I clearly waited too long to write this review. Obviously it wasn’t a standout joint in my book, as they are now closed.

Does anyone know where Greek Isles will relocate? Our only«go to» Greek restaurant in Charlotte. Family run, fantastic food and lots of «specials» throughout the week. Great people, great food. Hope to hear where they landed.. . SOON!

Excellent meal in a great location. Very nice patio and both inside and out were very clean. Santorini pasta was delicious and the gyro was perfect! The patio is dog friendly and we were able to bring the pup. Service was second to none, very prompt and lots of attention to detail.

My favorite restaurant hands down. Friendly staff, food is so authentic and delicious! I eat here every time I am in the area. Really love the desserts and bread too. Cannot wait for my next trip to Charlotte so I can dine here again!

This restaurant is a wonderful place to dine at. It is truly a landmark restaurant for Charlotte. The Greek Isles menu has authentic dishes to enjoy. Everything is delicious. The service is very good, the staff is helpful to answer questions. I go and order something different every time to try new things, and I’m never disappointed. It’s worth traveling to for a taste of Greece!

My husband and I enjoyed the most delicious dish that we have ever experienced in our lives: the«Octapodi» appetizer!!! We are both so hard pressed to think of any dish from any part of any meal from any restaurant from anywhere we have been in the world that would rather eat than this dish! It had the perfect texture with many delicious layers of flavors including lemon and smokiness from the grill. Apart from the Octapodi, we absolutely loved our two main entrees: the«Arni Psito»(roasted leg of lamb) and the«Mykonos»(grilled chicken and fresh linguini). They were both tasty. I loved the whipped butter that seemed to have herbs in it, too that came with the bread. We also enjoyed«Mythos» beer. It’s a very light, Greek lager. We found it to be refreshing. Plus they serve it to you in a cold glass so it stays extra chilled. The service was outstanding. Our hostess and waiter went above and beyond to make sure we were pleased as well as comfortable. They treated us as a combination of honored guests and family. I’m looking forward to coming back. !

Our visit here was completely random. It was meant to be! Due to a nearby crêpe restaurant being closed, I Unilocaled all other nearby restaurants and found this! Food: The gyros. Yes. So moist, perfected flavor, good amount, the side of potato fries so crisp but not oily. I shared a gyro with my mom(we weren’t too hungry) and we were satisfied beyond belief. Oh and the flaming cheese, not worth it for me. I expected more of a dip for some reason(I may lack experience with flaming cheeses). And I wish I was warned that it was coming because it flamed(in a beautiful fashion) for a max of .5 seconds. It reminded me of cheese that gets crisp in an oven. Not special taste wise, and too oily for me. We ate about ½ of it. The bread and butter was. Perfection. The bread warm and toasty. The butter was a whipped mix of pungent rosemary and a hint of sweet honey. A combo I will forever remember. This is sad, but I will admit we loved the butter so much that we packed the leftover into our purse.(We had a top to our plastic container) No shame. Service: Top notch. Extremely nice and patient. Water was always filled to the top. Quick, but not rushed. Just genuinely nice people work there from what I saw. Environment: great location. Décor was almost on the edge of cheesy but in a cute way that reminded me of my Russian grandma for some strange reason. It seemed authentically Greek. I liked that. It made me feel like wow now this a real Greek restaurant. I like this place. Wish I lived closer to Charlotte.

Came here on Saturday for the first time with some friends. Located right off the light rail in South End. Inside is huge with greek related decorations all around. Ordered the My Fat Greek Red Wine… purely cause of the name! Well priced. Little sweeter than what I was expecting but still good. We ordered two flaming cheeses for the table of 4 us. They set it on fire right in front of you! Awesome flavor, especially on the bread! I ordered the Pork Souvlaki(Gyro).Sliced pork on a pita. Came with potato rounds and a heaping pile of tzatziki. Super flavorful!

Had a great dinner at Greek Isles over the weekend and will be back. We had a table of 4 and everyone enjoyed their dish. I was a bit boring in my choice and went with the chicken kabobs. They were delicious; grilled chicken over roasted veggies and rice. Nothing but good things on the service side. Our server was attentive and knowledgeable. He described the specials, made recommendations, answered all questions. The menu was a bit more expensive than I anticipated. Most entrées around that $ 20 mark.

After a long week at work, I was craving a delicious meal. The bf suggested Greek Isles and we went on a Greek adventure. Flaming cheese is a must, just do yourself a favor and order it. OPA! The squid was so fresh, light and simply delicious. Green beans like I never tasted before. I really like the grape leaves rolls called dolmades(we ordered them with no sauce as an appetizer) yummy! We also ate the catch of the day. Was impressed but how fresh their seafood is. Love it!!! Service was great. The server and one of the owners stopped by our table and made sure everything was great. Nothing better than amazing food, combined with excellent service. I will be back!!! Maybe this week =) Of course I had dessert, don’t ask me the name. It was greek and delish.

I just recently moved here from NY and I was super excited to find a Greek restaurant real close to my apartment. After being spoiled with amazing Greek food for the past few years it was really hard to give this place more than 3 stars. I also found them to be a bit pricey for what you actually get. I got the chicken kabobs. Chicken was cooked well but lacked some flavor. I would typically prefer smaller pieces of meat vs the 2 large pieces I got per kabob. You also get a veggie skewer with your order which seems like it’s just there to fill up a lacking plate. Service was pretty good, beers were cold — overall it wasn’t too bad — it won’t be going on the list of places that I can go to for a nice dinner date, birthday dinner, anniversary, etc. however, I will give them another shot.

I finally made it to the Greek Isles for lunch and they didn’t disappoint! My friends and I arrived right at noon and we were seated immediately. No lunch rush! And our waitress was very friendly and offered a lot if suggestions since it was our first visit. I kept it simple and ordered the gyro pita. It comes with with all the fixin’s on the side(lettuce, onions and feta) and greek chips to complete the dish. I was pleasantly surprised by how good it was! The pita bread was warm and meat was seasoned perfectly. It was just the right amount of everything! I love that it comes out as an open pita sandwich so you can add as much or little if the toppings as you like. And I’d be remiss not to mention the tzatziki sauce! It’s a winner! The Greek chips reminded me of home fries! I loved them. They have daily specials and some delicious looking desserts at the front door… so I’m sure I’ll be back.

The Greek Isles website advertises a special offer for the last week of every month that includes 3 courses plus a glass of wine for $ 20, which brought us into the restaurant last night, Wednesday July 30. That certainly seemed to qualify as a day in the last week of the month to us. When we arrived at the restaurant for our reservation, we were told that«the last week of the month» ended Tuesday July 29th! Under any logic, how could the last week of the month end on a Tuesday, with 2 days remaining? If it included a Tuesday, why not Wednesday the 30th and Tuesday the 31st. This is clearly false advertising.

Despite the multiple visit to AAP, this was the first time I’ve been to the Greek Isles restaurant right nearby. Came here though a couple of days ago for a birfday dinner before plans to get sloshed uptown. Of course, everyone finds a way to lag so I end up watching some soccer highlights and ordering a Hendricks and Tonic. Worst H&T ever. Tonic was flatter than…(I’ll keep this G-rated). flatter than a tapeworm, dude! I had specified getting cucumbers, but the dude threw in two limes. =( Dinner was pretty good — the Chicken Kabob was solid. The chicken wasn’t dry and had nice texture. The vegetable skewer that came with it looked a bit skimpy. I recommend that they get shorter skewers if they are gonna use less vegetables. Presentation-wise it just looked a bit flimsy. They must not have many birthday dinners there. We wanted something special and the best the kitchen could whip up was 6 doughnut holes with a candle that couldn’t stay balanced in the middle of them. Just not possible, brah. Shoulda just stabbed one of them instead. But yeah, poor execution on that. So yeah, less than stellar performance, GI. dmo out

One of these days I am gonna have to drop into this place for a meal. Not just for their fantastic Baklava. Though for Dexter and me it is just a walk down the road and I won’t lie. The smell from the food is what causes me to stop and at least get a treat to eat. If you LOVE Greek food you really need to check this place out. They are dog friendly with well mannered pets. I will update this review when we eat a meal here!(PROMISE!)

I think had I ordered something different my rating would be higher. For starters… the bread and butter… can we pause for a minute to talk about the deliciousness that is the butter? It’s herby(garlic?) and sweet and most importantly… SOFT! My date got the pastichio. It was way better than the pastichio I had at the greek fest. I should have gotten that… or really anything but what I ended up picking. I got the pasta with chicken, artichokes, spinache and white beans. Firstly it was steaming hot. Like my date finished half of his meal before I could venture more than a nibble of mine. I guess i was expecting something more from the blush Ozu cream sauce… I got nothing resembling cream. Also the chicken pieces were small. The meal wasn’t bad, just a case of expecting A an getting B and never getting over it. The dessert was just OK. But honestly I think that was more a function of my company than the food. Bad date and I was ready to get the heck outta there. There’s a lot of good food in Charlotte — not sure I’ll make it a point to go back, but should anyone else suggest it I’d say heck yeah… and I’ll load up on bread and butter.
