Awesome sandwiches. We were looking for something local. Service and the food was great

It was 1:45pm on a Saturday, the lunch crowd was gone. I sat down and waited 15 minutes before I left because no one bother to get my order. The server was there and said I can sit so it wasn’t like she didn’t see me. Ever time I have been here the service is sooooooooooooo sloooooow… and it stinks like dishwater. Get more help and the manager needs to manage! I will not be back… The only Groucho I will go to is in Columbia. Close this one down it is giving the restaurant a bad reputation.

One visit to Groucho’s will make you ask, «Subway who?» I’ve never had a bad experience here. When my family came to town a few weeks ago, they gave them great service and waited on all of us promptly and the server was super patient with them. My personal fav here is the«Big Dipper» with 45 sauce. It comes packed full of meat with melted cheese, chips, and a pickle that will starve off the strongest hunger. You’ll never leave here hungry. I strongly suggest going in to eat, however, because often, especially at night, they are at bare minimum staffing and going through the drive thru will take forever.

Best experience I have had at a sandwich shop in a long time! Great customer service. Our server, Kaney, was very helpful and took time to explain menu even though the dining room was full. Made me feel like my business was appreciated… STP was a 10 and the 45 sauce was amazing! I even bought some 45 sauce to take home with me. I will be back!

Most of the sandwiches are variations on each other, but damn the one I had was delicious. I think it was the apollo, which was ham and turkey with swiss cheese and bacon bits. The dip is delicious. Sandwiches come out SUPERHOT. Sides other than plain chips are extra(boo, even if they are just different flavored chips). They don’t skip on the meat or cheese, which is wonderful.

STP dipper was tasty. Facility was gross. Dirty napkins on floor, TV turned way too loud. Slow service and sticky tables. Men’s room was gross. Million better places to get a sandwich.

Everytime I come to a Groucho’s location. I order the infamous Groucho’s BLT. Crisp bacon slices, fresh lettuce, mustard, and mayo. All toasted on white bread. Served with chips and a spare pickle. My favorite sandwich shop in South Carolina!!! Anytime I’m in town I always make sure to stop here. The staff is friendly and the sandwiches are always worth Unilocaling about!!!

I am giving this Groucho’s 3 stars as the service is good, and the sandwich was absolutely delicious. They were very apologetic for how long it took me to get my sandwich(which wasn’t too long) and even included this massive brownie/cookie thing that is yummy! My biggest disappointment with this deli is that they offer very few toppings. When I get pastrami, I like to get onions, peppers, olives. They only had lettuce and tomato. I find this bizarre, and disappointing. The Groucho chips can’t be too famous, as they are pretty bland. I wish I could give mor the stars, but they need to beef up topping offerings, lower prices, and freshen up the place!

Groucho’s is a small chain of delis with two locations in Charleston. I ate here with a friend who went to college here and loved the downtown location while in college. I’ve only been to the Groucho’s in Florence, SC, when I lived there, and he’d only been to the downtown Charleston location. For food, I had the Veggie Italian sub and he had the Apollo dipper. If you’re a vegetarian, there are only a few options, although they do have an extensive low fat menu. The sandwiches come with chips and a pickle, and you can get baked chips for a small upcharge(I did). Both of us also had sides of the Formula 45 sauce which is Grocho’s version of thousand island dressing(tip: it’s good on the potato chips!). The sandwiches are not bad, but my veggie sub was not the best sub I have had, and for $ 7, I thought it was a bit pricey for the quality. West Ashley and Charleston in general have a lot of delis and sandwich shops that I feel like provide a better value. The service of the restaurant is a bit confusing. There’s a counter where you can order if you’re taking out, and where you pay, but other than that, there are servers who come out to take your orders if you’re eating in, get your drinks, bring your check, etc. They walk around and check on you when you’re eating, but if you need something, you might have to walk up to the counter to ask because they are busy at the counter with to-go orders or taking payments/walk ups. The servers were really nice though, and overall I had a nice experience. I’d probably come back with a friend but I couldn’t see myself being a regular here or visiting too often.

Tonight’s meal was delicious. My sister and I recommend the All Turkey STP with the 45 Sauce. Our mom got the Club Sandwich. The Sweet BBQ Chips were great too. The server was very attentive as well.

Food was awesome! The portions were huge. I could barely eat it all! I have eaten at other Grouchos but this one is my favorite by a long shot.

The food wasn’t as good as people say. I ordered the Apollo and it’s just meat and cheese. I paid $ 8.45 for a half hoagie with meat and cheese. I could have bought it at a subway for way cheaper and taste just the same. It’s just not worth the money. The service was nice and very polite. I probably won’t be back…

I love grouchos sandwiches and if you want a more thorough explanation, all the details are in my review for the King St location. I took this spot down a star. Something about it just feels like a lower quality groucho-sperience. It’s a little drab and the staff isn’t as friendly. It also doesn’t make sense that you can’t use your loyalty card between locations. This is obviously a problem at the franchise level and should be taken care of with the number of locations there now are. The food is pretty much the same though.

For the food you get, its much cheaper and better to make it yourself. Having gone here 3+ times, I am still not impressed with the food. I now make it a point to head over to East Bay Deli where the portions and taste are better.

Groucho’s and old time favorite from my college days. My favorite sandwich is the STP Dipper. Turkey and roast beef on a soft sub roll topped with bacon and melted cheese. Eat it. While it’s hot and melty. You have a choice of dipping sauces, 45 sauce or Danish Blue. 45 is a thousand island blend that Groucho’s is famous for. I prefer the Danish Blue because I love blue cheese! Customer service is usually pretty good. They’re friendly and helpful. The speaker at the drive thru is a little old and hard to hear so that can be frustrating at times. My biggest complaint with Groucho’s is the value. For around $ 8 you get about an 8 inch sub and chips. Seems a little lacking for me. For this same price you can get a larger sub loaded with toppings from any sub place ½ mile down the road to the left or the right.

Customer service was good but its a little too pricey for the small portion. Their special sauce is amazing though you got to order some.

First, I love Grouchos and have been eating at them since I was a little child. This one on Sam Rittenburg is fairly nice and the staff is always very friendly. My big complaint is that various times I have pulled up to the restaurant a little before 8pm and the lights be on. I literally see staff in there working, however by the time I get out of my car and start walking towards the door the lights have been turned off, door is locked, and there are no employees insight This is frustrating, especially having had this happen more than once. On the front door of the restaurant the hours are displayed and if you are not going to keep your hours consistent then do your customers a favor and change the sign. Secondly, I do believe that the servings have definitely gotten smaller. The sandwiches seem less hearty then I’ve been use to in the past as well as much smaller. I do not mind paying over 7 dollars for a sandwich especially at Grouchos, however I expect to receive a sandwich that is worth it’s price.

took it to go — so can’t talk about location ordered a turkey + ham club and groucho’s brand chips. the food was not bad — just average. average bread, average veggies(on slice of lettuce and one slice of tomato). Not stale, not ultra fresh. Not tasteless not delicious. Chips were ok. a fast clean meal — but nothing to get excited about
