This place has a great variety of liquor and wine. But the most impressive thing to me was how knowledgeable they are about their products. My husband was talking to them about different tequilas and they suggested one to us, but not only that they let us try it to see if we liked it. Overall a great experience. I will definitely be going back

If you’re visiting Charleston and staying downtown, I would recommend paying Pence’s a visit.
Some of the hotels, Airbnb and inns do not have mini-​bars available so Pence’s is a good bet for minis. Also at $$$$ a glass of wine in a top restaurant, it’s nice to have one on hand in your room before you go out to eat. Best idea is to visit Pence’s for a gift to take home to friends such as a single batch bourbon. Management is knowledgeable, and they don’t mind it if you browse.

Pence, if you say you’re going to be open at 9am you need to be open at 9am. Some of us have work at 9am and are trying to make purchases beforehand. Two days in a row I’ve come and have waited outside at the designated opening hour and nobody is even inside and by 9:10 I have to leave. This is such an unnecessary and unprofessional way to lose business

Pence’s liquor and wine store on East Bay Street (old blockbuster bldg.) is just what the town has been waiting for. The store is incredible, so much space to browse and the open feeling you get, makes you feel so relaxed and never rushed. The staff is so
accommodating and very knowledgable. On a scale of 1 – 5, mine was a definite 5, and I can’t wait to experience their wine tasting every Friday 5−7pm! ~,~ !
