I used to love this place. It has been terrible the 3 times I’ve been there. Will NOT go back. The shrimp still had shells and legs on them. I’m done.

the chile verde is heavenly, perfectly marinated tender chunks of pork served with rice, refried beans and tortillas. good drink prices and specials, friendly staff, monday night karaōke when I visited, nice atmosphere. I had low expectations for a Mexican restaurant in West Virginia having lived in New Mexico for years, but was pleasantly surprised. Yes there are Tex-Mex or Ameri-Mex items on the menu like chimichangas since they have to satisfy the cravings of a highly Anglo WV crowd; but the food and service are quite good. I will return for sure! Nice bar area with TVs, chill friendly ambience.

Chimichangas, queso dip, and«Point Break» Let’s be honest, most of the Mexican restaurants in Charleston are pretty much the same thing. What sets Plaza Maya apart from the rest is that it is much cleaner, the staff is very friendly, and the food is excellent. I ordered my usual chicken chimichangas. They were delicious. The beans and rice were also great. My only complaints are the chips are a little stale. Too bad they don’t have chips like Chili’s. That would be awesome. My other complaint is the restrooms are a little cramped. Oh and one big plus is «Point Break» was on the tv while we were there. Can’t beat chimichangas with Swayze.

Very good food, great service. Had the burrito, my son had the chicken fajitas, one of the others had the steak and another had a combo platter with a taco, beans and rice. Everyone enjoyed their food and the service was fast and friendly.

This was the best Mexican restaurant I been to in the Charleston area. The service was great, and food had lots of flavor. The portions were large for the price.

Excellent! Good service, food was amazing, the other reviews are definitely right about this gem. The chips are salsa were so fresh and good, my fajitas were sizzling when they came out. This place rocks. Definitely coming back again

Nice New Mexican Restaurant and bar, spacious and clean renovation of what used to be a Thai and Filipino place(which I also loved). Not gourmet or unusual dishes but good basic Mexican, large menu, good drinks too. A little hidden behind train tracks one block from a busy thoroughfare and hospital. Plenty of free parking unlike downtown spots.

It was our first time coming here and from the outside it looks ok. But once inside, the seat you. Our waiter didn’t know English very well though, but he was very nice. The place has a nice atmosphere for couples or with kids. We had 4 in our party. The food here is WONDERFUL and portions were large! You won’t be disappointed! The staff was all smiles and very courteous. My better half even went to the owner and told him that we would write a great review because he was so satisfied. So here it is… we are going back for sure!!!

From the outside it doesn’t look like much but the inside is spacious and clean. They have a bar and tvs as well. Very comfortable setting. Staff was extremely nice. Got the chimichangas and Texas fajitas. Both delicious. I will return. This will be my new Mexican place. Loved it

Finally! I’ve lived in Charleston for almost a year now and still drive to Huntington for my favorite Mexican restaurant. The first thing I look for in a good Mexican restaurant is chunky guacamole. Order it «Mexican Style» and you won’t be disappointed. This place was super clean and has a lot of space. My only complaint is that there’s not Tacos Asados or El Pastor on the menu but maybe one day I can talk them into it.
