Sorry to see the original owners go. Don’t know the story, but it has new owners with a new name«Ko Cha». Same Korean theme and I still go as there aren’t many places in Charleston that you can get Asian food«off the main path».

One probably wouldn’t expect much at a gas station, but this is surprisingly good food. I came here solely based on the few reviews that I saw on Unilocal. But that’s sort of draw of this place — an unexpected adventure for korean food. Service was good — pretty quick too. They were very patient w/us as we ordered a variety of things. Their menus have plenty of pictures too. Note: don’t expect the best Korean food ever, but for this region, it’s good. Bonus points for using Square for checkout!

This place was pretty good. They just changed hands and the name to Ko Cha Korean Restaurant. I have no idea how it was before, but I’d come back if I’m in the area. The place is attached to an Exxon gas station, which I thought was a little odd, but nothing to worry about. Inside, it was decently decorated. I didn’t look like a fast food joint, so I was ok with it. For the menu, they had a good amount of items. Not too big and not too small. The prices were decent. Back in California, the prices were comparable. I ordered the bulgogi bento box, which came with the boneless pork meat, white rice, kim chi, jap che noodles, some meat balls, 2 pieces of fish cake, and some sauteed vegetables. A lot of food for the price. My meat was a little spicy for the mild I ordered. I ate it all, but it would have been nicer if it were less spicy. The kim chi was nice. I also got to taste my friend’s kalbi(Korean short ribs) and it was delicious. The owner lady was nice. She gave some good service. She wasn’t the best at english, but was good enough to order food from.

The food is good here. Not bad, but not the best Korean ever. It is good enough to satisfy a craving.

Cant seem to be as ecstatic about this place as other reviewers. I had korean bbq(forgot the name) and it was definitely leftover reheated stuff. Plus the place was kinda pricey for a tiny take out. I might give it another try and update the review

This amazing, authentic Korean restaurant is worth seeking out. The food is excellent and the owners are a sweet young couple who cook and run the front. Impeccably clean with a simple atmosphere you go for great food. The Korean pancake is the best we have ever had. The Bibimbap, hot bowl, was fabulous. The salads and side dishes perfect including the very tasty kimchi perfectly prepared. Expect a unique, authentic Korean meal served by people who care.

Authentic Korean food. Dont be fooled by its location(right beside an exxon station) its one of the best korean food I have had. Great bulgogi and kal-bi, seafood tofu soup is a hit for spicy food lovers!

I live close to this restaurant but did not know it was there because I do not get gas there. I am glad that I found it! I am only slightly familiar with Korean food but enjoyed what I ordered, which was the lunch portion of Bul-go-ki. I agree that this place is a dollar or two more than expected but quite frankly I will gladly pay that not to get salty goop. All appeared home made of fresh ingredients. I will be back to try something more adventurous.

My husband likes this place, but I really don’t care for it. I’m a vegetarian, and there really aren’t very many options for me. The dish I got was some sort of sweet potato noodles with veggies. I really couldn’t tell the difference in it and regular noodles, and it didn’t have that many veggies. I guess if you eat meat, it probably works for you, but I felt like I paid $ 8 for something slightly better than ramen…

The japchae(sweet potato rice noodles) was sooo great, holy moly, but I thought the prices to be a dollar or two high for a little hidden Korean restaurant like this. I can’t argue with the food, it was excellent, I also tried the bibimbop bowl as well the kimchee. It was all love at first taste. However, I firmly believe that for the location and ambiance — it is part of a gas station for crap’s sake, I mean really? — their plates should definitely be less. I saw that their lunch prices on a few items were what I expected, but the dinner prices — nope. I will return, but not without clutching my wallet too tightly in fear of spending over $ 10 on myself at a restaurant that’s part of a gas station…

Awesome awesome! There’s literally no place in Charleston you can get this food. Very authentic. Get the dishes with«bento boxes» to get the real Korean treatment(with the side dishes/banchan that you need to try). Charleston does american food REALLY well– but ethnic food rarely. This helps push Charleston to a better foodie level.

Thank goodness for this restaurant! I just moved from California where good, authentic Korean food is easily accessible. The Dolsot bibimbap here was fantastic with a good assortment of side dishes to include homemade kimchi, japchae, fried chicken, spicy cucumbers, fishcake, and more! Just my kind pick-me-up! The Kimchi can also be purchased in 2 sized containers. This is better quality kimchi than what I saw at H&L market.

This place is AWESOME. Food is fresh and delicious, and seems to be very authentic(though I am no authority as I have never been to Korea or been exposed to authentic Korean food). We had the shrimp pancake and the beef bibimbap in a stone pot. It was plenty of food for two, but I could’ve eaten a lot more because it was so delicious. This isn’t a restaurant you’d go to for the ambiance, seeing as how it’s in the gas station, but it is definitely worth going to if you just want delicious, affordable food. I can’t wait to go back!

Located in a strip center between a gas station and a Quiznos, this place may appear a bit risky on the stomach. Don’t let the shady exterior fool you, inside holds… AUTHENTICKOREANFOOD! Most dishes are served in a bento box with several banchan choices(kimchi and other side dishes). Even the soup came with a bento box! Overall the food was very flavorful, the restaurant clean and the staff friendly and attentive. This was probably my favorite of all the places I ate in Charleston. DELICIOUS!

YUMYUM! I was craving some Korean food. So I check on my handy Unilocal app. It was a hidden gem. I did get lost looking for a building and not reading the reviews that it was at the gas station sharing the building. I have to say it was very clean inside. The lady that was there was so nice. We brought home some Kim Chi and it was soooooooo good we ate it all in 4 days. This is our new favorite hidden gem of charleston. !!!

Unexpected little Korean place, next to quiznos and Exxon. Ordered dol sot bi-bim-bahp. No bahn-chan to speak of. Ggak doo gee and kimchee. The dish was too hot not spicy. The pepper paste sauce was so mild, you can tell that not a lot of Koreans come here. Considering where this place is it gets a 4. fresh and clean tasting.

This is really authentic Korean food. The beef bulgogi, dolsot bibimbap, and lumpia have all been outstanding. The staff is very nice and you can tell they take pride in their work.

This is a great little Korean place. We split a beef bulgogi, chicken bulgogi and a plate of dumplings. It was plenty for my wife, two daughters and me. I really liked the kimchi and the salad dressing. The bulgogi could have been a little spicier for me, but it was perfect for the rest of my family. They don’t have a huge menu, but it all looked really good. Next time I have to try the bi bim bap.

Nice to have another option for good Korean food. Limited menu, but what’s on it is quite good. Hope this place sticks around.
