If you’re visiting downtown Charleston or don’t have a car, it can be pretty disappointing to learn that you might not be able to see one of the best things South Carolina has to offer — the beaches. After hours of researching, I found that taking a taxi would cost me an arm and a leg and that the CARTA system didn’t drop off anywhere close to the beach. It was starting to look dim. Suddenly, I found a link for the Charleston Beach Bus which offered daily round-trip service to Folly Beach. And lucky me – they had a 10am pick-up point right outside my hotel! So I set my alarm, got up the next morning and was happy to find a vintage, crème-colored bus waiting at the bus depot. I got on, paid roughly $ 10, received a sweet tank top and we were on our way to Folly Beach. It was really fun to see the reactions of folks on the street when they noticed this awesome bus rolling by. After about twenty minutes, the bus had arrived, dropping us off right near the entrance of the beach. I strongly recommend taking this bus as a way of getting to the beach. It’s a wonderful way to go out and explore the rest of the area without spending a crazy amount of money on getting there. The service was friendly, the ride was easy and it was all easy as pie.

The Charleston Beach Bus was the perfect cheap ride to the beach. We got picked up in a mint green old school bus at the Charleston visitors center, and got dropped off right at Folly Beach. They played oldies and Elvis our whole time there, were punctual, had tons of seats, and were super friendly. Plus it was only $ 10!
