Soy latte and coffee both decent. $ 2 pastries are a pretty good deal. I see other reviews that say bad service but our server was great. Would give 5 stars if they actually played some Beethoven instead of cheesy movie scores.

I stopped in this shop today while in town for my kid’s soccer game. I was very satisfied with the service as the staff was friendly and quite pleasant to deal with. The coffee and pastries were very good, and it seems like everything was made in house. We even stopped back afterwards for some celebratory giant cookies for the victors! I’ll be back next time I’m in Chatham.

Very disappointing! The Fur Elise espresso drink tasted like watered down hot chocolate without any presence of the promised orange flavor. Presentation of the sandwich was nice but taste was just average. No paper towels nor soap in the rest room. Poor customer service.

A nice, warm, welcoming place. You can order at the counter or from your table. We went early on a Sunday and ordered from the breakfast and brunch menu. Fresh fruit was served beautifully in a wine glass. Chocolate croissant was excellent. I had the black bean quesadilla and initially wondered what took so long on the prep, but then I realized they were making it to order, fresh, from scratch — and you can taste it! So good. Parking on the side. If the front room is full, don’t worry — step in to see the back room where there’s more seating. Look forward to returning to try the coffee and a muffin!

This place is an institution! I worked here for 4 years in high school and can truly speak to the quality of this place. The food is great and the people who work there are great. I’ve moved away but when I visit chatham, I come here. I’m so grateful for Café Beethoven.

«OK» is the best description I can make for this place. I want it to be more, but it never is(been here many times). Service is fine, food is fine, atmosphere is a little boring. Back patio is nice. However, so many times when I try to meet friends here for lunch and/or coffee we get to the café to find a sign on the door saying it’s closed. Too bad, because Chatham doesn’t really have any cute coffee shops. Hey, maybe that could be a new business venture for me!

While visiting Chatham one day I needed to get my coffee fix and I came across Café Beethoven. Located in a gorgeous old building(that looks like it may have been residential at some point in its history) you feel like you’re stepping back decades in time. There is a wonderfully comfortable feeling and its charm washes over you as you walk in and take in the décor. The coffee was good and service was quick and friendly. I look forward to going back to try some of their food and enjoy the charming ambiance once again!

We haven’t tried everything here, but I can tell you one thing: this place has the best Croissants in America. And the service is so personal and warm that one likes to stay.

I heard some decent things about this place so decided to try it out for a support group event my company was hosting. I called and left 3 messages(over several days) for the manager Andy to return my call and get some information on dates and food. After no response I decided to stop in on my way home from work one evening. Low and behold, Andy was in but didn’t have time to give me any details about dates or food… There were two tables sat in the WHOLEPLACE and another wait-staff available to help. Although I thought it bizarre I decided to give the place a shot. Andy confirmed he had my messages, contact, etc., and would contact me the following day around 2−3pm after the lunch time rush with pricing for the space, food, etc. 3 days later I still had not heard from him. I placed my last phone call to Café Beethoven that following week and shared with the staff my attempts(and frustration) to contact Andy & book the event. I should have not been surprised after all of these failed attempts, but I STILLHAVENOTRECEIVED A PHONECALLBACK. I truly wonder how establishments like this stay in business. I would not recommend Café Beethoven to anyone trying to host a party. They are unprofessional and couldn’t be bothered to provide basic service.

So appealing from the outside looking in but… This was a place I had bookmarked for a while but was never able to make it to. Really I should have followed my Unilocalers intuition(some of you know what I’m talking about). Hesitant about initially trying this place and once I did, I left with a shoulder shrug with mild disappointment. Café Beethoven is located perfectly on the main street of Chatham with ample seating both outfront, inside and outback. I went to Café B for a late lunch one afternoon. I decided on the Grilled Breakfast Sandwich($ 6.50) which consisted of a thomas’ english muffin with dry slab of canadian bacon with a tomato on top smothered in cheese. Small for its size and lacking in flavor. I was able to wash down the taste with an above average iced coffee. Probably the highlight of the meal. The outdoor seating was nice though. I wont be back to this place, though go ahead for yourself and check out their website, which seems way more appealing than the actual place itself.

Excellent coffee. Good egg dishes for brunch. Nice atmosphere. One suggestion, they should buy indoor shades to keep out the sun off of the customers, as it becomes hot in the restaurant in the Summer months. Otherwise, no complaints!

This is not a bakery, it is just a storefront. Most of the baked good, if not all, you are purchasing were made elsewhere and are simply sold here. The baked goods are just okay but the baristas have no idea how to make espresso drinks. A mocha tasted like simply coffee and hot chocolate. The person making it didn’t even know what a mocha was, I had to tell her. I stopped coming here because of a ridiculous sign they had in the dining area which demanded customers entire party place their orders before taking a seat at a table. Not sure if that’s still the policy, but I haven’t been back there in about 8 years to find out.

Oh my goodness. Their Cream Puffs are finger licking goooood. The custard was rich and flavorful with just the right amount of sugar and the pastry wasn’t stale(as I find in most other cream puffs). Also, the top of the pastry was caramelized with what I believe was a few chopped almonds. I will be back again for these cream puffs and definitely give everything else a try. The atmosphere is so adorable with vintage work hung up on the walls and the price was well worth the deliciousness. I’m so glad I live so close to Café Beethoven. P. S. The presentation of their baked goods are spot on and that just by looking at it, I was enticed. Good thing the puffs tasted as good as they looked and more.

Located in the center of Chatham, Café Beethoven makes a nice brew. The Symphony, Fur Elise(Cocoa and Coffee), and the Café Beethoven are a favorite of mine. Nice environment inside, and they also offer outdoor seating if you want to enjoy the town view and relax. They also have a lot of sweets and decadent desserts to enjoy — chocolate covered pretzels, cupcakes, and all sorts of fruit confections. Pretty good prices, and the few times we’ve come, the coffee’s been consistently good. This place is my go-to for coffee in the Chatham/Madison area.

I came here for a child’s birthday party and it seemed like a very appropriate place. We had the back room to ourselves, so I can’t speak much for the rest of the shop, but the food and service were impeccable. Really tasty cakes and pies(especially the strawberry rhubarb, you don’t find that often!) and delicious cappucinos! Everyone, young and old, was happy!

With so many choices available along the line of coffee shops, Café Beethoven is average. The baked goods are ok but not something so different or amazing that it draws someone there. Lunches are decent but again not so fabulous that I am drawn there. Set in a very old building, the atmosphere is quite charming, that I will give them. It’s a «Ladies who Lunch» sort of place with a slight air of pretentiousness. Dinner is served but I’ve never been. It’s pretty tiny in there so I’m not sure how they handle a crowd. The service is ok, not amazing. If they had one more person or worked a little faster the tables could get cleaned up and people seated quickly. They do host private parties from time to time, and I have gone once to meet a friend for coffee but they were closed, so it can be a surprise but it’s not like there aren’t other options around. There is a small patio out back that borders their driveway/parking lot for those who like to dine al fresco. One thing I want to point out that I found quite gross though. Walking by one night with a friend I noticed the chairs on the tables. Not just the chairs but the FEET of the chairs on the table, the feet of the chairs that were just on the floor, by your feet, that were just in the bathroom and on the sidewalk. I thought maybe they clean the tables in the AM, but no, the tables were set for the next day already; so unless you like a side of fecal bacteria or whatever lurks on a sidewalk or floor with your food, keep your hands and silverware off the table. The local I was walking with said they do this nightly. I found it gross and i would think it’s got to be some sort of violation, don’t you think? Most likely not going back. So all in all, although I want to give them a 5-star rating because there is just so much potential here, Café Beethoven got a «Meh, I’ve experienced better» from me.

I like Café Beethoven a lot, though I hardly ever go. It’s not quite big enough to reach a level of hubub that gives a café its energy. There are 4 – 6 small tables in the front, and a back room that you have to ask to sit in. You feel a bit self-conscious sometimes. But maybe that can be a good thing. I’m sure the people are well-meaning. I should go here more often because I’d rather my paltry coffee spendings go to a local town shop than to Starbucks. It is fine for meeting up with a friend, as long as you don’t say anything too interesting, and maybe for reading, but not for journalling. They also host a lot of events.

I am torn. I really wanted to like this place a LOT more than I did, but I just couldn’t. I’m sorry. I’m here visiting, and my sister and her husband brought me here for a late lunch. It wasn’t very busy when we walked in, but almost every table was covered with remnants of the previous patrons plates, so there was one tiny table to sit down at which was sort of clean. We sat for a while until my sister decided to grab us some menus. We weren’t really sure if we were supposed to do that or not, but honestly, we couldn’t figure out who was working in this place. Ten minutes later, we placed our food and drink orders. The food was meh. I had the butternut squash/apple soup, which was pretty good, and the hummus wrap, which was pretty bad. I will admit; I am a total hummus snob. The hummus was dry and had a weird after taste. I did like that the wrap was served with cantaloupe on the side, though. That was nice. The coffee was adequate, but my water glass had dried food on it so I was pretty unsure about the general cleanliness of the place. We did get a pie to bring over to my brother’s place, though, which is where the whole thing redeems itself. It was AWESOME. Apple caramel walnut. The pastries and things looked amazing, so I’m thinking, if you’re looking for desserts, this is your place. If you’re looking for a meal, maybe you want to get some soup and go somewhere else?

Café Beethoven made my wedding cake a few years ago. The cake had alternating tiers of Hazelnut cream and Lemon curd. I unfortunately only had time to take two bites of my cake before I was rushed away to do the bouquet toss… but those two bites were heaven. Cute place to get a cup of coffee and a pastry for those of you who are not in need of an entire cake. =)
