We attended the Chattanooga-Citadel game this afternoon. It was our first basketball game and we were super impressed with the facilities and staff. The guy at ticket sales was nice and the guys at the concession stand were great too. I love that you can pay with cash or a card here(cash only for concessions at Citadel football games). We sat on the home side in the«chairback» seats($ 10 adults/$ 5 kids/students). I don’t think there is a bad seat in the house though as this is a smaller facility(seats around 6,000). The cadets are all on break still so it wasn’t as loud as I expected it to be(still loud but I could easily hear the people next to and behind me). Great time, can’t wait to go back for another game!

I made my first visit to McAlister Field House for a wrestling meet last week. The facility is in excellent condition even though, according to the Citadel website, it’s been 25 years since it was last renovated. I have to assume the Citadel code of honor has everything to do with that. The seating was very comfortable and seemed spacious enough. However, this being wrestling, there wasn’t exactly a capacity crowd. That said, there was still a good crowd of cadets to cheer on their school and they were enthusiastic, if not particularly knowledgeable of wrestling rules. The Field House is easy enough to find, adjacent to the main parade grounds, once entering the campus gates. We managed to find a parking spot, just steps away from the back door. I’m not sure what the parking situation would be for a basketball game or other more popular event; I expect a short walk would be in order. The concession stand did not appear to be open at this time, but I do believe it is open for larger events. Hopefully I can check it out soon and possibly re-evaluate my rating.
