Oriental Express

The food is great, but I love the disposition and personality of the owners! I absolutely adore when proprietors speak and smile, and have a happy manner when you enter their establishment. These owners personify happiness and peace, and I feel good when I come into their restaurant.
Great food! Great people!

Surprisingly great! I had the general tso’s chicken and the batter was perfect! Wasn’t too breaded, still crispy when I brought it home, and the sauce was flavorful. Only downfall was that it doesn’t deliver (i haven’t found a Chinese restaurant that delivers around my area yet). Will definitely order again.

This is my absolute favorite place to grab Chinese food ever since I discovered its existence a couple of years ago. Lunch specials make this an excellent choice if you want a ton of delicious food for a small price. One of the best parts is that the people who work there actually get to know you, greet you by name, and are happy to make small accommodations for you if you want an adjusted order. I recommend this location over any in town!

Expensive for an Asian place but the general tso’s was excellent, egg roll not so much. Next time I eat there I am trying the sushi options.

Best Chinese food ever! Words cannot explain how great the food and service are. They make special orders for you as well. I’m always ordering the shrimp tempura appetizer, seafood combination, the house special with pan fried noodles and the lo mein is always delicious! !

Very good Chinese takeout here folks. Great egg rolls. Good rice and plenty of it. I had the sweet and spicy chicken and it tasted awesome. I’ll definitely go back again. It’s a great deal for lunch.

One of the best Americanized Chinese food on the east coast. Unless you are eating in Chinatown and majority of the patrons are Chinese, you are eating American Chinese food. I used to drive from Crozet to pick up their food. Now I’m much closer. Hard working family owned and run carry out. Fresh and good food at reasonable prices. Customer service could be better, but no worse than any other Chinese place.

I understand why people like the lunch special, you get a lot for a low price. Though the food is bland, you have to add a lot of soy sauce. 80−90% of every dish is veggies, they give you very little protein. You have to pay extra to get the typical amount of meat a dish would have any where else. The owners are rude a majority of the time and act as if they are doing you a favor. The reality is Charlottesville doesn’t have good Chinese take out. I hate to say it but this town needs a PF Changs and a Pei Wei. As for Oriental Express, don’t bother, save your money.

We moved away from that part of town, but still drive up there to get this yummy food! Try the chicken with eggplant and garlic sauce. If i recall correctly, it is a family recipe, wont find it anywhere else. Friendly service, food always ready when promised.

How Shun Xing stays in business with this place across the street is beyond me. We’d been meaning to try it for a while, and finally did yesterday. Oriental Express is excellent!
I had vegetarian egg roll, egg drop soup, and vegetable fried rice. None of it was greasy, all was very tasty, including the second day. The veggies in the rice were nice and crisp, not the wimpy obviously frozen too long varieties I’ve seen at other Chinese places. I thoroughly enjoyed both meals I had from my choices.
My husband had the appetizer barbecue ribs, which were huge! I was expecting dinky little things, but these were impressive. He loved them. He also had the Mongolian beef both yesterday and today, and said it’s definitely five star.
We’re both very impressed and will definitely return. The only thing I could think that would deduct a star is that you can’t eat in, it’s carryout only, but there’s just no way I’m removing a star from their score. They deserve five stars.

Outstanding lunch value. I eat here regularly as do a number of people from my workplace. The owners are friendly.

I’ve been going to this place for years, they have awesome Chinese food and excellent service. The lunch specials are at an unbeatable price for amount of food you get.

We have ordered out here numerous times and have never had a bad dish. The owners are very nice and pickups have always been on time and pleasant.

Excellent Chinese food. I had the chicken & broccoli and crispy chicken (best I’ve ever had). I will definitely be back!
