Waffle House

This location is clean and efficient. I start there because some of the Waffle Houses in Hampton Roads are filfthy. Every time I go to this location, my food is prepared correctly and fast. The staff is very pleasant. As a chef myself, I don’t always have time for a good breakfast, and they make sure I eat well.

This Waffle House has it going on. Arrived into town at 3am and tried 3 other places to find s cup of coffee. This tiny little, kind of dirty looking place served me amazing food. They were slightly busy and the 1 cook had it down to a scientific routine to serve up an amazing breakfast in no time. Never been so happy that ihop and Denny’s were closed Because I never would have found this place otherwise. And as amazing as the food was the experience of sitting at the counter watching the lady work her magic with the food.

People can say what they want about Waffle House but reality is that this place is a good breakfast joint. It’s not high class, it’s fast, greasy, and probably not healthy. I hear horror stories from people and their Waffle House experience and I have never even come close to that type of experience. Honestly I doubt have the people who have anything bad to say about WH have never been. It’s a diner a greasy spoon, and it’s pretty good.

Excellent service. Delicious food. A clean restaurant with friendly and courteous staff. I would recommend this place to friends and family.

It’s a Waffle House, so not expecting anything fancy. Food was good and hot. Don was a good server and made sure I was taken care of.

We used to live in this specific area and we were ALWAYS eating here! We occasionally find ourselves back in the area and have no problem eating here. Service is always on point and the food is always on point. Never had a complaint about the quality OR the quantity you get from this location. I actually wish they could somehow just move this location and it’s workers to the one out here where we now reside but I know that’s impossible. Oh well. If it helps we always get the all star breakfast. Everything comes out fine and tastes great. Good place to eat that won’t eat a hole in your wallet.

I like Waffle House but I can never call my order in because the phone is ALWAYS off the hook. HANG the phone up so that other people can call in to-​go orders. I’d rather call in an order at another location than continue to drive to this one just to tell them to hang their phone up and order in person.

Food was amazing our server mrs pat really made us feel welcome. Great customer service! But we couldn’t help but over look the cook. First off he was trying to clean up and grabbed multiple broken egg shells with his gloves then proceeded to grab a filthy rag and wiped the counter and the waffle maker, not changing his gloves. Overall service 5 stars but lack of sanitation brings my experience down to 3 stars.

Worst waffle house I been too. The bacon and my hash browns were barely cooked. I would have sent it back but I got it to go. Never coming back to this location.

Ok– this is just a Waffle House, but this review is about our overall experience there and in this little town in Virginia.
We were driving through from OBX back to NYC and needed to stop for lunch, to change our son’s diaper and to try to feed him before we hit the road again. Our son has special needs and feeding him in public is not our favorite thing, as he absolutely hates eating and will scream and hit himself through the whole process, especially if in a noisy place like a waffle house… but we had to eat and he had to eat, so there we were.
The waitresses were very nice there and asked about our son, made sure we were comfortable while we waited for a seat and took very good care of us. The food was exactly what you expect, and did it’s job.
About halfway through our meal, my son screaming away, the waitress comes and takes our check and says that another table is paying for our lunch. We were a little stunned…
On their way out the couple stopped by our table and the guy says to me that he has a ton of respect for parents of special need kids and that even though he’s not a spiritual man, he knows that we were put on earth to take care of our son. With that he said «Welcome to Virginia»
In other places (I’m looking at you NY) you would have spent the meal being judged by the other parents, or hear grumbles from nonparents about loud kids, but there we got a much needed lift in the middle of a long long day.

Jeez, I love me some Waffle House! My nephew is the only one who will fight for my needs, so I always wait until he’s in town. Not only do you get a pretty good breakfast, but you have the additional value of entertainment provided by the other customers (some days are more entertaining than others!). My favorite is the pecan waffles, but you really should get a side of hash browns as well because they are fabulous! You need to be specific about how you want your food (cooked well, crispy, or not).
Don’t think you’re gettin’ anything fancy here, cuz you’re not! Just order up and enjoy!

My first meal in Virginia after a 6 hour flight. This was at 12−1am & was really hungry do to the lack of food on the plane so I was ready to eat anything. This was my first time trying Waffle House. The grits are very buttery & the grilled biscuit w/​jelly was mehh. I was afraid if my cheese omelet was undercooked because it was really soft & I had a small stomach ache ~12 hrs later… not sure if it had to do anything with it. Overall the meal was ok. As for the cleanliness/​look of the restaurant, I’d say it was mehh– I didn’t like it. My sister needed to go to the bathroom but immediately ran out due to the smell. consider the fact that it was ~1 o’clock in the morning. Think it’d be fine to try waffle house out. it’s not a favorite.

I’ve never been to a Waffle House during the day. I’m exclusively here after going to a few bars in downtown Norfolk. There’s normally a decent amount of people here but the counter is usually empty.
I think the best place to eat at Waffle House is the counter. You’ll get your food right away, and you can keep an eye on the cooks too.
My usual order is hamsteak with eggs and a triple order of hashbrowns smothered, covered, and diced. Even though they slap cheese on the hashbrowns they still come out crispy. Just make sure you ask for it that way.
As far as cleanlines goes, I’ve never sat at a table so I can’t report on that front. But the counter is always clean. Restrooms are what you’d expect at 2am.
Which is not clean…

I went here for an after hours breakfast food break. It was fairly crowded for a Saturday Night and has a typical diner feel to it. I did not feel like driving very far and was in the area so this was the lucky winner.
«The Good»
— A decent selection of fast food. I have only had breakfast food here and settled in on the Bacon Egg and Cheese on Texas Toast.
— Its not a fancy restaurant and they do not try to be. Just some fast food and they are open late.
— The chefs have some skills and move a ton of food on a few burners and a small flattop.
— Real Cherry Coke. The kind where they put the cherry mix in before the coke — Outstanding! They have other flavors as well, but since I rarely drink soda or at least try to match with the water intake this is some good stuff.
— Juke Box. Although I have rarely seen one being used at a Waffle House, they have one and it is on autoplay every once in a while so you get some background music.
«The Meh»
— The packet of Mayo I get with my Bacon Egg and Cheese. I am Anti-​Mayo as it is… but even if I was all about it, there would be absolutely none on the Bacon Egg and Cheese. Plus, God only knows how many people do the same thing I do, and take it off the plate and leave it on the table to be recycled again and again.
— I like it for what it is, I don’t love the chain and know that there is better, but it is consistent and I know what I am getting.
«The Bad»
— The fact they charge you an extra take out fee, I think it is a $ 1.25. I know times are tough, but does the plastic carrier really cost that much that you would pass those costs on to me. Plus, Isn’t beneficial that the people are getting orders to go and shouldn’t you support that by leaving the limited seating that you have open for even more customers?

I love this Waffle House location, because it has better waiters than at the other locations. It was the closest to my mother’s home and I loved going there all the time. The waiters knew my order by heart — grilled chicken sandwich, double hash brown, and sweetened iced tea. yum. They are fast servers, too.
