Great little coffee stop, wish it was in Punta Gorda downtown. Has a NY, ME feeling. Lots of seating and comfortable old furniture. Places to set up your computer and one doesn’t feel rushed. Try Mercer’s in Port Charlotte, great coffee!!!

I showed up just as Wayne was closing the doors but he was so kind to let me grab a bag of coffee before I hit the road. He was generous enough to take a few minutes to «talk shop» with me about his business and even gave me a peek at his roaster! It’s hard to come by coffee experts in south west Florida but Mercers Coffee certainly fits the bill! As a transport to the state from California I know good coffee, and Wayne(in addition to being a good person) has some of the best coffee in the state. Great coffee. Great owner. Two thumbs up.

As the owner so politely told me via Facebook message I don’t know my a** from a hole in the ground when it comes to good coffee” I have been here twice, the coffee was terrible and the girl burnt the milk, the coffee was bitter and over extracted. Accept responsibility, offer an apology, try to make it right… That is how you run a business, not finding someone on Facebook and acting like a child because you don’t like their review! I would have considered coming back, however after this display of immaturity and terrible customer service I will never come back and will go out of my way to tell people my story!

Nice small coffee house in Charlotte Harbor. If you’re crazy about fresh roasted coffee this is your place. The owner Wayne is a great guy who can talk all day about coffee and different brewing methods that he has discovered.

After searching for 2 days for a good coffee shop I found this place. The vibe when I walked in was very inviting & homey. They roast their owns beans. The latte I got was a little too hot temp wise. I couldn’t drink it for about 20 minutes. The flavor was excellent. Although I didn’t get it they serve pour overs. We got breakfast sandwiches that were very good.

Great place to stop by and have some coffee. We got lucky when we stopped by… there was a large group of singers and musicians playing guitars and singing. Great experience. The espresso was delicious and the herb tea was fresh and tasty.

Passing thru Charlotte harbor and used our waze app to locate this coffee house. They offer coffee from around the world and panini sandwiches along with other pastries. Wine and craft beer to be available soon. Relaxed table and leather chair seating with pleasant background music. Couldn’t ask for more. We recommend you stop in when in the area. Kenny

We were visiting the area for vendor training from Los Angeles. I found this place on Unilocal and we loved it so much we stopped by every morning for the remainder of our trip. GREAT coffee and great ambiance!

I have tried this coffee house 3 times. Each time I go back hoping it will have improved on service. Not going to happen evidentially. Last time the owner and another employee did not rescue the one person working behind the counter with 8 people waiting to be served! The biggest complaint however is they do NOT brew decaf coffee. Its a COFFEE shop for goodness sakes, but no decaf for customers other than something they charge $ 2.68 which tastes like instant. I actually was given a cup of «decaf» that was made from espresso and watered down with ice! Three strikes and you’re out! p. s. a tip to the owner: Maybe people don’t come to help«use up that pot of decaf you’ve brewed» because their first encounter of decaf at your shop is enough for them to say… never again. If you brewed some decent decaf for people I think, as that baseball movie said, «they will come».

Great selection of origin coffee’s which have been roasted in house. The Coffee is available to take home in 1 pound bags, the atmosphere is encouraging for conversation and the loose leaf tea selection was outstanding. I would say the biggest selling point is the fresh roasted coffee from some of the greatest country origins. My request to Mercers would be to have all the origin coffees available for French press so It can enjoyed right there rather than what has been pre-brewed in the pot, have the bags of coffee in smaller batches(10−12oz) and perhaps have the staff a little more trained on the coffees(they were new so I understood but I was hoping they knew a little more about the coffees) Overall, having a local coffee roaster in Port Charlotte is really a jewel to be discovered!

Went there today after almost a year! My wife wanted a a cup of coffee since it helps her migraine. The place is so tastefully done. There was live music at lunch-time. Now they have a menu of sandwiches. The coffee roasting room is worth checking. They have beans from all over the world. Owners are warm & friendly. There’s plenty of cookies & cakes. A really great place to unwind. Coffee chain-restaurants cannot even come close to this place’s quality & personal attention.

I finally found a great independent coffee house in Port Charlotte. The coffee is roasted on site and the cup of medium roast that I drank was excellent. The place is full of comfy seats that make it a real coffee house. The only improvement would be for them to stay open later at night.

A Coffee Shop with only one stainless steel milk frothing pitcher??? Wow, I think that would have to be unheard of, until now of course. I’m a bit disappointed — all because I requested soy milk. He had no other pitcher to froth the milk; so after looking around, he grabbed a plastic measuring cup. I am not fond of heating plastic… I don’t think it’s meant to be heated to such temperatures. It’s okay if you don’t have enough of the standard equipment, the least they could do is go buy a glass measuring cup if that’s going to be their back up… Alright, on to the drink itself. The milk wasn’t properly frothed, blah. A tough bit to swallow after my amazing latte yesterday, as odd as it sounds, from Nordstrom’s eBar. Half of winning over an espresso drinker’s heart is good MICROFOAM, yet so many places fail miserably but I guess why try hard when there is no good competition out there. Apparently when it comes to lattes, I’m a tough gal to please — at least in FL. After trying so many places, most of them including here leave a lot to be desired.

Very good espresso. .. and a very clean, tasteful décor, very comfortable, and best of all the music was not WAILING away, like at half of the Starbucks’ that I go to(and I’ve been to LOTS of Starbucks’s locations…)

Excellent fresh coffee! Wayne, the owner, is very particular about his coffee. Everything is shipped to them green and roasted in house. I highly recommend getting the french press coffee and asking them to suggest what’s good. They’ve made lots of changes to make this place even more cozy. Kudos to Mercer’s!

Our obsession with Mercer’s started with a trip to the farmers market. We spotted the fresh roasterd coffee booth and purchased a pound of coffee. It’s local so we were game to give it a try. It was perfection! We now stop in to their store front for lattes and to stock up on beans. The store front has a cute cozy feel with little love seats tucked in the corners and a huge selection of fresh rosted beans.
