Best computer service I’ve ever had. Extremely knowledgeable and professional. Took my computer in to them in the morning and got it back that afternoon. Microsoft support told me I’d have to reinstall the OS but Providence fixed it without having to do that!

DONTCOMEHERE ! They draw you in with a nice new clean store, visiting the area my computer had a simple issue . First off I can’t recall his name, but the guy working that night his appearance was very sloppy and what was up with his hair? Was he wearing a ridiculous wig or just don’t care about appearance. Anyways, I showed him what was wrong … It seemed to me, basically sounded confused. he couldn’t give me a quote or estimate. Wait I’m suppose to hand over my computer ? No thank you . please stay away from this place, unless you wanna get ripped off.

Started to build my own personal gaming computer and searched every where for a local store that sold parts. After doing some research I couldn’t find any place. Talked to a fellow Co-worker and he informed me of Providence Computers. He claimed that they had the parts I would need and at a great price if not equal to. So I went to Providence Computers for a Samsung 850EVO500gb because Best Buy nor hhGreg didn’t have the items. The place had a steady flow of customers, handled one at a time. It was surely timely waiting for your turn but the time came after three other customers were taken cared of. I asked the clerk behind the desk if they price match at all, because after looking around waiting for my turn I noticed that they were a bit expensive. Not big deal! This is a local business — surely they will lower the price to accept a price match. Sadly, they didn’t even try. The Samsung 850EVO500GB is only $ 175 online, add shipping you are hitting around $ 180-$ 200. They selling it for $ 20+ Glanced at other products and all are being sold for around 20% more than items are sold online. Best Buy price matches, Newegg does, hhGreg does, pretty much every place but here I suppose. I gladly turned around and gave the money to Amazon who would gladly take my $ 180 and the product will be here in two days or less. Recommendation: If you need a part right away, go to Providence Computers, although you will be paying more for being impatient. Other than that, shop online on either Newegg, Amazon, and Best Buy who price matches to their competitors or for less. Thank you Providence Computers at losing a first time and possibly recurring customer with friends.

Big mistake coming to this place, and Im regretting every minute of it. They put on a nice front, bible verses on the invoice, even initial communication is pleasant because they will give you an estimate of the work and how long it might take. I knew what was needed when I came to the store to get my computer fixed and they were supposed to do only that. When i had my computer returned to me i had more issues than i did before i brought it in. I took it back the next day and was told we did what we were supposed to do but ill be happy to take it back and see what else is wrong with it. Of course they would say that and hit me with another 130 dollar bill. I despise places like this, greedy and untrustworthy. I thought supporting a local business like this would do some good. That maybe i would get better service and not just a bunch of crooks breaking your stuff to get an extra buck. Stick to geek squad or any other business than this. I will be reporting them to the BBB to get this situation resolved.

Update: Providence computers contacted us and apologized for our bad experience and offered us a gift card for our hassle. I appreciate their commitment to customer satisfaction, though wish they would have handled the situation better prior to the bad review I gave. Since then they have been very helpful.

Dropped off a laptop here recently for some power issues. They ran it through some tests, took it apart, and couldn’t find anything wrong with it. When they put it back together, it worked fine and I was only charged for an hour of service. Technicians were knowledgeable and courteous, both on the phone and in person. Price seems a bit high, but the service was excellent, and I’ve never really tried to price out computer service. Looked like they had a decent selection of used and new parts, but I didn’t really have time to look around. These guys are across from the Farm Fresh on Volvo and Kempsville. One more thing, we noticed the paper placemats at Athens pizza on the corner of Kempsville and Centreville has a coupon for service at Providence Computers in one corner. So, get a gyro or a pizza then get your service.
