Vinny’s Italian Grill

Incredible gluten free pizza!
Not to mention the regular pizza was devoured by my picky little baby goats (kids)!
Calamari was quite choice!
Fast friendly service with great smells to boot.

So this place was reviewed and everyone said it was the best pizza in Charlottesville… I would have to say that it might be some of the best pizza that I have ever had! The décor was super authentic all the way down to the bottled olive oils with the olive branches still in it. I’m from New Jersey and I felt like I was back home.
My server was Jacob and he was great. Very attentive and was there always when he needed to be. As I stated in my past post I usually judge an Italian joint on their fried calamari. The calamari was so simple and light, I just loved it! I ordered two slices as well which were not small by any means. I got sun dried tomatoes on it and even those you could tell were made to perfection. The pizza was perfectly crispy and had the right amount of cheese. It was perfect to be honest. If I wasn’t so full I would have ordered an cannoli. My buddy ordered the Gut Buster Stromboli and he said that it was awesome (as well as huge).
My experience at Vinny’s was awesome and I will be going back here before I head home. Great job guys!

I could review this restaurant with one word, amazing!
The ambience is definitely Italian. The service was fast and friendly. The food was Olive Garden quality at half the price. I had the «Belly Buster Stromboli» and it was absolutely amazing. My wife had spaghetti and although it may not have hit her taste buds as well as OG, it was VERY tasty. As for the quantity, well, we both took ½ of our entrees to go. You would expect this from my wife, but I’m a six foot 240 pounder and if I had eaten all of that stromboli, it would have Busted my belly!
If you like very authentic Italian food at a fantastic value, you’ll be very pleased by eating here!

Good family friendly pizza place. Our server (Jacob) was efficient and courteous. The food came out of the kitchen hot. We had a large pepperoni pizza, good stuff. I would highly recommend this place for families and large groups.

Disgusting. I ordered the salmon. Simply put. The salmon was not fresh. It was cooked from frozen and as a result was dry and overcooked. Disgusting. The vegetable medley also was a bagged frozen mix. Rubbery, tasteless and freezer burned. Disgusting. The roasted red pepper sauce was tasteless and covered the dry salmon. Disgusting. $ 14 for a disgusting tasteless frozen dinner. Never again.

They have good pizza (and if it wasn’t for that, I would give only one star). As for the other foods we have tried… meh. The calamari is always over-​cooked. The Eggplant Parm was almost burnt and not very tasty. I «made my own» pasta last night with marinara sauce and Italian sausage and the sausage is dense with the same flavor as the marinara. The marinara tastes like it has been stewing in a pot all day and I got the scoop near the bottom. We’ll be back, but I’ll stick to pizza. They have such an opportunity and have a lot of people come through at dinner time. I just wish their food was better… Service was excellent though and the manager is great! Food… not so much.

This little strip-​mall chain restaurant has no business being so awesome. We’ve eaten here around ten times and usually get subs or pizza and the food is always fantastic. The still-​warm homemade potato chips that come free with the subs are amazing. The Cheese-​steak is a work of art. The Calzone looks huge, but the dough is light enough that one person can (possibly) eat the whole thing.- and you WILL want to. Service is also quick and the prices are cheap. Hard to go wrong here.

Cheap imitation of the real Vinny’s in ruckersville. They simply copied the name, but the pizza comes no where close. I used to just think my memory betrayed me, until I went out to the original and they explained the confusion.

The best thing about Vinny’s is the intimate environment. Every seat is well placed so you have privacy for conversation. Very cozy feel. The bad part is the food is bland. The red sauce seems like wholesale tomato sauce with minimal condiments. I suppose some folks like their food that way.

One of my favorite places to eat. I usually eat it but tonight I got take out. The pizza is really good here. Very fresh and made from scratch. I always get the house pasta. If you like spicy, get the spicy marinara! I love it. The house dressing is awesome too.
This place is really on top of things. Great food and great service!

Everything but the pizza is phanomenol! The homemade chips are like crack! Shrimp, chicken, meatball subs are all excellent. Pasta is delicious. Service is friendly and casual. Good for kids.

I came to the complex where Vinny’s is located, not knowing what restaurants were here. We decided upon Vinny’s at a random, and we were very impressed. I had the veal Parmesan, and it was delicious. My friends had the salmon, the chicken Alfredo, and a pizza as well, and we all were thoroughly impressed.

I’ve been wanting to try the philly steak sub for a while but panera across the street was always appetizing. For lunch, I ordered it to go with added green peppers and fries. The sub itself had sliced ribeye, onions, cheese, lettuce/​tomato in a generous sized sub roll. Of course with any to-​go order, one can’t expect the quality to be awesome. My fries were soggy (as expected) but was nonetheless good (I got ranch on the side to dip them in). The sub was good but not exceptional. It was okay for a quick lunch. If I eat here next time, I would want to dine in to get the full experience.

I come to Vinny’s all the time. Great food at an amazing price. Service is always spot on. Calamari is wonderful pizza and sandwiches are great to. Have tried almost everything on the menu nothing I have been disappointed in yet.

This is one of our favorite nearby restaurants! The prices are just right and the food is delicious. Any pasta order you get will give you at least 2 other meals worth for leftovers. The pizza is so good we stopped ordering delivery from chains and only pick up from Vinny’s now. The service is great and they are a very family friendly restaurant. We’ve walked and driven by so many times — not sure why it took us so long to finally give it a try, but we’re glad we did!

We hadn’t eaten here for awhile so we took our 2 kids on a Friday night. We all had pizza. The kids had smiley face pizza slices. Since my daughter doesn’t like pepperoni, they used cheese to put the :-) on her pizza. The kids meal was reasonably priced. My husband and I shared a pepperoni pizza. My only complaint is that it was a little greasy, the kind of pizza where you need to use a napkin to sop up the grease. The pizza was very tasty, with a great balance of cheese and sauce. The slices were a good size and we took home leftovers.
I’m looking forward to trying something else on the menu the next time.

Tonight the family and I had dinner here and the food was delicious and the sauces tasted homemade. This is approx. the 5^th time we have been, the food is consistently good and the pricing is reasonable, the wait staff is always attentive and helpful.
If you want consistent good food and service at a reasonable price this is the place.
Ps, the pizza is amazing.

So here’s the skinny on Vinny’s. The service was very good. The pizza was good but unremarkable. Fresh dough but nothing too amazing other than that. I had a pasta dish (vodka cantoloni) that was ok but not one I would get again. We also had a confusing appetizer called the pot o gold. It was mozzarella sticks, toasted ravioli, Italian sausage rolls, homemade potato chips, and onion rings in a large crispy tortilla. It was expensive and it was giving a mixed vibe. I didn’t have dessert so I can’t comment on that. Plus the whole plus could use a makeover. The whole meal ended up being almost 60 dollars and didn’t feel quite worth that. We’ve had far worse Italian good but if you try Vinny’s you may want to stick to the pizza as it is has large portions and is pretty good.

Vinny’s is a perfectly fine Italian joint for lunch. I had the Philly cheesesteak and my colleague had the rigatoni with chicken and vodka sauce. The Philly CS was actually pretty good, but the rigatoni w/​vodka sauce was lacking something. Maybe vodka. Not sure. Décor was awash with red and white checked table cloths, fairly interesting large jars of olives, peppers, and other Italian themed goods, and the menu was easy to navigate. Our waitress was very nice, attentive, and QUICK! If you are running late or need a quick bite without waiting for half your lunch hour, rest assured that Vinny’s will have your food to your table in no time flat. Will check out other menu items as week goes on.
