Dick’s Sporting Goods

Like every big-​box sporting good store, Dick’s Sporting Goods employees have to know how to sell you anything, from bras to barbells, and from ammunition to amino acid supplements.
Dick’s Sporting Goods is your typical big-​box sporting goods store. They carry a little of everything, but just that– a little of everything, and not a huge selection or specialization. If you need something highly specialized (like, a tri bike, for example) or if you need advice, you might want to seek other options.
That said, I’ve never had a bad experience here. I usually know what I’m looking for when I go in, but the staff always asks if I need help. I’ve also had to make a return or two and have had no problems with that. You can buy items like shoes on their website, sometimes at a deeper discount or better selection than what’s in store, then return or exchange if they don’t fit.
The prices are a little expensive unless there’s a sale or a discount rack, but you can find coupons occasionally. It’s always worth a trip in to see what’s new, as they get a lot of new products and items in.

Dick’s Sporting Goods has everything and it has everything in variety. A super store devoted to sporting goods, where you can get a lot of things at about the same price as you’ll find online. I went first thing in the morning and the sales staff was eager to help me with what I needed. I was able to purchase weight lifting gloves and a dip belt from a brand that I trust, with the gloves being bought in a coloring i’ve never seen. I’ll be back the next time I need to pick something up for the gym.

I went to shop for a bb gun for my boy. After about 20 minutes of seeing no one, I finally found a young man to ask a question and he said, «Just to let you know we close at 7, so you might want to take your purchases up front.» I said, «Oh, sorry, I wasn’t even thinking it was Sunday». I looked at my watch and it was 7:05. I needed co2 for the gun so I could leave, but couldn’t find them when a male semi long haired manager came up. I said, «Excuse me where are the co2?» He says, «We keep them behind the counter, but you’ve been told SEVERAL times we’re closed. WE open again tomorrow.» He gave them to me anyways and while checking out he came up so I said,“Just to let you know I was only told that once.” He says, «That’s fine, but I hope you’d be considerate of us because we’ve had a long week.» I have worked in the restaurant industry for over 25yrs and stayed hours after we closed, but I guess 15 minutes past closing is too much for Dicks, and yes my receipt says 7:15. This manager is obviously more concerned with getting out as quick as possible than making your company money. So, I will be returning the merchandise tomorrow to getting my $ 100.85 and I won’t be back.

I love coming into Dick’s. The selection is phenomenol. The sales staff is knowledgeable about their products, and even though their prices are not the cheapest: You get what you pay for.
I came into Dick’s today to buy a bicycle for my daughter. There was only one sale person working in the bike department while we were there, so we had to wait a few moments to be helped. Once the sales guy was freed up to help us, he was super awesome!
My daughter and I looked at 2 models of bicycle, a Nishiki and a DPX. He explained all the features, and differences and similaries of each brand of bike. We made our decision, and the nice sales guy did a quick tune up and a few adjustments so the bike would be a perfect fit for my kid. He even loaded it into my SUV for me when we left.
So even though they are a tad more expensive than I like, I come back to here over and over because (from kayaks to lacross gear), they always have what I need and the sales force to answer all my questions.

Wonderful service! Prices are a bit high but I always seem to have a coupon for this place. This place his huge and offers many items for all types of sports or sporting events.

I walked around for 30 minutes without anyone acknowledging me and their selection is a bit limited. The selection and prices made it look like a store that should be out on Kiawah and not in West Ashley.

Dick’s has just about anything you might need if you’re going to be into any sort of sport. This place is huge. I’m sure you probably know, because they’ve been expanding for years.
Unfortunately, they also didn’t have the hat I needed, though they did have a nice selection of hats. What is it with people and hats — I get it that baseball caps are popular and all, but I just want a hat that’s not a baseball cap?
Anyway, the staff was again very friendly, though I’m beginning to think that it’s more of a Charleston thing than any one store, since most people in Charlotte would probably not be nearly as friendly if I was running all over town looking for a decent hat. Still, if you want to participate in a sport, Dick’s probably has you covered. Unless you have a big head like me.
