First time trying their sandwiches and I really loved it. The price was reasonable and services were really fast. Highly recommended!

Oh God! Coming from a big city, this place and their food reminded me of the mom and pop shops that have the most tasty, comforting food. Their bread was really good. Owner says they get it fresh every day from Baguette Magic. Their phở was heavenly. It reminded me of my friend’s mom phở! And their coffee is super strong and a must get. Great location downtown but parking is really hard. I’ve reluctantly parked in the FedEx parking with luck every time. Wait time is generally short but expect to wait a bit if their is a lunch crowd.

Pulled Pork Banh Mi & Toasted Sweet Tea(Matcha green tea, ginger, toasted brown rice) – FANTASTIC!!! Fast, friendly service too! Too bad I’ll only be in Charleston a few more days, which means I’ll only get to eat here a few more times…

Holy moly Batman, this food is great!!! We had the Rice bowl(with egg and pork), pork sandwich, and the fancy green tea with ginger. Everything was superb. I could not put the rice down, the flavor was so delicious. Not sure why it tasted so much better than other places but the tummy knows what it likes. They told me they hang near St. Phillips and Calhoun during the week. Try them!!!

2 legit 2 quit. I love. I now request favors paid back with the Realest. This is one of those places where you wanna try something new, but your usual is just so good. I only wish Pink Bellies cruised through my hood like the ice cream trucks of yore. I’d be sitting on my porch with a bucket of Philadelphia cream cheese(*check out my tip) waiting for it to come by.

The Vietnamese iced coffee and the iced green tea were delectable! The coffee was bold and sweet. The tea was a unique, refreshing flavor. Highly recommend!

I’m going to preface this by saying that I’m a(half) Vietnamese girl who grew up in a large metropolitan area(so I’m picky because the bar was set high at a young age). Pink Bellies is probably THE best Vietnamese food I’ve had in Chucktown. Banh Mi(I know I’m going to catch flack for this, but for heaven’s sake people… it’s BaNh Mi not BaHn Mi – it’s not German!) — Excellent. I prefer the original version, but the Blueberry Pulled Pork is good too. The bread is on point. Bun Thit Nuong(Pork Noodle Bowl) — My husband says this is the best he’s had since we left DC. Pork was well seasoned and the accoutrements were fresh. Nuoc Mam was perfectly blended. My only qualm was that we took it to-go and the container it was served in had no lid so we had to make sure to be careful in carrying it. All in all delicious. Made me miss my Mama’s cooking. Chicken Phở — I wish he carried this all the time! I asked Thai the last time I saw him when he would be bringing it back and he said that with it being summer and all he took it off the menu(totally understandable) but I love Phở year round, so that’s just me being selfish. Great flavor, missing some of the garnishes, but overall very good for a food truck. I mean, come on! Good phở from a food truck! That’s awesome. Garlic Noodles — I know this is for the college crowd. I’m a purist so I was a little«meh» about Asian noodles being tossed in Parmesan, but my kids loved it. The meat had similar seasoning to a Kho Bo(Vietnamese beef jerky) which I love, so that was nice. Has a nice punch to it. Vietnamese Coffee — This. Omg This. Authentic, delicious and the best thing since coffee at a roadside stand in Saigon. Yummy in my tummy. Avocado Smoothie — Tasty, but y’all need a new blender. It was very icy. In your defense though, I ordered a bunch and you guys were busy. Suggestion: Try adding some boba. That would totally make it Asian-crowd worthy. I recommend Pink Bellies every chance I get. On one hand, like another reviewer so aptly put, I don’t want to ruin the secret, but at the same time, I want to support a growing entrepreneur and share how awesome the food is! You need a store front so I can come there for dinner too! ;) Keep up the good work!

I have been eating Vietnamese food since way before it was cool. Having a Vietnam War veteran father with an immense respect for the culture he fought to preserve, he passed that cultural love to me at a young age. Nothing made me happier than driving be out to Ashley Phosphate to Binh Minh(now sadly closed) for platters of Summer Rolls, steamy bowls of traditional Phở, and the rice vermicelli noodle salad with lemongrass BBQ pork(Bun Thit… I thin) k. While I still crave that bit of nostalgia and family style Vietnamese from Bah King(owner and head chef), Pink Bellies holds many of the those elements that I loved, plus some exciting twists that gives some wonderful new tastes to some old favorites. The owner is one of the friendliest people you’ll ever meet. He mans the little retro food truck trailer nestled on the corner of St Phillips and Calhoun. Whether you are walking up or calling in(strongly recommend calling) he greets you like an old friend that you get together with every Thursday for happy hour. He is so happy and excited about his menu that you can help but join in and root him on as he prepares incredible phở and banh mi. Now I didn’t grow up with banh mi, but it’s the dish that reminds you that Vietnamese culture was inspired by its French colonization. This one is special, though, because I’ve never had the blueberry jam, and when mixed with the BBQ pork, you have a perfect blend of sweet and umami. So take a trip to the corner and have a treat. I recommend you try ginger green tea, and experiment with the different proteins you can add to the rice vermicelli noodles. They are all tasty and unique, but ask the man with the plan to ease off the garlic. It’s my only caution… you’d swear he was being hunted by vampires!!!

Insanely delicious! I highly recommend this place to everyone passing through Charleston. I almost don’t want to review it, as that will help ruin the secret! :) Pulled pork sandwich and green tea is a must. Ingredients are fresh and all natural. The entire experience-from the kind cashier at the window to the cleanliness of the food truck to the promptness of service – was excellent. I’ve eaten at several food trucks around town but none have met the quality of Pink Bellies. After eating, I must say it’s easy to see why they are rated among the top 20 food trucks in the entire United States. Excellence is difficult to achieve, and they’ve certainly done it. Pause your life and go eat here! The world can wait. Food trucks are mobile and on the go, so don’t let this one get away. Cheers! :)

My personal favorite is the Blueberry pulled Pork Bahn Mi. The combination of flavors is perfect, the sweetness of the blueberry jelly is a great addition! You have to try it! The owner, Thai, loves serving his food with a big smile on his face! This man knows what he is doing.

Awesome! A little hard to find, don’t use the address on their twitter profile because it takes you to wildflour bakery. They post where they are on twitter and I went by that afterwards. We tried the blueberry pulled pork bahn mi and the pulled pork bahn mi. Both on crispy yet soft baguette, filled with pickles veg and cilantro. BBQ pork was soft and moist, a little oily but that’s ok. Outside the truck they keep sriracha and hoisin sauce. I tried a Vietnamese coffee, sweet and strong. Not my scene. Boyfriend had a lychee soda — really good, I will totally recreate this at home. Overall, $ 6 a piece for a small bahn mi is reasonably priced. Glad I tried it, you should, too.

Outrageously good REAL Vietnamese in the heart of downtown. I had the Combo Bowl, and it might be the best vermicelli bowl I’ve had… anywhere. So excited Pink Bellies is here! Now please open a brick and mortar in Avondale/West Ashley!
