I had purchased a pair Alegria by PG Lite and wore twice on carpet then switched jobs and they were in my closet we packed house and moved across country was unpacking and found these shoes put them on and they felt weird on my feet took off and realized that they sold me two different sizes one is a 40 and one is a 39. Called store but manager was not in they took my number and said they would call back when manager was in, this was 3 weeks ago, bad customer service, I have spent hundreds in there store while living in Charlottesville but would not recommend them now after this experience, I am out $ 140 and have a useless pair of shoes.

I’m sorry to say that my first experience with Richey & Co Shoes will be my last. I visited in October 2012, and ordered a pair of shoes that were on display as part of a trunk show. The shoes were to ship directly to my home. Not only did the shoes never arrive after 9 – 10 weeks of waiting, but Richey never called to update me that the shoes had been put on back-order(in fact, they never proactively contacted me once), nor did any of their estimates about shipment ever prove accurate. It was only when I visited their store with my receipt, to cancel the order, that they said the cancellation had already been processed. That was certainly news to me, since I had yet to receive a refund. So a week after they canceled the order without notifying me, they finally refunded the money. While the people at Richey are certainly nice, they seem to have no grasp of customer service. Given the inconvenience and disappointment, I’d expect to be offered a a discount on another purchase, a gift certificate – something! But nothing was offered except a «sorry about that.»

I was a customer of Richey & Co. from 2001 – 2004 when I lived in Charlottesville. I bought all my shoes there, because they have a great product range for brands like Mephisto, Naot, Dansko and Smart Wool(among many others, but those are the ones I bought), but mostly because they offer Superior Customer Service. Now, many years later and living clear across the country, I needed to get another set of gel insoles that I remembered buying there back in 2003. Rather than shop around in my new city, I called Richey, which reconfirmed my inital opinion — within a couple of minutes, the store manager was able to figure out what product I was looking for and ship it out to me. Why would I deal with online shopping, when I could speak to a friendly, knowledgeable person? And on top of that, the price hasn’t gone up since I last bought them. Thanks, Richey & Co.
