I have been coming here off and on for years. It is one of the only places in the area which has a salad bar which I sometimes have a a craving for. On the positive side their desserts are wonderful– I think they are all homemade. Also I always have great service. The only negative is that their prices are high. $ 10.99 for a salad bar? I was in yesterday and the lettuce looked kinda brownish and not so fresh … Some of the other items didn’t look so great either. My advise is that they need to lower their prices on everything by about $ 2 – 3. To be honest I think the next time I’m craving salad bar I’ll drive to Olympia. This place could be so much better. It just kinda seems like whoever owns this place is is kinda not really into it– and it shows

I’ve been enamored with Spiffy’s for fifteen years or so. I always stop there when I drive between Seattle and the Bay Area and have eaten there many times, but the last handful of stops I hadn’t stayed to eat and just picked up a pie. Pro Tip: they charge you for the Pyrex pie plate, but on round trips I just get the pie on my way and return it on my way home. If you are only traveling one way and don’t have a pie pan, it’s not a bad price to just keep it. This last visit I did stop to eat. I was seated immediately as it was pretty much empty at dinner time. The server was young but pleasant at the table. She and the kitchen were very prompt and everything was brought out right away. As for the food, the produce was fresh, but overall not great. I had remembered the sandwich bread being amazing but it was mere bread. The salad was ok but the croutons were stale or under toasted enough to have no crunch. There was only three pieces of bacon spread across my large BLT. Usually there is more than a condiments amount of bacon on a bacon sandwich. It was all good enough, but no more. No pie this trip.

The Muffins: 5 stars. Everything Else: Solid 3 stars. Every time I’ve been here I’ve been greeted and seated quickly and politely. The servers are friendly and attentive, even when they are busy. There is a little gift shop inside with a variety of cards, mugs, postcards, etc. You can also get a great selection of baked goods to go. Seriously though– the muffins. They are phenomenal. So amazingly delicious! They are also the size of my head. Okay, maybe not quite– but they are really big. Whatever else you get here, you should be sure to also get a muffin. You won’t regret it– your waistline might, but your mouth won’t. Yum!

Great little roadside stop. We were seated and served quickly. The server was knowledgeable about the menu. The food was good.

This is where I spent my birthday breakfast. There are no birthday perks here and that’s fine. It was an old run down place I’d seen many times going between Portland and Seattle on i5. It has the big red restaurant sign. I had ham and cheese eggs with toast and hash browns. Seems like something you couldn’t really mess up but the hash browns were the most raw I’ve ever been served. The server didn’t seem concerned so I didn’t say anything but yeah, warmed potato shreds is more apt. Food otherwise was okay but I’m not inspired to return. Try someplace else on i5.

After reading the reviews on here I was hesitant to try it but had heard good things @ their pies. That being said I got one to go and it was scrumptious! Can’t comment on the service as I didn’t eat there but it did seem understaffed for the number of guests there dining in. A word on the pies: they come in a Pyrex bowl that has a deposit attached to it – so if you’re not planning on coming back through any time soon it might be best to just get a couple slices to go as the overall cost of the pie and deposit may seem steep. Quite possibly the best pie I’ve ever had!

When we came here for Father’s Day the staff and food was especially delicious. The best part was the blackberry pie and Strawberry Rhubarb pie they make there. It taste like the old fashion pies my grandmother would make when I was a child, flaky crust and fresh fruit. I suggest ordering a whole one. If you bring back the pie tray or platter it comes in, on your next visit you’ll get a couple of bucks of your next pie!!! Great place for the family

I’ve always passed this restaurant travelling between my hometown and Portland. One day, after needing to stop for a restroom break, I decided to grab a bite to eat. The menu is limited for vegan and vegetarians alike so I had to search for a great deal of time. I settled on the fettuccine alfredo and my boyfriend chose the veggie burger. I was welcomed to the salad bar and there was a wide variety but the vegetables looked fairly old, being a vegan I was also disappointed there wasn’t any vinaigrette dressing for my salad so we decided to take it home for later eating. While waiting for the food, we observed the employees and waited patiently for our food. It kind of has an eerie feeling to it, it felt like time stopped and we were living in a scary movie scene as if anything wrong could happen at any moment. We finally got our food an headed on our way to Olympia. My boyfriend had fries with his burger but they didn’t bother salting his fries so they taste bland and his burger was mediocre. My alfredo was lacking flavor as well. I was sad to see a lack of vegetables after I specifically requested for veggies to be added into it. The only good thing about this restaurant, in my opinion, was the bread I got with my fettuccine. I had high hopes for this restaurant after passing it for many years but I will most likely never return. I’d give a zero if I had the choice but I’m unable to do so.

Good little place for what it is. Reminds me of a sherris from home. The food was good and I had yummy peppermint tea. The gift shop was also really cute and had cute stuff. The place also had some really cute modern decorations. Never come through this part of town usually but would come again for a bite to eat.

Breakfast. Sort of. A Big Hot Buttered Cinnamon Roll served with a smile by Kayla! It was great! Ernie had steak and Eggs — looked good, too. But seriously — CINNAMONROLL!

Lord knows how many hundreds of times I have driven by Spiffy’s over the last decade(I could drive I-5 between Portland and Seattle blindfolded). And though I never stopped here until yesterday, I did have an enduring curiosity about Spiffy’s, because in big letters it says«Bakery» on their wall facing I-5. I’m surprised by the low overall rating for Spiffy’s. While there was some minor service gaps during our visit, outweighing this consideration is that much of their menu items are made in-house and are very good. We felt so bad for the gal that was serving us. She was doing her best and very pleasant with us. Overall, we were satisfied with her service, but she was not having a great day. After taking our orders she had a panic attack and had to excuse herself to a room in the back. She came back a little teary-eyed and apologized. JP is a very compassionate person and he talked with her for a few minutes and got her to feeling better. Just something to consider: you never know what people are going through, so it is wise to be a little careful about complaining about service that may seem lacking. Now as far as the food goes, I had a meatloaf sandwich that was absolutely excellent. The hefty sandwich’s meatloaf was delightfully and mildly seasoned. Also, the sandwich’s delightfully toasted whole-grain bread was wonderful(the bread is made in-house). My side tossed salad was made with a nice combination of different lettuce types. My chocolate shake(topped with whipped cream) was nice and thick but might have been a tad too sweet. JP had a turkey and pastrami sandwich paired with chicken noodle soup in a combo menu item. The soup was delicious and his sandwich was so good it was devoured in the twinkling of an eye. I could go along with three stars for Spiffy’s, but my meatloaf sandwich was sooo good, I have to bump this review up to four stars. Would we come back? For a simple and convenient meal of quality-prepared items, I think we would.

Mediocre at best. Our order took 25 minutes to reach our table and the restaurant was not busy. The food was luke warm like it had been sitting a while. We had to ask the waitress to check on our order. The Spiffys cinnamon roll was hardly warm, had way too much extra frosting on top and was tough, too. Lunch took an hour.

Not impressed at all, 11.00 for a salad bar that didn’t have anything more in it than a regular dinner salad would have had, 5.50 for a cup of canned chili even though the menu said it was homemade, our server didn’t inform me that the salad plates were by the salad bar and just let me sit while the rest of my family ate and was extremely rude when I did finally ask, like I can read her mind. We paid almost 55.00 for a meal that would have been better at Dennys for way cheaper. We won’t be back and definitely will NOT recommend friends and family to go there.

Went to this place tonight in hopes to try something new in the area. First of all, the restaurant was empty yet our waitress seemed to never be around and was less than attentive. This place features a «salad bar» which really doesn’t have many options as far as salad fixings. The salad bar area was extremely sloppy especially since it was 11.00! For 3 salads and an appetizer plate we paid almost 50.00!!! The prices were outrageous and the food was honestly nothing special at all. There are maybe 3 options if that for a vegetarian meal oh! And they call taquitos«quesadilla» as spiffys. I will definitely never return to this place. You’d be better off going a couple exits north to Denny’s.

If you fish the Cowlitz River, there’s a good chance you’ve driven by Spiffy’s and seen a crowded parking lot, even early in the morning. Feet from the interstate this place is a local establishment and serves anglers, locals, travelers, often. It can get packed. I’d say breakfast and dessert are the best here. The breakfasts all are filling, hardy, come with large portions and tasty, way better than a Denny’s, Elmer’s or Shari’s, but not much more expensive. Their biscuits and gravy looks and tastes homemade and could feed even the hungriest lumberjack. And, their bacon and eggs is simple and won’t send you to the bathroom right away when fishing. As for lunch, there’s a ton available. We’ve tried much of it over the years and haven’t found anything to complain about. Sure, this isn’t high quality food, but where you’re sitting there aren’t many other options and there’s a good chance you’ll think you’re eating mama’s home cooked meals, which is a good thing. I had the meatloaf sandwich with a salad bar(just ok salad bar) but the sandwich was pretty good. The burgers are large and looked to be hand patted, rather than frozen. There’s not much you won’t be able to swallow with a smile. Meanwhile, it’s dessert you need to save room for. The pies here rival anything you’ll find in the Northwest, seriously. And, they are huge. Get a piece to share with buddies and you’ll be set. We opted to grab one slice each and were so full we almost didn’t eat dinner half a day later!
