The only star I gave it was for the drinks we had, which we needed to get through the meal. From the start we entered thinking, «ok this is cute, there’s people eating here so that’s good» but no host and no acknowledgement from servers coming to the host stand. Probably should have ran then. After getting seated we sat for approximately 12 minutes waiting for our server. When she appeared we gave her our entire order in fear she wouldn’t come back. Food was cold. I got up to find our server again and she was MIA so we sat not eating until she showed back up. We told her the dilemma and brought new dishes out… I had shrimp and grits, the shrimps were rocket engine hot while the grits were still tepid. Eh whatever, we just wanted to eat and leave. There were 4 tables around us that weren’t bussed for the entire duration of our meal(an hour and a half). I said to my friend how bad the service is here and how the food isnt even worth the wait. A couple waiting at their table got up and said«thank you, we heard you talking and have been waiting for our server way too long so we are leaving.» They made the right choice! When the check arrived the server vanished and my friend had to go to the bar to get change. When he handed the check book to the server all she said was«thanks.» I recognize the food isn’t her fault but wow, the attitude was horrible. I work at 2 restaurants and am understanding but there’s some serious cogs in this machine that needs to be tweaked if I’m ever to set foot in this restaurant again. Save yourself time and money, go anywhere but here.

I’ve been to Ms. Rose’s for brunch, lunch, a large conference lunch, and dinner. I’ve experienced all their menus and then some. My rating is more along the lines of 3.5 versus 4, but I bumped them up because their service is always great. The food here is good, it’s just not memorably good. I’ve never had a bad meal(except the large conference lunch), but it’s just a «meh» feeling when I leave. We most recently went for their half off burger night. It was a good burger for the price for sure. They also have a good happy hour if you’re out that way during happy hour time. I would never recommend them for a large luncheon with a fixed menu. I had the worst meal then. I opted for salad that came with chicken, cheese, tomatoes, and croutons. I couldn’t sub anything for the tomatoes(not even cucumbers or onions. seriously), and the croutons were the tiny square store-bought kind. The chicken wasn’t good. That’s my only negative experience. Their brunch menu is my favorite menu. Check out their half price burger night, happy hour, ramen night, and brunch. The appetizers were really good. But the ruben wasn’t that great. I did not like their take on the sauerkraut. But it all tasted fresh and different. The fried green tomatoes were yum as was the Jamaican pie appetizers. The atmosphere was cool. The bartender chick was kinda blah but the waiter we got was super nice. Will go back again

Cool looking place. Décor amazing. The service was pleasant but frankly a little too familiar. The waiter was not my buddy. The food was just OK. Had way too crispy fried chicken. Mac and cheese needed salt. Hangar steak was good. Again, more salt on fingerlings.

The Jamaican Meat Pie was alright. The fried chicken was not crunchy, and the batter was falling off the meat(sacriledge!). The ramen was way too salty. The cake was bland. Overall, I think they try too hard to make things«nouveau,» and it just doesn’t work for me. I wasn’t terribly impressed with the flavor combinations or food options, so I won’t be going back.

I went here because of the good reviews. I thought the food was average: Jamaican beef patties: very delicious meet had great flavor. The pastry part was slightly greasy. Dirty rice fritters: very delicious. Good seasoning and flavor. Recommend asking for ranch. Pulled pork steamed buns: light on flavor. They were good but not great. Roses burger: delicious. Good flavor and the fried egg made it. Meatloaf sandwich: the meat was a small portion of the bread. The meat was super dense and lightly seasoned. Basically a very dense burger with to much bread. Very disappointing. Street corn: excellent. Grey flavor and good properly. Highly recommend this. Pulled pork enchiladas: very dry tortillas. The meat was horrible. About as dry and overlooked as you can get pork. Stay away from this dish. Overall, if I bike back it will only be for the beef patties and the corn. I may try another dish and I will update if it is any better. The main dishes were all a disappointment besides the burger which was good.

Really great atmosphere. However, the food is average from what my husband and I had. We tasted the fried green tomatoes, salmon caesar salad, and fried chicken. The salad was the best food item. Overall, I was not blown away by my food.

Nice atmosphere and good service, but the food was average. My wife’s salmon was too greasy, and the mac & cheese side was way too salted(they were very kind and took off the check). Brisket sandwich was good and juicy, thought. Average today –we went a couple of months ago and it was way better.

I love Ms Rose’s. I love the servers, I love the charming and unique atmosphere, and I love half-priced burgers on Mondays. Yes! $ 4.50 for a 6oz single patty burger and extra toppings are usually a dollar(depending) each. The burger comes with fries, which I have subbed for the other sides with no issue. The side offerings rotate seasonally, it seems. I’ve had the crispy brussel sprouts, which I couldn’t stop thinking about for days afterwards – they were caramelized perfectly and served with butter, SOGOOD. On my last visit, brussel sprouts were off the menu so I ordered the roasted cauliflower instead. I was surprised to taste eggplant under the florets, and when I asked our waitress about it she said that the roasted cauliflower was tossed in baba ghannouj and salsa verde. I would never have paired these things on my own, but the cauliflower really benefitted from the smokiness of the baba ghannouj and the tanginess of the salsa verde. I was in veggie heaven. Just an excellent burger, with an excellent side, at an excellent price. That’s five stars in my book.

Half price burger night brought me to this fine establishment. I love the deal. The burgers are normally around 9 $ to 12.50 which is kind of steep but really a good burger. For half price they are really a great deal. And their drink prices at happy hour are great as well. $ 3 well drinks or house wine along with some others. They have a few other items of food at Happy Hour that I noticed and one at our table got the steamed buns with pulled pork. IT looked fabulous and well worth $ 6. The burgers were a little small compared to the bun size and all the stuff on them but cooked to perfection and delicious. I got the one with carmalized onions and blue cheese and they did not skimp on that. Good slices of that stuff. My wife got the one that had a fried egg on top. It looked delicious and I was a little bit jealous because I like a runny fried egg on top of almost anything. The service was good and our table of 4 were in and out in less than an hour. We tried to get a go box for half of my wife’s burger and I think the waitress forgot but were able to get from the bar. Beautiful décor, good service, and a great deal for Happy Hour(M-F I believe) or Burger night(Mondays). Will be back for sure.

This place really delivers every time! Im realizing the only bad thing about Ms. Roses may have been the company I brought along, and that was my fault. There were a few service stumbles at this place during busy brunch with a large group… but the food is always awesome!!! I suggest trying them a bit for happy hour, or during Monday/Tuesday special nights. Burgers –Monday, ramen –Tuesday are features… I’ll get over there to try both soon. I haven’t had a single bad meal or bite of food there!!! Fried chicken=amazing, Mac n cheese= incredible, appetizers = delicioso, Brussels sprouts = best I’ve ever had so far!!! Mozz and mater salad I.e. Caprese salad was so good too. This place deserves a try from every foodie. I hope everyone has meals that are as excellent as mine have been!!!

My mom received a gift card to this restaurant during Teacher Appreciation Week at school and we had never eaten here before. It was worth $ 50 so we decided last weekend to go eat. The atmosphere is excellent. It is pure«laid back, relaxed, open bar» EXCELLENCE. I love the food — I had a cheeseburger made to order with a side of their delicious french fries. The best part is that I’m on a very strict diet and the burgers are made to portion size. They aren’t these over sized greasy things that most places serve. The french fries were great too; seasoned and super yummy. My mom had the shrimp and grits plate and she said it was the best shrimp and grits she had ever had and she gets shrimp and grits almost everywhere. I’m not a fan of shrimp and grits so I never tasted it but I’ll take her word for it. The service was quick and we were in and out in no time. This was a Saturday and there may have been a total of 12 people in the entire restaurant. It’s a little out of the way, off the highway I mean, so that could account for not many people being there. Needless to say, it was one of the best places I’ve eaten at. They have a Bloody Mary bar as well — add however much seasoning you want, celery sticks, etc. If you love Bloody Marys then this is the place to go. Their cocktail menu is very unique and I’m sure a good night out to a bar would make me keep this place in mind. I would definitely go back. Excellent service, excellent food, and an open bar. I’m in!

We came here one night on ramen Tuesday’s to try out their ramen bowl. Walked in and was amazed at how cute and fun this place was. Not expecting it to look as modern and chic from the outside. We were seated quickly and soon ordered a few appetizers along with the ramen and Cuban sandwich. The Jamaican meat pies were great and very flavorful. The pretzel with nice and warm, chewy and oh so wonderful. The Cuban was good, could have more pickles in the sandwich along with more mustard. The pork tasted smoked and I couldn’t really taste any mole. But that was fine and tasty as is. The ramen was interesting. It was a mix of a bunch or random Asian things. First let me just say that I am from Hawaii so I understand a few things about ramen. The broth, for how thick and creamy it looked, tasted like a packet of S&S saimin. The noodles, something that would come in a S&S saimin noodle packet were pretty good for an egg noodle. The soft boiled egg was good. The side ramen additions… phở and bahmi ingredients. Except, the radish and carrot that I thought would go on a vegetable bahmi were actually not pickled and just salty. That threw me off. And yes phở ingredients of bean sprouts, jalapeños, cilantro and lime. All that was missing was the Thai basil to complete my phở toppings. Then there was that red chili paste. That kicked the ramen up to a whole new level of spiciness. Putting half in may be a little much for someone who wants to enjoy their meal. I wish there were more ramen like toppings that traditional ramen shops use but it was a different concept. The ramen could have done with more broth since there was just enough to come to the edge of my noodles. I will definitely be coming back here for other menu items, probably not just for the ramen but maybe another day it might have been better. And the ambiance was great!

Enjoyed a dinner meeting here last night, and this is my second visit to Ms. Rose’s. I love this eclectic little gem of a restaurant. I’ve been trying to eat a bit lighter so I ordered the Smoked brisket sandwich, deconstructed(no bread) and I have to say it was pretty darn tasty with that onion jam. For I side I had the crispy brussel sprouts and they were absolutely delicious — I definitely at ALL my vegetables!

Went here today for a late lunch early dinner. This is my third time here and I really like it. The atmosphere of the restaurant is really fun and very different. The food is good too. I had the Cuban sandwich with the Mac and cheese! I think they are reasonably priced and the portions are big. They have a great variety of beers as well, which makes it easy to order one. I’m sure a lot of people drive past and wonder what’s inside because it’s very retro. I say stop one day and take a look. You won’t be disappointed.

Ms. Roses is a great place for lunch or dinner in West Ashley, and its location is convenient for anyone around Charleston, which makes it a good place if you’re meeting friends who live all over town. A friend and I met here for dinner tonight, as its Charleston Restaurant Week and a Friday night, and we were looking for something budget-friendly and not packed. Ms. Roses fit the bill. Tonight, I had the Crispy Cod Sandwich with a side of Brussels sprouts($ 12). Our server recommended the Brussels Sprouts, and someone dining near our table had them and they looked good, so I gave them a shot. Brussels sprouts are one of those foods that reminds you of being a kid and being forced to eat veggies, but once you have them at Ms. Roses, you’ll change your mind. These were pan-fried and in a really delicious sauce. I ate my entire serving and wanted more of them. My Crispy Cod Sandwich was huge! It reminded me more of a sub sandwich than what I was expecting(a square/round sandwich like a burger). The cod was large and took up most of the very delicious and equally big bun, and it was fried, but not greasy. I didn’t eat it all and had leftovers to bring home. My friend had the Mixed Green Salad with chicken on top and ordered a side of curried carrots($ 4). She really enjoyed her salad and ate it all, and it had a large portion of chicken. It was a huge salad for the money(Only $ 10). The curried carrots were cooked but still had a slight crunch to them. If you eat a lot of salads, veggies, and lean proteins, it’s the meal for you. Both of us noticed that Ms. Roses would be a great option for someone who is gluten free too, as the menu denotes the items that are. You also have a lot of options if you lean toward a paleo diet, but I only saw one vegetarian item on the menu(the vegetable sides are all vegetarian though and are not cooked with meat). On a previous visit, I had the salmon sandwich and the street corn as a side. Both of those were good, but I think I like the cod sandwich and the Brussels sprouts a bit more. Our server, Josh, was very knowledgeable, helpful, and kept our drinks filled throughout dinner. Both of us had a very reasonably priced dinner, the restaurant wasn’t packed, and we did not feel rushed out(we hung around a bit to chat). They had a restaurant week menu, but neither of us dined from it and didn’t feel pressured to. There’s plenty of parking in the back, so if you see a lot of cars out front, don’t like this stop you from dining in. The restaurant’s much bigger than it looks from passing by on Sam Rittenburg, and the road beside it(Gamecock Avenue) is an easy in and out in traffic.

Completely impressed by this place. I came for a lunch meeting today and the entire staff took the time to greet me as I waited for my colleague. I ordered the fried chicken sandwich and baked mac and cheese. The fried chicken sandwich is INCREDIBLE. Very crunchy and slightly spicy batter(Siracha?). The Mac and cheese was alright– thought it was going to baked in a small tin or pan so that the sides were darkened :( Really loved the overall look and feel of the restaurant. Projected artwork. Great craft selection. The wooden curved wall/ceiling room on the side was my favorite. I can’t wait to come back with friends and try brunch :)

Dirty Rice Fritters. I should stop there because I’m already getting hungry. You can’t go wrong with the menu selection, whether it be small or large appetite. Service is great, staff is friendly, and the food is timely and highly edible. The ambiance is very welcoming too, and if you happen to have a wait(make a reservation to avoid this) you can always play corn-hole for a little while out on the front patio /porch.

First time at Ms. Rose’s and we were very optimistic after having read good reviews. We were impressed with the interior décor-funky and modern. We especially liked the screened in eating area. It was perfect on a nice Spring day like today. Now, on to food and service. Our server was excellent, though it took way too long to get our drinks. Our appetizer came before the drinks. I should have seen the warning signs when the couple across from us sent back their biscuit and looked disgusted with their entrees. We wanted to have the smoked salmon appetizer, but they didn’t have it! We finally decided on the Spicy Bacon Jam wings(happy hour special), a biscuit and the Butcher board. The wings had a good flavor, but they were not very meaty and they looked unappetizing.(See picture) The Butcher Board was not bad, but not stellar. The pimento cheese had no flavor, but the rest was decent. I would have liked to have a Manchego or other similar cheese with the meat. We were very pleased with our waiter, but noticed that other customers were not satisfied with their service. I noticed one server wiping crumbs from the table to the ground while the customers were still at the table! I would like to see this place improve-it’s a neat concept, but they need to work on perfecting the menu, having what’s on the menu, and offering great service.

Ms. Rose’s holds a warm place in my heart. It has the look and feel of a modern diner with a slight upscale appeal. The staff continuously shines. Each and every visit is met with a server that is filled with energy and charm. The runners know who has what and the follow up is always top notch. I can’t go any further without say«avocado ranch» Whether it is smoked meatloaf, a burger, fries or even a pretzel appetizer… this dressing goes on everything. Big screen TV. If you like a game or just watching art and scenery from the walls, they have the entertainment covered. It wouldn’t be a good Charleston establishment without a fine selection(though small) of craft beer. Monday’s are half price burgers(Note: The additional toppings are not half price) If you save room, there are milkshakes…
