We’ve had a very positive experience with Patti at Timberlake. We’re building a house and therefore need a number of fixtures, as well as guidance. She has been prompt and helpful, including(at my request) offering suggestions for alternative fixtures that we might like that could save us money. Full disclosure: we’ve placed our order, but not gotten the lighting yet. Having worked as closely with Patti as I have, I would expect absolute cooperation if any problems do crop up with the lights.

We have recently moved to Charlottesville; our new home is older and lacks wiring for overhead lighting in some rooms, so we were in the market for floor lamps, at least as a temporizing measure. We found an arc lamp we liked here, and placed an order. We received it quickly, but upon opening the box discovered parts missing, and the power cord torn or chewed, exposing the metal wire. Now, this is not necessarily the store’s fault, though I would expect better quality control on their products. My 2-star review is based on my less-than-stellar phone call to report the defect. I told the associate the issues, to which she responded that when you are buying«an entry-level lamp,» you have to expect that the quality would be much less. I’m sure $ 250 is entry-level for some, but it struck me as a very obnoxious and patronizing response. I also would not expect to pay any amount of money, no matter how«entry-level», for a fire/electrocution hazard. A lamp is not a complicated apparatus, and I have had fine luck with lamps from Target, Lowe’s, etc for much less money. After a few minutes of her expressing similar comments I became fairly angry; she finally did apologize and offer to re-order the lamp and have it delivered. However, I found the experience upsetting and will be taking my business elsewhere.
