Live Oak Little School

The owner of this place is very very hypocritical! My sister used to work at this school and all Cathleen did was put her down, wrongly accuse her of things that never happened and was just blatantly disrespectful and rude. I have been there many times to pick up my niece in the past and she never once smiled or anything just was always mad. Just because someone has a child and is younger than most people doesn’t mean they don’t deserve respect. My 19 year old sister was trying to make an honest living to support her child and family but instead was morbidly harassed at work to the point to where she was even asked «do you even have food at home?» Just because she happens to be skinny in front of coworkers and children during story time. I can’t believe someone who wants to raise children as a living treats adults like they’re nothing. I wouldn’t trust her with my child any day.

My daughter only lasted 4 days there. So many problems!
Every day when I picked her up, she was in a soiled diaper. Keep in mind this is only 4 days. The first 2 days I thought, hey maybe it’s a fluke, maybe she happened to JUST soil her diaper as I arrived. By the 3^rd day I realized they just weren’t changing her as they said they would. I was advised when I first enrolled her that diapers were changed as they were soiled, but it seemed to be more schedule than nature changing. My daughter has never been one to get diaper rashes because I change her regularly, yet her short stint in this daycare provided me the rash experience.
I was also advised they adhere to parent’s wishes in regards to diet. I informed the director that I do not give my daughter junk food and I would provide a snack alternative, and was even willing to bring in enough for the class. (ie fresh blueberries instead of cheeze its). I also don’t give my daughter juice. She is only 1 year old. She gets milk and water. Day 1 I’m made aware they have given her cheeze its instead of the blueberries I packed with her. I discuss with the worker the fact that the director and I have already agreed to her healthy snack alternative. Day 2, same thing. I make a more adamant statement and make sure to speak with ALL of her teachers in regards to the fruit I am packing for her IN PLACE OF the cheeze it snacks they provide. Day 3, they feed my daughter ONLY blueberries (for her breakfast, snacks, AND lunch she receives only blueberries). At this point I am livid. Not understanding what kind of idiot thinks it’s acceptable for a 1 year old to have nothing to eat except blueberries. And if they honestly thought that’s all I feed my daughter, DSS should have been called because anyone with half a brain knows that’s not healthy. Even after a strongly worded discussion to this effect, Day 4 they fed her nothing but the blueberries. (I provided strawberries, oranges, carrots, and peas but they only seemed to have the inclination to feed her blueberries).
Instead of giving her water, which is what they were writing on her daily sheet, I found her sippy cups to be full of Kool-​aid, or some other such sugary blue juice.
The FINAL straw was when I came to pick her up Day 4, admittedly earlier than usual, and found her bawling her eyes out on the floor while all 4 of her teachers were on the other side of the room in conversation. There was only 1 other little girl in the room and yet none of the teachers paid a bit of mind to this crying baby. My daughter is very mellow and laid back, very rarely cries. This child was sleeping through the night at 1 month. Yet here she was crying her eyes out trying to crawl to the teacher for some sort of comfort. I scooped her up as soon as I walked in and she immediately stopped crying, which caused the teacher to finally look her way (no, no one noticed I had entered the room. 4 teachers and not 1 noticed). Then the teacher had the audacity to rush over and say she had JUST started crying and she was coming to pick her up. I heard her crying all the way down the hall, so no, she had not JUST started crying.
Come to find out, she had gotten pink eye, a rash, and some virus from another child at the daycare, which apparently the workers knew he had yet allowed him to continue to be around the other children. I only found this part out after I took her home that night and her whole body was covered in a rash, which I brought to the attention of the director to which she replied «oh yes so and so was sick but we didn’t think it would spread so quickly.»
They gave me a refund of the deposit and the amount I paid for that week, presumably so I wouldn’t bring about charges. This place was AWFUL. I have never been so angry!
This is the James Island location. I’ve heard nothing but praise about the Johns Island location and can only assume that the James Island location is riding on their coattails so to speak.
