Started with the buffalo mozzarella which I thought was quite good. Ordered as my main the New York strip. I found the steak to be a bit overcharred on the outside although it was cooked properly. What I didn’t like was the«Italian French fries» that came with it. It was just over fried greasy potato chips and this pepper onion mix with it. The plate looked a mess. Gelato for dessert was good tho.

One of the better Italian restaurants in the area. The Gnocchi with vodka or pesto is excellent. If you like eggplant there is an appetizer that is delicious. Service is great. Tiramisu is to die for. My inky regret is that we didn’t go here sooner.

Overrated! And the place is very loud. There are better choices nearby.

OMG this place is amazing, We came here to celebrate a very special occasion. The service is fabulaous and the food very, very tasty,. This is the only restaurant in the NJ suburbs(which we have found) that compares with some of the best restaurants in Manhattan, My wife said, this is now are favorite restaurant to go to…

I hate this place and I never even ate here. Yeah, you read that right. I stopped by at 5pm on a Saturday night with my wife. There wasn’t a soul in the place. I explained that we didn’t have a reservation, but did they have a table for 2. Was shown to a table for 4, in the center of the room, near the service stand. I asked if we could sit at a table for two by the wall. Was given a very gruff, «it’s this or nothing». I’m thinking«Eff you, you Effing Eff». But I didn’t say it and just turned around and left. I mean, I get it, you are booked with reservations, probably starting at 6pm, an hour from now. But it’s not like someone booked«the 3rd table along the wall on the left». We are here, the place is empty, cut me a break. So you seat one of your reservations at the table in the middle of the room by the service stand. When this place goes«belly-up» in a year or two, I won’t shed a tear.

Went last night. Yes the place is packed and loud, but I like that! It has a real city vibe; the décor is simple and pretty and the place has a great energy. As said in other reviews, it’s a BYOB which is great. The good is very tasty. Their cheeses are really good with all of the dishes and the food is fresh. Delicious cappuccino and dessert-lava cake is so rich I couldn’t even finish it! Definitely share the dessert :) Service is fine, not overly personal(but I like that when on a date) but water was always full and plates were cleared immediately. Overall a great time, I’ll be back :)

We’ve been here twice and loved it both times– food preparation was excellent, service was attentive yet not overbearing, ambiance is very warm and comfortable although noise level was a bit more than we would have liked. As is case in many NJ restaurants, it’s BYOB which is a real advantage for us, we can have great wines without a corkage fee. All around excellent experiences, btw parking on street and in lot behind makes it even more convenient We’ll be back soon!!!

Great food, but lousy service. There was too long of a wait for the appetizers and then for the main courses. How many times should I have to ask for a soda? Apparently many times is the answer. As has been noted before, the portions are average sized, not overwhelming. I will not be rushing back.

What a pleasant surprise in the heart of dwntown Chatham. The serivce was fabulaous and the food very, very tasty. Only complaint at all would be that the portiuon sizes were not ‘NJ Strong’. Take the time to enjoy this place though. All of the servers were very friendly, and even though it is BYOB the staff offered us a Sambuca with coffee beans to top off our meal. I ordered chicken and sausage which was not on the menu and they were more than happy to accomodate. The dish was very well prepared and nicely served. It was perfectly spiced. Others ordered the posk chop and specially prepared chicken and were very happy with their choices. Check this place out if you are in the area. CHatham is not Madison when it comes to downtown ambience, but you will be very happy with your choice of this ‘second city’ Italian restaurant.

BYOB — Always good Décor — Nice Food — Sub-Par … The food was«OK» but I was extremely dissappointed with the portion size … I ordered a Veil dish and only got a few small, thin slices… When I got home i had to make a sandwich. Much better places with bigger portions

I’ve passed this restaurant hundreds of times as it’s situated on the main street of my neighboring town but I never ventured in until this past Wednesday night. I decided to get takeout from D’ORO as I had a serious craving for Italian food. I went with the special appetizer of burrata(an item I can never say no to if it’s on the menu), and rigatoni with bolognese sauce. The food was AMAZING authentic Italian food and I will definitely be back. The owner and maitre-d were also very nice and welcoming.

D’Oro doesn’t quite live up to its name(which means«golden» as they proudly state on their website). The food is very good though not excellent. The portions are small and certainly not worth the prices. I had the Petto di Pollo Farcito(described as «chicken breast filled with parma prosciutto, mushrooms, fontina cheese, spinach, fresh sage baked with Madeira wine sauce»). There was very little cheese and I neither saw nor tasted any mushrooms or prosciutto. In fact the only thing I tasted at all was the wine sauce which overpowered everything else. Suffice it to say, it could’ve been been better. For dessert I had the cannoli which was fantastic, but then again, when is a cannoli ever not fantastic? The space D’Oro occupies is fairly small and, though they don’t pack too many people in, it seems pretty cramped to sit there for any length of time, especially given that the chairs are rather uncomfortable. It’s also extremely loud. I’m told the restaurants that occupied that space previously were even louder though I don’t see how that’s possible. The staff was friendly and helpful however our waiter was very difficult to understand, partly because of his accent but mostly because of the noise level. He did go out of his way to try to annunciate each of the specials and desserts so he is certainly not to blame. They really ought to just print out the specials and desserts to avoid the confusion. It would also cut down on the noise as the waiters wouldn’t have to speak over the din to be heard. Overall it wasn’t a bad dining experience but I wouldn’t recommend it.

This space was Danielle’s for a while, then Fuoco came in and lasted a few months. My guess is that D’Oro will be here for quite a long time. The owners are a couple that have lived in the area for a while. He acts as maitre’d, occasional waiter and helps out in the kitchen on occasion, and I’ve seen her acting as the front of the house quite a bit as well. Everything I have had here so far is great, and we’ve been here a lot. D’Oro is classic Italian done really well. On the appetizers/salads, I can definitely recommend the portabella pizette, the calamari and the spinach salad. The pizette especially, with a nice light basil pesto and tomatoes over a great portabello mushroom, is great. If they have a pasta special, it’s usually available as an appetizer portion as well. On the dinner side, you’re good with whatever you get, but I have to specifically mention the cornish hen. I hardly ever get chicken or chicken related meals for dinner. This pan roasted boneless cornish hen with escarole and cannellloni beans was much tastier and better than I ever expected. In fact, I should have gone there tonight, because unlike a lot of other local restaurants, D’Oro is open on Mondays. And there’s one little point of contention that keeps D’Oro from getting to five stars. I have been here on a few Mondays, and on two occasions they seemed understaffed. The first time apparently one of the cooks did not come back for the dinner shift. This led to very long delays for meals, but the owner was gracious and we came back again. There were some delays this time as well. Nothing near bad enough to keep me from coming back, but I’ll think twice about making another Monday trip(but damn that cornish hen is good). BYOB
