This placed has closed down anyways, but I want to inform people about one thing, as I am Greek who grew up in Greece and came to the US in the age of 18. Being here for over 20 years now I can confidently say THEREISNOSUCHTHINGASGOODAUTHENTICGREEKFOODINMASSACHUSETTS. PERIOD! If you want good authentic greek food you have to go to New York, Chicago, Montréal or Toronto. I have tried them all and I cannot find any good greek food or restaurant in Massachusetts. If you really know Greek food like I do, my recommendation would be to try out places in Toronto and Montréal when you are visiting. Even the Greek restaurants in Astoria New York, which use to be quite good are going down hill. Everyone keeps raving about Gyro. It is not authentic! It is strips of processed meat. The way they make processed meat, is grind up the left over parts of the lamb. The real Gyro deal is made by stacking real sliced leg of lamb on a stand up roticery and have it slow cook. No one does that, because it is time consuming, it costs a lot and for some odd reason it doesn’t really sell and owners end up trashing it and loosing money. That’s how it’s done. The Souvlakis they serve here are served with large beef chunks. First of all if you go to Greece and order souvlaki with beef they will laugh at you. Souvlaki is mainly made out of pork and sometimes lamb and not beef. All the other food they have in Greek restaurants like the pastitsios, the mousakas, the cheese and spinach pies are pre-made, and in many cases have been sitting refrigerated for many days. When they get an order they grab a piece from fridge and microwave it. No my idea of fresh food. The only things that are made to order are things that go on the fire grill and things that go in the frier.

The best moussaka I ever ate. Better than Diana’s «Opah» Restaurant in Chicago. We used to frequent Evzon when my wife lived in Chelmsford, but only got back there a few times after we got married and moved to Maine.

I grew up in the area but never ate here until very recently. The location, frankly, is awful, so I figured the food wouldn’t be great either, but I was totally wrong. I’m Greek-American, my family cooks a lot of Greek food — proudly, loudly, and in great quantities — and I cook it too. So I can tell when Greek food is tepid and/or came out of a tin and/or and/or Americanizes the recipes — read: makes them bland. Evzon does not do any of these things. Honestly, it was good! Not just in comparison to what I was expecting, but in general. I was so surprised by what I tasted here, it was above what I’d had compared to other Greek places in Lowell, quite honestly. The dolmades I had were fantastic in a thick avgolemono sauce and clearly hand-made(not out of a tin and dressed up, which other places will sometimes try to pass off onto customers — shame on them!) and the spanakopita was, gotta say, very likely a traditional family recipe, which is rare. It breaks my heart that this place was really dead when I got there and I have to wonder about the location not doing it any favors. And that, truly, is a shame. The food here is far better and more authentic than at least one of the more ‘famous’ Greek restaurants in downtown Lowell, in my humble opinion. Long and short of it? The food here is legitimately good and authentic. Don’t let the location/appearances put you off. As most others have noted, it is worth repeat visits.

Best Gyro in the area, by far. I have gone here since I was a kid, and I am SO glad that they are still in business. Authentic, delicious greek food. The ambiance leaves a bit to be desired. things are old and worn, plastic covers on the tables. you know the kind! But to me, it doesn’t matter. The food is always hot, fresh, and a sure-fire party for your taste buds! Definitely try the gyro, uvetsi, and spinach pie… and be sure to grab some baklava on the way out, it’s divine!

Not going back there EVERAGAIN. They f’d up the order(got lamb instead of chicken) and it wasn’t bad tasting, but when we ever so politely mentioned the mistake to the waitress, she was a royal BITCH about it. No apology, no nothing. Bitch. The salad was terrible. You know when iceberg lettuce goes bad and it gets lots and lots of brown veins in it? Well, this was really bad like that and they covered it up with way to much Greek dressing to try to hide it. Why was the waitress such a sour bitch?

UPDATE: the restaurant is closed now. I live nearby and like this place a LOT. We do takeout a lot when the in-laws are visiting, and they are so great with my kids when we pick up. The UVetsi is my favorite, but everything I’ve had is fantastic. Moussaka especially. Mmm. Now that I’m writing this all out, I think we’ll be headed there tonight.

everytime in chelmsford gotta make a pit stop at evzon. who’d ever think this place would have good food. it basically looks like a casual dinner kinda place. they make great soups. and the leg of lamb is superb. it is slow cooked so that the meat just melts off the bone. really nice people working here too.

A friend took me here to lunch. It looked like a cross between a Greek diner and a Mom & Pop dinner place so I didn’t have high expectations. I was pleasantly surprised. Not knowing Greek food, my friend ordered for me. We each got lentil soup and shared 3 lunch dishes: grape leaves in a yummy sauce, moussaka, and pastichio. At least I think that is what they were called. It was also obvious that the meals were made on the premises and not frozen and reheated like lots of restaurants do now-a-days. I can honestly say everything that we got for lunch was fantastic. Their service was fairly standard for a family type establishment(a tad slow) and I had no complaints. I would definitely go there again. I’ll try dinner next time.

We were pretty underwhelmed with Evzon. Maybe it was an off night, or maybe we didn’t order the right food, but we really felt it was barely a cut above cafeteria food.

Service was teenage-girl shy. Gyro meat okay, pita okay, tzatziki lame. Salad lame. Greek family pictures, but… Not to mean, but maybe the owner should visit another greek restaurant, one that’s been highly rated, packed with people.

Fresh bread, great appetizers, Greek beer, large selection of entrees(Greek and non). This is a gem, but there was a sparse crowd. I hope it’s busier at other times. This place rates a return trip.
