Food is fantastic, but if you want to have a large event(more than 25), RUNTHEOTHERWAY! The staff will make you think that they are flexible and«not like normal country clubs,» but you will end up being overcharged and overworked for your event. For example, their least expensive wine is one that you can get at Kroger for $ 7 a bottle, but they charge you $ 30 a bottle. I understand needing to make a profit, but not on low quality wine, especially in Virginia’s wine country where people know better.(They did not even have one local winery on the wine list!) In terms of actual planning, we sent them emails and also called on the phone months before the event and would not get a response back for weeks. When we did get a response, they did not answer any of our questions so we would have to call back and ask them again(waiting another couple of weeks for a response, and the process continued). The only time we finally did get any answers or specifics was 3 weeks before our event and by that point, Greencroft did not give us any options. They just said, «you have to do it this way because the event is so close.» I think the root of this problem is that they changed their event coordinator this year, and their new director is not organized at all. If you want to write a check for twice or three times more than you should be paying and not really get anything more for it, then go with Greencroft. If you want the event a certain way or want someone that is easy to work with and to get ahold of, save yourself the money and the headache and do not even consider them.

Lovely old country(rural) Country Club. Quaint décor complete with fireplaces(that were not lit). Place settings were Churchill English… nice touch! We came with a group of 25 and got the entire parlor for our Christmas luncheon… were given three options for our entrees and three options for our dessert. I chose chicken marsala, which was good, but not great. The scalloped potatoes were delicious. There was not much of a vegetable to speak of… a slice of a stuffed cucumber, but then we did get a garden salad to start. For dessert, I had the chocolate cake. A little too much icing(how is that even possible), but good otherwise. Not sure if it was homemade or purchased. I could’ve eaten more, but I would’ve been a glutton. Portion sizes were actually adequate. Not impressed with the screen door.
