Stopped by tonight to grab some essentials for the week and stuff for an easy dinner. The aisles are small, the selection is decent, produce was picked over and bruised, and add about $ 2 to most things you would buy at Kroger or Publix. They are 5 minutes from the ocean yet they have 2 items in the seafood department that are from within 200 miles of South Carolina. They offer local shrimp for the«great» price of $ 12.99 per pound. You say hmmmm that’s not bad, and I say you can get it for $ 7 and meet the man who caught it at a half dozen other places in the area. The worst part… The entire Island of Seabrook were all shopping at this store because it’s the only one unless you run up to Food Lion or Piggly Wiggly. I won’t be shopping here again on our trip. $ 180 for 5 bags of groceries… and we aren’t talking caviar and saffron people. Last part of my rant coming here. The staff were terrible! I asked a guy who worked there«do you carry charcoal» he replied«charcoal…I don’t… what’s… nooooo. …I don’t know». WTF does that even mean? I got a similar response when I asked a lady where the nearest gas station was.“I don’t know”. Clearly she drives to work so you’d think that would be a reasonable question, but apparently awkwardly giggling and shrugging your shoulders is the thing to do. PS charcoal is on aisle 6

Newton Farms reminds me of a combination of Fresh Market and Whole Foods. They have a captive and convenient location, so expect to pay more for the items you purchase. They do carry an extensive selection of items you would not find at another Market or chain. The wine selection is excellent for mid $ 35.00 to high $ 97.00 a bottle of wine. Also a good selection of IPA Beer. Select cuts of meat and a selection second to none for seafood. At least in the area. Like I said it is very conveniently located. I was put off by a few things, when walking in the store I was cut off by an employee and never said a thing. Also I was getting a 6 pack of beer and one of the attendants reached in front of me to stock an area in the cooler. Not a work came out of his mouth. No excuse for being courteous, No Excuse at all. At check out I was almost ran over by an employee again. Not a word of excuse me or pardon. Remember you will be paying more for items here than in town at local stores. But they do have items that you will not be able to find in a chain. My rating is on the employees, you can have the best place in the world, but people make it what it is.

Newton Farms is the most expensive Piggly Wiggly ever! Seriously, it is a Piggly Wiggly. If you go ten minutes down the road you can go get pretty much the same selection(that was delivered by the same trucks) at a much more reasonable price. The store is clean and the employees are amicable.

Wow, this place was really a pleasant surprise. Given the location and surrounding communities, I was expecting something on the order of a Dean & Deluca(i.e., very small selection and prices suggesting that everything is made of solid gold). Instead, Newton Farms offers a fairly wide selection of products and reasonable prices — not exactly Safeway pricing, but still seems a little less expensive than a Whole Foods.

To be clear I am rating their made to order sandwiches. As a side note the grocery store reminded me of a mix between A Farm Stand and an upscale grocery store chain called AJ’s fine foods. Either way pretty neat stuff. However my mother and I had a sub sandwich custom made from here. It was the Italian sub. This thing was so crisp and fresh and flavorful I may never be able to eat at a Subway again. It was absolutely huge. Packed with ingredients, they certainly do skimp. The staff was very helpful and all in all it was a very pleasant experience. I highly recommend going here, and stopping for some Chocolate Truffles on your way out.

Upscale grocery with prices to match. Good selection for the size of the place. Most of the items are the higher priced varieties. I agree that it reminds one of Dorothy Lane Market in the Dayton /Cincinnati area. If you want more of a Kroger type store, the is a Piggly Wiggly about 10 – 15 minutes up Bohicket road. Same company but different brand. Wine selection is pretty good but pricy. Boar’s Head is the main deli selection, one of my favorites. Good bakery with lots of goodies that will likely melt on the way back to your place. Very limited Gluten Free section for those with Celiac Disease. My daughter got some basics like bread and pasta but most was mixes for baking your own things, not her idea of a vacation. We usually shop there since any food savings going to Piggly Wiggly will likely be eaten up in gas for the trip.

Upscale grocery in the upscale Freshfield’s shopping complex on the upscale island of Kiawah. For those of you from the Dayon/Cincy area this is essentially a Dorothy Lane Market, but perhaps a bit nicer and with a fantastic craft beer selection for a grocery store. Very friendly and helpful staff, and employee owned from what I’ve been told which is also a plus for me(and for them I’m sure). Did not buy produce here, but they have a nice selection as well as a pretty well stocked little wine area as people living here year round likely have the ability to drink pretty nice stuff all the way round — also sell cigars for those lazy evenings overlooking the ocean with your golf buddies. Prices are higher than local grocery stores but it’s über convenient if you’re living or staying on the island(or the adjacent Seabrook), as you’ll drive 15 or so minutes to the Piggly Wiggly on John’s Island, which is only decent. Nice place, nice people, great beer selection which is my fav thing about Newton’s — grab a 6 pack of cans of the local Westbrook IPA or White Thai — both are great!

Kind of ritzy and swanky for a grocery store. But still, I don’t find the prices to be terrible and they have a mixture of that more expensive fancy stuff and the normal things. Good selection of wine, ice cream, and fresh produce. I like how they have free sample chips and salsa! The chips are a great snack, and they usually have a unique salsa on display. We were a little surprised/disappointed with the selection/prices in the seafood section. Being right on the ocean, you would think NF would have tons of options and that you could get seafood for cheaper. Not the case. My local Harris Teeter in Arlington Virginia has a much more extensive selection of seafood for better prices. That is my only complaint. This is generally a pretty good grocery store, and will most likely have what you need. Also, there is a Starbucks in there for people who care about that.

Looks like a Whole Foods Market when you walk in with lots of gourmet food items available for take out as well as a good produce and meat department. Great wine selection too.

I liked this grocery store a lot. The selection of produce, meats and seafood were really good. It had everything a normal store would, but with some local ingredients as well. A little on the pricey side, but seems fair for this area. It is apparently owned by the people who own Piggly Wiggly.
