So now that you know about the WFNZ Doghouse, you might be wondering when you might hang out there, right? One option is, naturally, during Panthers games. It helps with the pain. Another is during special events, such as their BBQ Cookoff. Sure, they spelled«barbecue» wrong, but you can’t fault them for that(too much). For a measly five bucks, you get past the gate and get samples from McKoy’s, Mac’s, Sticky Fingers, Smokey Bones, Jim & Nick’s, King’s Kitchen, Hillbilly’s, Maurice’s, The Q Shack and Outlaw. Say what(«What»)? Five bucks, for all you can eat barbecue? That’s just nuts. I actually think that most people didn’t believe it. But it was true. Maybe they thought you had to pay something to get in, and then another fee to get to the meat. Not the case. Just pay at the gate, get a stamp and eat as much as you want. You can eat at one stall or all of them, going back as often as you want. You didn’t even have to get a fresh plate like at a buffet. There were two bad points. One is that the Doghouse really has no parking, and because of the needs of the teams to park their trailers and such, it was even worse than normal. The other is that it was a pretty hot day, and since there is little shade, that made it a bit nasty. But it was an awesome event. The overall winner(as chosen by attendees) was Jim & Nick’s. But I really enjoyed the ribs from Smokey Bones — someone I wouldn’t have expected. The real disappointment was from Outlaw. I typically love Outlaw, but here they just weren’t up to their normal quality. You never read about the Doghouse? Check it out!
