Really enjoyed trying this second location yesterday! As other reviewers have mentioned it’s bigger and a little brighter than the Savannah highway locale. I got the typical white girl Chicken Tikka Masala and my more adventurous other half got the Goat Korma. Both servings of meat were a little less than we’d hoped for for the price but the seasoning was great. The Onion kulcha was probably the best I’ve tried. Word to the wise — they’ll ask if you want your dish«mild, medium, or spicy» but after further discussion with our server you can ASK for«extra spicy» or «hot». Their medium was very mild! If we were going just on service I’d give this place five stars! Our server was wonderful and went out of his way to get us out the door quickly for a movie, as well as helping occupy the very busy toddler at the table next to us(bringing her a balloon and some candy at various points in the evening). My West Ashley go to used to be Nirlep but they are MUCH friendlier here! Can’t wait to try their lunch buffet!

Delicious food and extremely friendly staff. Lunch is always delicious with lots of options. Dinner tonight had refills on rice, hot fresh garlic naan, never empty water glasses and was a wonderful value.

Wow! The food was incredible. We did the buffet to have a taste of everything. Nothing disappointed me. The staff is so super nice. They brought fresh bread right it of the oven to our table. Amazing!

Sterno what… sterno who? Stopped by for the lunch buffet and practically everything was cold. I asked the server to please put my plate in the microwave to warm my cold food… which he did. He then went to check all of the sternos and low and behold they were all empty. He did replace them so the food would be warm but offered nothing more to us. We will not be back jack!

Tried this place for the first time at their new location, it was really good. The proprietors seem to go the extra mile. To start with the tables all have white tablecloths, which I appreciated and they serve your drinks in very nice glasses. The buffet was excellent. The food was all perfectly cooked and had very clean flavors. I wish the food had a little more spice but I understand they have to appeal to the masses and most of their patrons probably prefer the mildness of the dishes they had out. I also would’ve liked to have seen some sort of fish or other meat on the buffet instead of one of the chicken dishes. Ultimately though, I’m splitting hairs. I would definitely recommend this place. It was really good and very well priced at $ 10.

This place was friendly and had a comfortable at home feeling. I could tell there were some regulars because the guy who sat us down kept them in he know of changes and ideas he had for this new location. Despite the fact the regulars didn’t like change. I’ve been to the original Taste of India on Savannah Hwy. This place is definitely bigger and brighter. Their buffet looked beautiful with hotel style buffet layout and containers. Now i remember when Charleston Indian cuisine would come in town. They would have delicious food. Possibly due to location or culture clash they would close down within their first year. They were normally located downtown and it was almost always very expensive. Now a days we have at least 3 competing cuisines in Charleston County alone. Now I will have to say Taste of India was always the easier restaurant to start expanding your palate because the food isn’t as spicy as one would expect Indian cuisine to be. That being said I have acquired a taste for Indian cuisine and this place has too much competition to just lay on their laurels about flavor. You have to have flavorful food to get people to return. Indian food was not meant to be bland. It’s curry. It’s korma. It’s chutney should all have a little kick to it. That would be the only reason for me to return. We do give them a chance every year to see if they turn up the notch on the flavors but have yet to see it happen. For their regulars sake I hope they don’t change. For my business I would need to see a change. Otherwise, I’ll continue to be a once every couple-few years or so customer.

Glad to see one of or favorite India restaurants open up a second location in the West Ashley area. Taste of India has taken over the old Gennaro’s next to the Bi-lo shopping center off Sam Rittenberg Blvd. Dinner was delicious, as expected. We started with the Vegetable Platter appetizer. The samosas are definitely my favorite. Who doesn’t like a crispy fried pastry pocket filled with curry goodness?! For dinner I had the Chicken Tikki Masala and Matt had the Lamb Curry. Both were equally delicious so we shared bites. You can’t have Indian without a good side of naan. I’m glad to see Taste of India will also have their lunch buffet in their new location. Word on the street is their full bar will be open in the next few week too!
