South of Philly

I would give this zero stars if this were an option. I’m currently staying at a hotel a ½ mile away, and they refuse to deliver here, even though they claim to have delivery service. Furthermore, the lady on the phone was incredibly rude. So much for southern hospitality.

We had a coupon, so we decided to check this place out. I’d heard it was the best pizza around. The dough was nice and thin, but the sauce was average. We split a chicken finger salad that was really delicious! The bacon was so crisp and there was a good mix of lettuce, cheese, etc… We also split a cheese steak. The meat was high quality, but it wasn’t the style we liked. So, it was not my favorite, but definitely a decent place to try if you are on that side of town.

As a NY native (BK!), I’m a *little* picky about my pizza. But it’s been about ten years since I’ve called NY my home, so I’ve softened a little. South of Philly passed my new standards and I thought it was pretty good. We ordered a 14″ pie (yes, that is the unit of pizza and it is not up for debate), a regular salad, hot wings, and brownie bites. I like my pizza piping hot and it was somewhere between warm and hot when delivered, so it tasted only ok out of the box. After a quick pop in the toaster oven, it was pretty tasty. Topped off with some of the mystery spice mixture that came with it, and I kept going back for more and more! The salad was good, wings ok («giant» is definitely an overstatement). The best part was the brownie bites, hands down. They are deep-​fried and sprinkled with powdered sugar. This alone is enough reason to return– my mouth is watering just thinking about them!

My husband and I were visiting Charleston about a week ago and fell in love with the city. One night we decided to order pizza to be delivered to our hotel. After a quick google/​yelp search, we decided to try South of Philly and I am SO glad we did!
Not only was this the best pizza I have had since I visited NYC, but the delivery driver was wonderful– without getting into the details, we overpaid him by a significant amount and he called us after he left to let us know of the mistake. He returned with the cash we gave him by accident. He was patient, honest, and made the effort to come back and rectify OUR mistake. I wish I could remember his name so I could let his boss know that this is a stellar employee. And we sure did tip him well as a result.
In a nutshell– great pizza, great delivery, great customer service!

Pizza and staff were great but sadly this South Wnderemere location no longer exsists.

Great pizza little 2 greasy

Damn good pizza. Its far out of my way so I don’t get it as often as i like, but i would highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys good thin crust pizza.

I have passed this little pizzeria a number of times and never stopped in, but this time my husband and I stopped in and I am glad we did. We just had a medium pepperoni pizza and this pizza had a great crust and plenty of cheese. If I had one disappointment with the pizza, it was a bit lacking in pepperoni, but with a crust like that, I am not sure I missed it. Next time, we will order a large so that we have extra slices to take home. The restaurant is not huge, so I suspect they do a lot of take out and delivery, but it is well decorated and clean. The staff is friendly and service is excellent.
