This used book store used to be a house. It’s on a side street in downtown Charlevoix, just off the beaten path. There is a book shelf on the front porch where the really inexpensive books are. You pay on the honor system, putting your money into a little can. There is a box of free books. Nice! The ground floor of this place seems mostly devoted to fine and antiquarian used books. For the right person, this place would be a real treasure. There is a section for books featuring Michigan and local places. We came here hoping to find sci-fi books — Star Trek, Star Wars, etc. The first time we stopped by, the place was busy and we were not able to ask the proprietor for help. We wandered upstairs and saw a sign marked«sci fi» on the second door to the right. We never did find any sci-fi books in there. We left empty-handed. Two days later, we tried again. We asked if it would be OK to bring our dog in, and the proprietor said it’d be fine. We asked him where to find the sci-fi. He told us to try upstairs — the first door on the LEFT. Yep. A whole wall of sci-fi. Isaac Asimov, Orson Scott Card, Arthur C. Clarke, Frank Herbert and others. I found a lot of Star Trek books. Hubby did not find any of his Star Wars books, but his series is a lot newer than mine. The prices are reasonable. Most of the mass market paperback books I got were priced at $ 1.00.
