I had an enjoyable lunch here. The meat was tender and I especially liked the bread and olives that came before the meal. The meal was fairly inexpensive too.

Stopped by on a wim and glad we did. I had their Doner Lamb husband had Chicken Sish Kebab. Both were Great. Service was good but Chef Ramsey would explode if he saw the interior of this place. it was clean but needs serious décor SOS.

Had the chicken shish kebab. Huge portions and super delicious! Hummus was tasty too! Not much traffic for a Friday night. Limited kids menu.

Had lunch here today. As others mentioned, it’s tucked back into the shopping center without a direct route. If you turn in by Patient First and then take the first left after Patient First, you’ll get there(faces the main street). They immediately brought out fresh bread with olive oil. The bread was warm and had a great taste to it. Had to force myself to stop eating it so I wouldn’t spoil the rest of my lunch. Also had a falafal and hummus appetizer, which was enjoyable. The falafel was a little chunkier than I’d had in the past but was crispy and went well with the house hummus. The lamb was good, marinated chunks of lamb meat that were cooked quite well. That said, it was the rice side dish that stole the show for me and I’m no where near being a vegetarian. Not sure of the last time I had a basic rice dish that was so tasty. The place was nearly empty at 11:30 am and the service was good. Anatolia is a bit of a drive from where I live but would recommend if you are in the area.

I want to start by saying the food was delicious. It really was. But the atmosphere was horrible. It was dim and cluttered. The floor was filthy. The booth seat kept moving which was not only uncomfortable but it kept showing this horrific build up of grime between the booth cushion and the wall. The plating was awful and our cups were covered in some sort of dirty grime. Again, the food tasted amazing but I won’t be going back.

Whew! It’s been a while since we last visited this establishment, but my wife wanted falafel and this is the only place in a reasonable distance that offers it. My take on this place is not much different than the one written in 2009. So this go around, I will offer the pros and cons version. Pros: A sense you are in for something special with the warm pita they serve. It is just incredible. The falafel was huge and had a different flavor than elsewhere and even in comparison to the last time we visited here. The hummus was creamy, tasty and was a nice addition to the falafel. The server was attentive, but not obtrusive. No good, not bad: The quality of tthe rice has gone down significantly. There was nothing terribly wrong with it, other than it really had no flavor. The side salad was equally non-descript. Largely cabbage and lettuce in an overly dressed sauce. We had an appetizer that was supposed to be pan fried eggplant in a tomato based sauce. While it had the taste of eggplant in it. It was chopped very small and really was not much more than a dipping sauce for the pita. Bad: Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Not sure why I expected the moussaka to be different this go around, but, sadly wasn’t. If you want to see what it should look like, just search Google. What they serve here is nothing but meat in less than stellar tomato based sauce. With a kid’s meal, two sodas and a milk, the bill was just north of $ 40 bucks. A bit steep for great pita and one good meal! I gave it 3 stars based on my wife being happy with her meal, as was my son and for the pita. Deducted stars for a unsatisfying moussaka and a price point that should be reserved for a better meal.

We had to check this out after reading other reviews, and diversity like Turkish Mediterranean in Chester is rare. Absolutely agree, this is great food. We had the large cold appetizer plate, great combination of 5 with warm bread for dipping, hummus, hadari(like greek tatziki), mummara(spicier, hotter), saksuka(chunks of eggplant, sweeter), and babaganush and a stuffed grape leaf too. Hands down the best hummus we have had, and big enough for a dinner. We should have ordered smaller. On to the entrée, a mixed grill for my hubby(huge plate) and the falafel with hummus, salad, and rice for me. All tasty and more that we could eat, we had to get go-boxes. No way we could get dessert, even though we would have liked to try it. Definately we will return, and have a smaller orders. First-timers though, how do you get there? It’s easy to see from Iron Bridge Road, but there is only one entrance to their parking lot and it’s not obvious. From Chakley Road, turn left as if you were heading to American Family or Patient First. DON’T turn left into Patient First, take the very next left, I know it just looks like an access road to the back of the building but that is it, with the yellow curb paint. If you see the Firestone you went too far! The owner and chief agrees, he needs a sign, he tried to put one up and the county fussed at him so no sign.

Two classmates and I were finishing up a long term care visit at a nursing home in Chester, and we had carpooled, so since one of us had not had lunch, we decided to grab a bite to eat at 3:30PM before heading back to Richmond. We didn’t know where to go, but after a quick Unilocal search, we decided to try Anatolia Grill. Best decision ever. We had a little trouble finding the restaurant because it was tucked away in its shopping center behind the main area, with the parking lot somewhat sectioned off behind some trees. We called the restaurant and the owner gave us some driving directions. We were so glad that we didn’t give up, because the food here was worth the trouble finding the restaurant! None of us had had much Turkish food before, so we opted to try several dishes. I wasn’t particularly hungry, so I just ordered the mixed cold appetizer, a lemonade, and a dessert(kunefe). My two friends ordered chicken and lamb. All of the food was super delicious! The house bread was fresh out of the oven and crispy too! I loved all of the flavors and textures. The kunefe was a bit sweet for me, but I loved all of the pistachios and the cheese was perfect. In addition to the great food, we had a phenomenal waitress who refilled my lemonade several times, even before I had finished my glass. I was extremely thirsty that afternoon, so I drank three cups. She even offered to let me take a cup to-go, which I graciously accepted, bringing my lemonade tally up to four full glasses. :P She took the time to explain the menu to Turkish food newbies, and checked on us frequently. Overall, she was simply a pleasure and friendly to talk to. The owner also came by at the end of our meal and thanked us for our patronage. He seems like a nice guy! This is such a fantastic restaurant that I am tempted to make the drive back for the food, despite the fact that it is kind of far away!

This is a place my father and I love to go. It is probably one of the best places to get lamb in the Richmond Metro area.

Granted, I have not had much of this style of food before — I am down to try any kind of food once. Seriously. Walking in, the atmosphere was fairly depressing for lunch. There was just one other table occupied, but no matter — the girlfriend raved about the hummus here — and I was down to give it a shot. The wait staff(one person) was very friendly, and attentive. As they probably should be considering there was just one other table to watch over. We were greeted with some piping hot bread, and our hummus,(Muhammara Dip) which was REALLY delicious, actually. I’d go here again SOLELY for that dip. The actual entrée, on the other hand, was a bit less desirable. I had some lamb, in what tasted like marinara sauce. The consistency and taste reminded me of … baby food. Straight. Up. Baby. Food. Again, I am just an amateur to Turkish food, and for all I know — the Turks may enjoy their Gerber selections, but for me, it just didn’t really cut it. And I didn’t understand the cold cabbage side dish that came with the meal, either. Was this to be treated as a salad? Is this pretty standard for Turkish restaurants? I didn’t even touch it, honestly.

Great unknown restaurant in Chester, Va. I love to go during my lunch breaks. There’s free wifi and I can curl up with my laptop and dig into some tasty Turkish food. I highly recommend the falafel with hummus as well as the Muhammara Dip. They bring a basket of pipping hot bread to each table and my friends and I can barely wait until it cools to dig into the spicy dip. I love, love the cabbage side dish that comes with any of the meal platters!

Well I’ve been looking at all the reviews on here about this restaurant and wanted to try it. Now my wife didn’t look to happy with my suggestion of it, as she likes American food only. So off we go to the Anatolia Grill and when we arrived at the restaurant it didn’t look to busy. And when we walked in we were greeted and seated. Now our waiter came right over to the table and gave us menus and ask if we would like to order our drinks. So I ordered a Pepsi and my wife a unsweet tea. Now comes the part where the wife tries to find some American food on the menu. So not finding none she asked our waiter and he explained everything on menu to her. Now that is what I call some good service to explain all of that to her, he is working up a damn good tip! So now she is ready to order and decided on the chicken doner kebab. Now I chose the mixed grill which contains chicken doner kebab, adana kebab, chicken shish kebab, and lamb shish kebab. And both of our plates come with a Anatolia salad which has mix greens, lettuce, tomato, cucumber, red cabbage, carrots with vinegar, olive oil and lemon juice. So they bring us our bread and olive oil and it is nice and hot and yummy. But of course my wife wants butter and our fine waiter delivers on the spot. Now our food arrives and wow a lot of food as you can see in the pictures. As I go through my assortment of food it is all delicious and prepared well. And the salad was loaded with red cabbage and was equally delicious. Now my wife is not impressed as she picks at her food. But I kinda expected that as the food is not traditional American food. My wife is a sight eater if it sounds strange or looks strange she not going to eat it or try it. So I boxed it up so I can eat it later. Now on to dessert my wife got the crème caramel and I the baklava. Once again our fine waiter returns and tells me they also have chocolate baklava. Now I have not encountered this before so of course I said bring it on. So our waiter brings our sweet treats and my wife’s is a custard with caramel all over it and is very rich. And mine is oohhh sooo goood baklava with a hint of chocolate in it is just fabulous. This restaurant is about the best I’ve eaten at anywhere. The people that work here will take the time to explain any of their offerings. As we were eating a table next to us wanted to know about the Turkish beers. So some one from behind the counter comes over with the beers and explains them. So if you want a good meal and outstanding services this is the place and if Deven waits on you you are in good hands.

We saw the great reviews of this place, and a salesman also recommended it, so we had to give it a try. WOW! Great food and friendly service! We had the hummus as an appetizer, and we split the mixed grill as an entrée. Both types of lamb were our favorites, and the chicken was very good, too. We loved the fresh bread for dipping in hummus. I was also happy with their house pinot grigio, which was very good and only $ 5 a glass. We will definitely go back!

This place is awesome! The food is fresh, they serve you fresh baked bread, and you can indulge in Turkish brews. The service is fast and polite, the manager makes his rounds making sure everyone is enjoying their meal. Ordering take out is a painless process, you call and it’s ready in about fifteen minutes, so it’s a good place for a quick and quality meal. If I can recommend one thing it would be the Moussaka, it’s tasty and fun to say.

My sister and I dined there yesterday afternoon. The food was wonderful!!! I had the doner lamb and my sister had the chicken shish kebab. Both were delicious. The chicken was very moist and flavorful. We also had the falafel/hummus appetizer which was also very good. The only down side was the time spent waiting. Our waitress was extemely nice but it seemed she was overwhelmed by other things and had to be reminded of extras on our order. Overall I liked the experience and would recommend it to anyone. Just make sure you have time(on a Sunday) to spend a little longer over your meal.

One of my favorite places to eat. It takes a little effort to get around to the front door but worth the trip for some delicious Turkish food. We’ve always been greeted immediately by genuinely pleasant staff. On our first visit they took the time to explain the foods to us since we never had Turkish food before. If you’re not sure get the mixed grill. It’s enough for two to share. It has a little of everything and it’s delicious. Their baklava is the best around. Very fresh. If they have the fruit filled baklava when you’re there don’t miss it!

I really wanted to give this 5 stars, because Mustafa the owner is awesome and the food was spectacular… but we went there with a large party, and the waitress was downright mean to us. She demanded our orders before we were ready, she shouted throughout, and was generally gruff and abrasive. I’ve never had such bad service in my life. She rushed us through the entire meal and then started bleach-mopping the floor while we were drinking our tea… I get that she wanted to go home, but it would have been more polite to just tell us that she wanted to go home. Anyway, the food was great, the owner was fantastic, we had a lovely time… except anytime we talk about it, we laugh about how bad the service was. Oh well. Maybe next time we’ll ask for a different waitress.

I live in San Jose, CA but I was raised in Richmond, VA and frequently visit my parents here in Chester. Every time I visit I make it a point to visit this restaurant at least once. We have many Mediterranean/Turkish restaurants in the Bay Area but the food here is better than most of those. At this point I’ve tried almost everything on the menu and can easily recommend everything. Fresh baked bread, fresh ingredients, and consistently high quality makes for one great little restaurant. The only thing to be aware of would be that it can be a little difficult to find(most treasures are). Do yourself a favor and get the cold sampler plate as an appetizer. The owner creates fantastic versions of all the classic items on this plate. For dessert, absolutely get the kenefe! Yes, they have the traditional baklava and it’s very good here but this dessert beats it by a mile and it’s one I’ve never seen elsewhere. Apparently it’s a traditional dessert but I’ve never seen it in a restaurant and it’s amazingly delicious. Being from Richmond, I realize that many people in this area have an American-centric palate but if you’re tired of barbeque and fast food and want something new but incredible, definitely try this place. I travel 3000 miles to come eat here… oh and to visit my parents. :) UPDATE: Sadly the grill is closed(once again proving that Richmond, much less Chester, isn’t the place for new things) and I understand the owner/chef temporarily helps out a new location which is more focused on pizza. Haven’t been there so I can’t comment yet.
