Sadly I paid $ 199 for a month. There was a 100% money back guarantee and the owner didn’t stand by it. I only asked for half back as I went for a week and a half before deciding it wasn’t for me. It wasn’t fir me because I was throwing up after class it was such a hard workout and after having an episode where I couldn’t breathe my throat was closing up I decided it was just way too hard a workout for me. The teacher was great just wasn’t the kind of workout I was looking for. I didn’t realize it was so extreme. The bummer for me was most people who were in my. Class got a group rate of $ 35 for the month– he should have given me back half my money. It was a fair request. I just don’t have time to fight over it.

Unfortunately my reviews are much the same as many of the previous customers. I happily purchased 2 from Living Social for my daughters who were thrilled to get started. One of the locations that I thought would be easy for my daughters, they said was no longer in existence. My daughters called to make a first appointment for a class and were also told that they needed to complete all 12 sessions within a month.(not stated originally) That being said, they were willing to make the commitment. Once there, it was just assumed that they knew what to do and how to do it. One of my daughters asked what a specific exercise was and the instructor told her to go home and look it up. In addition, rather than teaching them how to do an exercise, the instructor told them to watch the person in front of them? How does one do that if you are supposed to be concentrating on what you are doing at that moment. What if the person in front is doing it incorrectly. There was no assistance, and in addition they were charged $ 30.00 to rent a locker.(not stated originally) They were not allowed to share one. Needless to say, my daughters did not want to return. I did write to Living Social to share my frustration and they credited my account which makes me a true supporter of Living Social. They are an honest, fair and professional company.

I too bought the living social deal. What a scam!!! Not only do they now alter the terms of the deal offered by requiring you to do 12 classes in one month, but they require you to sign a contract for after your month is up charging nearly $ 200 per month, just to take your first class that you already paid for through living social. I asked the trainer about that when I first was asked to sign it and he gave me HUGE attitude. I signed the form b/c I did want to get my workout and get my money’s worth. He then took it out on me in his class and was rude to me the entire class. I have been in other boot camps and fitness classes and while the workout itself is okay(but I was not sore the next day), go somewhere else!!! It is not worth the scam and dishonesty. There are far better places around for less!

Total scam. They sell 12 classes on living social for cheap then make you purchase a $ 199 membership to use it. Plus, the guy is RUDE. see other reviews for more details.

If you are looking for a workout class that kicks your butt and is fun at the same time, Mechanical Fitness is the way to go. I decided to try it out on a whim, and didn’t really know what to expect. Overall, I am very satisfied with the results. Things that I loved: –For my first class, they let me bring a friend for support, which I found extremely helpful. –They gave me a meal plan to follow help me lose weight. And they were also very informative about how to maintain a healthy everyday diet. –The classes made me sore ALLOVER. We did lots of different exercises which targeted muscles I rarely work out. –The personalization with each member. They took note of each person’s ability and would push you harder according to that ability. –The trainers were great! Servando and Charles were both really caring, motivating, knowledgeable and funny. I definitely recommend trying it out!

I got to try Mechanical Fitness for a month at a discounted price by purchasing a living social deal. I am now in my last week and have started seeing results. They have various times & locations(Anytime Fitness in Tarzana, Tarzana Park & Chatsworth Park) so it would be hard to say their times do not fit into one’s schedule. If we could all just fit in at least 1hr of exercise into our daily lives the majority of us wouldn’t be so overweight. The program focuses on circuit training and problem areas such as thighs, arms, and abdominals. So far I have met only 2 of the trainers Servando & Charles and both have been great and are good at motivating the group. They like to keep the classes pretty small but that’s helps the members because if one of them sees you doing a exercise incorrectly or if they know they can push you a little harder or give you something more advanced to do they can tell you right then and there. There are many members that are older than me and can still keep up which definitely amazes me, if they can do it anyone can.

A drastic change in policy + the complete elimination of a location = a SERIOUSLYBADBUSINESSPRACTICE! I too purchased the Living Social voucher and have encountered the same issues as Pamela S. Not only has the owner, Servando Dominguez, changed the rules of the deal only a few short days AFTER the sale, but he has also removed the Porter Ranch location completely. If you were planning on taking classes in Porter Ranch(listed on the Mechanical Fitness website when this voucher was available) you can now forget about it. I studied this deal before making the purchase to make sure that I could take complete advantage of it. The only expiration date listed was August 18, 2011. I felt very confident that I would be able to use up my 12 classes before that date, even if there were lots of other people purchasing the deal. But now that Servando has changed the terms of the deal, after the sale, I can no longer make it work. He said by changing the rules and enforcing a one month limit was the only way he could«get all 191 people that purchased the voucher to fit into the classes». WRONG! He has the power to extend the final expiration limit. This is California after all, where under California law, most gift certificates cannot contain an expiration date, and are valid until redeemed. But instead he chose to put the burden on the customer. In the end, no matter how good a business(or in this case a personal trainer) may be, if they only succeed in upsetting potential customers before the customer ever has a chance to experience the business, then that business is a complete failure. p. s. Living Social did refund my money(Excellent business model, Living Social. I’ll definitely be shopping from your site again!) but truthfully, I would have preferred to try his classes :(Oh well.

I had purchased a deal on living social for $ 29 for 12 sessions. I had called a few days later and spoke to Araceli and she informed me that we had to make an appointment for our first session. Then after that, I may come in whenever I am available as they have many classes and many locations. This was great news since my schedule is very erratic. Unfortunately, only a few hours after we spoke on the phone, she decides to CHANGE the deal at THEIR convenience by emailing me. The new rule is that I have to use all 12 sessions in one month. That’s totally impossible! 12 session in 1 month = 3 times a week! I never would have purchased this deal to begin with if I knew they required this level of commitment. However it’s just shady business that they decide to make up their own rules on the fly. Quoted from her email: «even at 1/week you are still getting a great deal — $ 7/class!!» I can’t believe she was even suggesting that! I didn’t buy 4 classes! I bought 12! WHATCHEATERS! I’ve purchased many deals on groupon/livingsocial and have never once had an establishment change the terms of the deal as they so pleased. It’s not my fault that they got overwhelming response on the deal. If they knew they wouldn’t have the manpower to handle it, then they should have limited the deal to a certain number. This is just common sense. Now they’ll have a whole bunch of unhappy customers who won’t come back and will SPREAD the word about how crappy this fitness class is. I won’t be surprised if they get an OVERWHELMING response for a full refund because that’s just what I requested! Take your fitness needs elsewhere!

The set up going in Tarzana at Anytime Fitness works pretty well for them right now with Ari as the trainer. Ari is pretty great. He really pushes you hard and tries to make the workouts fun and interesting. I really like the cardio/kickboxing part of the workouts, as learning the punches and kicks is fun for me. You have all the tools to help yourself out and get yourself started on your ultimate weight loss goal. However, it’s a little pricey for only one hour three days a week. But being in the 6am class, which is really small, it’s great to get such one-on-one focused attention from Ari and can really help improve how you workout.
