Update: visited again in gross workout clothes and received dazzling service. I felt very comfortable stopping in just to have my rings cleaned. They’ve created a comfortable and kind atmosphere to shop or not shop in my case. Regardless, we’ll be back.

I love Morrison’s jewelry and their sales staff is amazing but the individual(s) doing appraisals appear to be very unprofessional. I made an appointment to drop my ring off(and rush back to work) and the appraiser was over 20 mins late. I was then supposed to pick my ring up the following day around lunch and when I called the store to check they said the appraisers were supposed to be in at 11:30am but we’re still not there at 12:30pm and there were no additional updates. Very very poor professionalism in my opinion. Be on time or don’t bother coming in at all.

I lost a diamond in my wedding band and needed it to be replaced. I spoke a sales rep and they replaced the diamond and tightened all of the other loose diamonds for a VERY reasonable price and gave me a year guarantee, plus they checked my engagement ring and cleaned it while I was there. The staff was very friendly and knowledgable. We will definitely be going back!

My secret ring search lasted 3 months. I had been paying attention to my girlfriends’ conversations w/her girlfriends and was able to find the nontraditional ring she was eyeing. It was a green Amethyst center stone w/small diamonds surrounding it. Easy enough I thought, until I realized it was located in VT. Cool, I figured I would fly there to pick it up. Well after 3 phone calls, 2 w/unreturned vmessages and the 3rd w/them not providing the info I needed to feel good about the purchase. I decided against sending money and hoping for a good product or buying a flight for nothing. That led me to the CHAINSTORES aka The salesman seminars. My plan was to show them the ring she wanted and have them design from the pictures. Store #1 said they could do it but required 100% payment up front, yet they had no way of showing me how it would turn out except«it will look like the pictures.» Negative. Store #2 was larger. I figured I could get the Green stone from them and the setting elsewhere. Well upon walking in, I wasn’t greeted for 15 mins as I stood there. After losing patience and getting ready to exit, a guy walked out and asked if I had been helped… FF, he sold me the perfect green amethyst, so I asked about a custom setting for it. The salesman tactics ensued and he said they just made a custom ring that sounded exactly what I described. Needless to say it looked nothing like what I described. They’d made a custom design for a customer and gave me his renderings to purchase and still called it custom so they could charge me the extra $ 699 for it. And then he told me it would take 3 – 4 months for them to complete the ring so I needed to make a decision quick, as it was Nov and I planned to propose in March. After pondering on it and really praying about it, store #2 =Negative. Store #3 was a store I visited after hearing of sales and beautiful diamonds on an infomercial on KISS95.1. I entered the store and it was beautiful inside but anything that I could actually afford($ 2500-$ 3500) was way too small. The salesman showed me 2 different settings and of course there was an extra $ 300 custom fee because I wanted my green amethyst set in the middle opposed to a diamond. Store #3 = negative. Feeling defeated, I vented to a friend and he told me he used a local jeweler in NY. So I decided to google local jeweler’s in Charlotte. Enter Morrison Smith!!! Their website said specializing in custom jewelry. Armed w/a few questions, I called one morning to see how their customer service was and if they were any different than the chain stores. Pam answered the phone and told me they would be able to use my stone, there was no custom fee and that they could complete custom designs in 4 – 6 weeks bc they did everything in house. I set up a meeting for that same day to see if they were truly different. Upon entering the store, I was greeted w/in seconds and after asking for Pam she introduced herself as Pam Smith… the owner. We sat down and talked about what I was looking for, she actually took notes. I informed her I was currently dealing w/store#2 and she was ok w/that. For the 1st time in my search I felt like someone was actually being genuine and not trying to force me to buy. After mins of talking we were able to compare the pictures I had, my vision, and couple that w/a beautiful ring on display. All she asked for was a fair opportunity to get my business. Thinking about that experience, I called Pam back and told her that she had my business and my trust. She had no problem w/emailing me opposed to calling me(I didn’t want my girlfriend to know about the ring) when the renderings were ready, or if she had any questions. She explained the entire process to me and walked me through it each and every step of the way. When the rendering was ready, she was very open to the few changes I had to make it more unique. The ring was ready 12÷4÷15 and I called to see if I could come in 12⁄27 to pick it up b/c I wanted my mother in law to come w/me once she arrived from NJ. She was very open to that and assured me it would be not a problem. On 12⁄27 upon walking in and being greeted my mother in law fell in love w/the ring and Morrison Smith. She told me thank you for finding her a jeweler for when she move here in March. She called her sisters and told them I picked the best jeweler and how I did such a wonderful job w/the ring. She could not stop bragging about how nice the ring and Pam was to anyone who would listen. Of course I loved the points it was getting me w/my in laws. Later that day I proposed to my now fiancé & her 1st reaction was priceless. Fighting through tears she cried«It’s the exact ring that I wanted.» Speechless for a moment thinking about my experience w/Morrison Smith, then thinking no… it’s better than the one you wanted… then thinking let’s give Pam & her husband credit for this one… but it all came in due time. Go w/Morrison Smith!!!

Purchased my custom engagement ring here and was not disappointed. Very attentive service and an exceptional product. They refit the ring after the proposal and turned it around the same day. We will return for our bands and I will keep them in mind for any anniversaries. Money well spent.

Having visited Morrison a few times, I’ve had mostly great experiences. Let’s get the not-so-great out of the way. There was one visit, looking for a wedding band, where a young associate kept showing me bling when I kept asking for plain bands. All other visits, though, the staff has been respectful, responsive, and very helpful. I ended up finding the setting for my engagement ring here with the help of one of the associates. I was looking for something simply but unique and she nailed it! My ring even came in early and the associate called me to be sure I could have it as soon as possible, without us even asking! My mother-in-law had joined me for one of my ring trips and, since then, has driven across town specifically to go to Morrison. She’s had several pieces appraised here and recommended my brother-in-law and future sister-in-law use them for their rings. They did and ended up with exactly what they wanted with no hassle. Morrison has a good selection, including estate jewelry, for both men and women. The prices are reasonable. The staff is wonderful to work with, especially when you’re stressing over wedding stuff. They answer any questions you have and keep you informed. What you buy here you can get cleaned for free(My rings are quite overdue for a cleaning).

I recently went through the engagement ring purchasing process, which was ultimately fulfilled using Morrison Smith Jewelers. I was absolutely shocked by the exemplary level of service that I received, especially given my budget(which was relatively limited). Not once was I pressured to spend more, and in fact I was encouraged not to spend money«for the sake of spending it». There was a genuine desire to construct a special piece of jewelry tailored to align with my girlfriend’s(now my fiancé) personality and taste, which the staff helped to uncover by asking thoughtful questions about her. They even met with me after hours to accommodate my work schedule. The ring that was delivered is absolutely stunning. In my fiancé’s words(a direct quote): «I’ve never even seen a ring this beautiful!» I will be forever grateful for the guidance and expertise provided by Morrison Smith Jewelers and for the token of my affection for my fiancé that they provided. –Nate

I just bought my 40th birthday ring from Chuck Smith, and I must say they did a wonderful job. I am very picky, and it has taken me since August of 2011 to find the right jeweler! I literally looked at all the jewelers in town, on the web, even in California. Chuck was very professional, ethical, honest and definitely knows what he is talking about. I did not feel he was trying to make a quick sale, but really took the time so that I made the right choice. Thank you so much to everyone at Morrison Smith, you all will be my lifelong jewelers and look forward to doing business with you all again!

The physical location is fine, but the staff are not. We just needed a ring resized, and you could tell they were disinterested immediately. No «congratulations,» no smiles, nothing. If you aren’t excited about engagement rings on Valentine’s day, you may be in the wrong business. Picking the ring up was a little better in that someone smiled at me, but only after a few heads peeked up, looked me over, and went back to their paperwork. Yet I also need to consider the quality of their work, which was excellent. They make custom jewelry so it’s no surprise that they can resize a ring: 4 days and $ 60 yielded perfect results. I want to say that this store is below average, but I have had so many awful experiences recently that my standards may need adjusting. At least their apathy wasn’t as bad as the near-criminal intent to steal that I have suffered elsewhere.

I actually did some work for Morrison Smith in another life(many, many years ago — don’t tell anyone just how long ago that was). It’s also when they were but a tiny store, tucked into one end of the current location. In yet another tale, I bought my wife her engagement ring at their other location(now closed) in the Arboretum location. Now they’ve expanded this place in size — but as mentioned previously, the parking stinks, and because you’re right on Providence Road, you have to back into some crazy traffic. Solution? Definitely park on the side of the store. As to the store itself? It’s hit-or-miss. The quality of the product is definitely good, bordering on great, but the staff can make it or break it. Our favorite salesman left a long time ago, and those left can be a bit off-putting at times. Because we probably aren’t really the typical clientele, they don’t usually seem to want to spend much time with us. In many cases, prepare to drop some cash — or at least look like you will — or deal with the lack of service. One thing that is better-than-average is the after-the-sale service. Once you buy something, you can get cleanings and such pretty much forever.

Love classy jewelry? This is a wonderful place to go! Even better because they just remodeled the space. Gold(14K, 18K, white, chocolate, black, etc), silver, platinum, diamonds — sure, they have all of those. Titanium, stainless steel too. Colored gem stones and pearls and high end watches(sorry, «timepieces») of course. Selection is mostly classic design but there is some selection with an modern edge. Five stars because jewelry is almost my favorite thing on earth(rivaling food, wine, air, chocolate and Unilocal). Down one star for value — high end designs are priced like high end designs. Down one star for parking — the lot is practically on Providence Road. Park on the side road, you’ll thank me when you try to leave.
