Good food, good people. Don’t expect frills and fancy, this is down home southern hospitality and comfort food. The fried chicken was juicy and crispy with a great flavor and the mash and gravy was reminiscent of KFC and wonderful! The greens were cooked till oh, so, tender and yummy and boy, I love my greens! There was also boiled cabbage which I also love so I had to have both. They also served up glazed carrots, slaw and baked beans that were tops! I’ve had better yeast rolls and corn bread and my navy bean soup was good, but needed a touch a vinegar. Oh, and a must not miss is the extra creamy, cheesy, saucy Mac n Cheese! Wow! The servers are very nice and will get you what you need that is not on the buffet or you can order from the menu. I recommend this mom and pop establishment(since 1937) with only 1 other location! Would be back if this wasn’t a stop on a drive cross-country!

Old timey but clean, cute décor & great Southern food. My husband didn’t like it but he’s a Yankee so what does he know? Price was right(2 people for about $ 20) and there’s wasn’t a wait. The wait staff is super-nice and kind to babies.

Ok so a very very long time ago my father was associated with Wallys. I was passing through and thought I’d stop by. The food was buffet style and I was a little worried but it was worry for nothing. The food is good. Really good The buffet was well stocked and the place was moderately busy. I made a plate of fried chicken mashed potatoes green beans roll and rib. It was really good. The chicken was a little greasy but it had just been brought out from the back so … It was a little dark inside but I liked it. I liked that on a whole it is true to being a southern country restaurant… Down to the twang of the wait staff. Loved it and was very content

First off — yuck! I had to double check the address on Google maps street view because there are so many reviews but I will never return. We were just traveling through and stopped here. Of the three people in our party, no one was particularly impressed. It was very dirty — our table and several others nearby were sticky and needed to be wiped off, the bathrooms smelled and needed a mop, and the hostess was sweeping and beating the lobby’s carpets next to our table while our food was being served. We noticed there were many regulars, but our waitress didn’t give us a menu until we asked. I wasn’t feeling very well and opted for a grilled cheese sandwich with a side of fried okra. The grilled cheese tasted like they used a stick of butter in the pan; it was literally inedible. The fried okra was okay, especially since that was my entire lunch. The building itself looked very old and it was very dark inside.

Good country cooking with an especially good buffet. I was in a seafood mood on this visit which wasn’t a seafood night, so I ordered from the menu while my wife got the salad bar. The 21 shrimp platter was generous and I could not finish them off. The breading to shrimp ration was a tad too thick, but they were crispy and crunchy and not a bit greasy and I dipped in the flavorful Ranch dressing I stole from my wife’s salad instead cocktail sauce. I also dipped the crinkle fries in the same, and those could have been a tiny bit browner and crispier. The service was very friendly and attentive and I was served quickly. The meal came with two excellent rolls and a slightly sweet and delicious coleslaw.

Really solid southern food buffet. We stopped here for a late lunch and had a really good meal. The one thing that really stands out is their fried chicken. It is easily in the top ten of all the fried chicken I’ve ever eaten. Don’t miss it if you’re in the area!

Went and ate lunch at Wallys for the first time because I noticed the parking lot is always packed so I figured it must be good. It was the most delicious country cooking I have had in years and it’s a buffet. I definitely recommend eating here. I used to only go to Jenkins down the road but this food has much better flavor and it’s cheaper. They also have delicious breakfast and desserts and it’s got a nice, clean atmosphere inside with lots of seating.

People were nice, but that’s about all this place had going for it. The food was really lacking. Salad options were really minimal and way too much salt in the meat. Dimly lit buffet bar, not much of a sneeze guard to speak of, and none of the food was labeled! Buffet was $ 8.95 — felt like this was really overpriced for what we got. My greatest concern was that I and the person I dined with had extreme teeth sensitivity about ¾ of the way through our meals. This has never happened to either of us and the only common eating experience we had that day was this meal. We definitely won’t be coming back.

My party of 8 decided on W ally’s for dinner on a Saturday night. I was worried because they were not very busy. The food was pretty good it was mostly fresh, and by that I thought the bbq pork chops were overcooked. Everything else was good. The service was great also. They were happy to accommodate our large party, 4 of which were kids. They started getting busy after we were there for about 45 min. So I guess they have a late dinner service.

I personally like the Wallys down much better. The buffet was disappointing, not well stocked and few choices. Broccoli, greens, cabbage, kraut, cole slaw! Mostly chicken wings in the fried chicken & frozen fried shrimp. Desserts were empty. No need to return!

Awesome prices and friendly staff… will definitely be back again and again Tony and I left Nashville Saturday April 5th, 2014 about 330 am and headed towards Georgia. By the time we reached Chattanooga area we were ready for breakfast. So after we took the I24 South at the split from I75, we took the first exit on Ringold Rd. We found Wally’s Restaurant on the right hand side near some hotels. We like trying new places and the sign advertised it had been open since 1930’s …so we figured this place has been good for the LOCALS it should be good for us. It is much larger inside than it looks outside. We were greated immediately and seated near the front at a very comfortable booth. They have a large breakfast buffet that was full of food and full of hungry customers digging up the morning goodness. Tony and I asked for a menu, Not much of a buffet person. Don’t like all those faces around my food… I ordered a sweet tea with lemon and BLT on White Toast with little mayo. Tony ordered one egg over easy, sausage and biscuits with gravy. It was brought really fast and it was really good. Our waitress was Jennifer and she was so very nice. We told her it was our first time and she was so nice. Gave us so much information about the restaurant, about hours and dinner buffets. The breakfast buffet was only $ 7.29 plus taxes per person plus drink and taxes. We took our order from the menu and we were full. The price was so so so good… it was only $ 10.87 with taxes… I tipped her 30% tip… and we will definitely be back again and again. The food was Awesome, and home cooked fresh. The waitress was Awesome and so friendly I tasted the sausage… ummm good !!! I tasted the gravy… OMG just like my mawmaw used to make… I put his egg on my BLT and OMG. it was delicious… the tomatoes were so fresh, red, deep and ripe… GREAT !!!

All you can eat buffet is really good. It’s located conveniently off the interstate. The food is similar to Cracker Barrel. The building is really nice as it is in a like new restaurant. They also have big rooms that can be used for meetings, reunions, recitals, coin clubs and business. I have seen these people in there but you can bet are something like that because most are eating. The food is country type food on the buffet. The best food I like is their chicken. They usually have banana pudding too for desert. The waitresses take care of you and will check back on you. They have good sweet tea and coffee also.

Ok. Did the owners mother post the last review ? This place says it was established in 1937. It hasn’t changed the décor since opening day… We stopped for the much touted BUFFET ! Oops, our mistake. Grizzly, dried out ham slices & fried chicken were the only meats. No gravy for the mashed potatoes. The lettuce used in the salad was brown and several days old. The chicken noodle soup was very tasty, but cold. There was a hot berry cobbler, which tasted great, but for some unexplained reason was in the midst of the vegetables. Overall, we were sorry we stopped at Wally’s instead of Jenkins Buffet just down the street a bit.

Delicious southern food. I’m sure there are some ladies from the local church in the kitchen making everything. It tastes homemade– rolls, coleslaw, pinto beans, cream corn, fried chicken, Mac & cheese, collards. You will feel like you were invited to a local potluck! The waitress was friendly & genuine in a way that made you feel at home. All that for $ 8.50 a plate(buffet) and the banana pudding & bread pudding were also tasty.

I absolutely love me some Wally’s! Everything here is good, well prepared, and hearty. The fried chicken is awesome, as are all the other entrees. The salad bar is well stocked, the veggies and entrees vary throughout the day and evening. My only«issues» I have with Wally’s is that they’re now closed on Sundays — wish they were open 365÷24÷7. Love all the waitresses, too — they are all absolutely awesome — they take good care of their customers, and keep the tea, coffee, etc. flowing all the time you’re there.

Oh Wally’s. So bad, but so good at the same time. I’ve eaten at some of the finest restaurants in the world. Thomas Keller’s place(The French Laundry) in Yountville, CA. Adrian Ferra’s El Bulli in Spain. Iron Chef Hiroyuki Sakai’s La Rochelle in Japan. And I can appreciate those establishments… but when it comes down to it, if you offered me Wally’s buffet every day, 7 days a week, I would be a very happy man. I love this place. Cheap as hell(about $ 7 I think, what I’d pay for two pieces of sushi), with All-You-Can-Eat Southern Goodness. You see, being from a tropical island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean(Hawaii), I don’t get to have much Southern food. So whether locals think this place is awesome or not, it don’t matter to me. To be completely honest, I would rather eat here than at St. John’s Restaurant, which is good in it’s own right, but if you ask me if I’d rather have a Kobe Zabuton Steak on some exotic crushed potato with Maine Lobster frisee salad with Port aioli reduction or whatever — OR all you can eat fried chicken, waffles, cornbread, bacon, sausage, biscuits, gravy meatloaf, mashed potatoes, mac and cheese… well, I’d much rather be sitting at my table at Wally’s, being a happy man. How much do I love this place? First place I’m returning to next time I’m in Chattanooga is this humble little place. Love it. 4⁄5
