Champion is a name I had heard of for years associated with good weatherproof windows, so when we decided to have ours replaced in our 100+ year old house we decided to get a quote from Champion along with a few other companies. The salesman they sent out was predictable but with their guarantee we decided to fork over the 10k to have all 15 windows in our house replaced. The installers were fairly nice but the quality of the windows was a tad offputing. The locks feel like the will break if you pull on them a little too hard and I had one come off altogether while trying to open it. They’re also not as good at cutting back on outside noise(we live in town) as we were lead to believe which was a major disappointment since we’re stuck next door to a daycare center. Concerning handling business with this location — we made a deal with the salesman and was told that we would have to pay an extra 500.00 for possible lead paint issues. Considering that I already knew that we have lead paint I told the salesman to go ahead and add it in — which he did. He showed me this as we went over the invoice. After the installation we started getting bugged by Champion that we owed them the 500.00. I called several times, spoke to a couple of different people about it and explained the situation and showed our copy of the invoice to the gentleman doing the follow up visit since he was advised to remind us of our owing the fee. During the last phone call to the office manager and explaining the situation to her again — I ended up having to flat out refusing to repay the fee. It’s not my fault the salesman did something wrong and or lied(he no longer works for them by the way). After a $ 10,000.00 purchase you’d think that they would take the evidence of payment shown to them and drop it but they put us through this for close to a month. We’ll never do business with them again. I guess I should also add that the salesman lied about how long it would take to get the windows. In the end it took just over 2 months to get them installed instead of a few weeks.
