I had went and paid out of pocket to see Dr. Stovall and was treated like a common street urchin. I had been to the dental clinic at CMC and they were unable to numb me to extract a tooth but had caused the tooth to have a hairline crack in it due to the attempted removal. Anyway, I was in a lot of pain and found Dr. Stovall in the yellow pages and made an emergency appointment. I showed up and even though there was no one in the waiting area, I waited at least 20 minutes past my appointment to be called back and when I was finally called back the dental assistant asked me what was going on and u explained everything in great detail. The pain I was in was extraordinary and I was literally almost in tears because of this. When the dentist FINALLY came in the room I retold her everything that was going on. She opted to do an x-ray and saw the crack and told me that it needed to come out. However, she was in no position to extract it due to it being late in the day on a Friday and was afraid it would break off. She asked me to come back on Monday to have it extracted properly and u told her that would be fine but could she give me something for the pain over the weekend because all over the counter stuff wasn’t working. She, with no hesitation, denied me any medication for the pain. She gave me a long speech about how it’s not good for me to take anything strong and how she preferred not to prescribe any narcotics for pain even though I’m in severe pain. I was dumbfounded. I’m sitting there, paying this woman to help me get out of this horrible pain and she wants me to take ibuprofen all weekend long instead. I felt so abused and ripped off by this so called dentist. I was suffering and she had zero compassion for me. I paid my bill and left and refused to make another appointment. I went to Charlotte Dentistry and they immediately called me in some strong pain medication with no hesitation because they saw the pain I was in and when I told them what Dr. Stovall had done, they couldn’t believe a fellow dentist would tell a patient with a cracked tooth to take ibuprofen. I do not recommend this dentist. She is totally heartless with her patients and doesn’t care how they feel. Do not go to her for anything! She’s a rip off!

Dr. Stovall is a fantastic dentist that I highly recommend. In fact, oral surgeons recommend her… I moved to Charlotte from California and needed to find a dentist after a tooth implant started to wiggle. Following the advice my of childhood dentist, I called local a oral surgeon in the area to get a recommendation of who to see. You see, oral surgeons get to see the work of many dentists, so their office staff usually knows who the good ones are. In a heartbeat, Dr. Stovall was recommended. I was able to make an appointment the same day and come in. I was expecting that the crown of my implant needed to be re-cemented to secure it. Boy was I wrong. After carefully examining my teeth and taking x-rays, it appears that the bone of my jaw was cracked and that is why my implant was wiggling. Yikes, I know. Still, Dr. Stovall calming yet firmly explained the situation to me(at the end of the work day, nonetheless). She took the time to answer any and all of my questions and asked for the contact information of my oral surgeon in California so that she could explain the situation. Not only did Dr. Stovall give me time, attention, and concern in her office, she frequently emailed me well after work to update me of the surgeons recommendations. She even followed up with me just to make sure that things were progressing. That is going above and beyond any dental experience I have ever had. All in all, Dr. Stovall is very knowledgeable and dedicated to her profession and helping people in a way that I have never experienced.
