A true Charlottesville experience! This time of year is the best for the Sunrise flight. With the cool, crisp mornings and prevailing winds blowing to the North, the flight path shows off some spectacular foliage. i could not take enough pictures! I was surprised it was not very cold, but when the pilot explained we are moving WITH the wind, so you aren’t feeling it, it made sense, but the opposite of saling, so dress for the temperature! Rick, the pilot, sure knows his stuff and is very informative. When we flew over the reservoir, he dipped the basket so it skimmed the water. Wasn’t at all scary, and very impressive flying. we were in the air about 45 minutes before we set down in a field, and every pitched in to roll up the balloon to pack it in the trailer that followed our flight. A van takes you back to the boars Head Inn This is not a cheap outing — over $ 200 per person — but unforgettable and great for a special occasion for when wealthy relatives visit!
