! Having forgotten our packed dinner for the drive home from Okemo to CT, we happened upon this Scottish pub in Chester and decided to give it a try! We were so lucky to stumble upon this place! We settled at the bar and chose from a selection of Scottish brews that the barman walked us through. I chose the Twisted Thistle and my boyfriend opted for the a flight of Scottish beers as he could not decide! It was fun to explore(and get mad badges in UnTapped!) On top of the friendly atmosphere(everyone at the bar was SO nice!), the burgers we ordered were straight up delicious! Everything came out piping hot and was seasoned beautifully. I cannot wait to stop by again! I love this place!

Stopped here during a road trip because who wouldn’t want to go to a traditional Scottish Pub? The food was great and everyone in my group agreed. We all tried something we’d never had before and everyone love it. The portions were generous, which was perfect for hungry snowboarders. We did have a mixed up where they brought another table’s food to us because we ordered nearly the same items, but quickly hurried back and asked if anyone had touched the food yet. We hadn’t so they took wrong food away and within minutes returned with the correct order. All our food was hot and fresh, so no complaints on that part. My group also enjoyed a few of the different Scottish beers and they all receive a big thumbs up. We would absolutely return here again.

«Don’t be scared, get the haggis» An authentic Scottish pub is harder to find than one might think, and in rural Vermont no less. But Maclomainns is the real deal. Been there a few times. The beer selection, in both taps and drafts, is all Scottish beers that you’ve likely never had before, and there’s something for everyone. My latest visit, in which I entered extremely hungry, is the reason for this glowing review. Actually it was due to just two things I ordered — the loaded baked potato soup dujour, and raspberry cheesecake desert. The soup: piping hot, so cheesy, generously peppered with pieces of ham and bacon… a revelation. The dessert: a slice so homemade, it was cut in a shape that was definitely not an isosceles triangle. If this random app and dessert was so good, I can only imagine that the rest of the menu is. Really glad I ate here, will definitely be back.
