I was so excited to find a bank right near my home that seemed friendly and eager to help customers. This is not the case with Community First Bank(now CresCom since their merger). I was charge $ 68 in «handling fees» in one day when I overdrafted from the checking and had to use money from my savings. I had never done this before and always sign up for overdraft protection. I went to the bank to ask them to waive the fee for me but the woman behind the counter was less than helpful and pretty rude. I gave her my name and number so the manager could call me back. 5 days later I have left 7 messages on the managers answering machine and have not been able to get a hold of her. I understand banks are in the business of making money but to take $ 68 from someone(a student no less) is outrages. Even the big banks dont do that. I will be switching banks and not recommending this bank to anyone in the future. UPDATE: 2 days after posting this review: I received a call from Bruce, the manager of the Downtown Charleston branch of CresCom. He was more than accommodating and was able to refund my handling fee and suggest paperwork for me to fill out so that I dont incur that fee again. Still havent heard from Holly Edwards, the manager of the Folly Rd. CresCom though.
