A Charleston Christmas

This place has nice stuff and the woman who works there is very nice. I was disappointed to find five minutes later the same exact ornament in the market one block away for $ 5 less. I went to take back the one I got here in favor of the same one for less at the market and they would not return or even match the other price. Just shop around elsewhere before you come here because chances are they have the same thing somewhere else for cheaper.

We were really surprised at not only how expensive this place is, but what little inventory they had available. We visited two days before Christmas, and I would have thought they would have had more to offer in the way of original ornaments. Maybe it was just poor timing and they were sold out since it was so close to Christmas, but for a store that is open year-​round, I expected to be blown away.
They did have some «name» brand ornaments, created by artists, but the majority were made in China and identical to the ornaments we found at the «gift shops» on Meeting Street.
No need to go out of your way to stop here.

Holy expensive! This store must have crazy high overhead to price the ornaments the way they do. Simple ornaments were around $ 20, with a cute, but not super fancy ornament priced at $ 70. Nothing in the store struck me as incredibly unique, or worth the prices. Owner should expand selection to include lower priced ornaments as well, or consider decreasing prices.

Went here hoping to land ourselves a Charleston ornament as we were visiting just before the holidays. Oddly, they didn’t have any. Instead, they had dozens and dozens of Chinese-​quality ornaments, some with Charleston written (yes, by hand) on them. Very disappointed. We ended up finding some great local ornaments inside the market.
I had a very different experience than Ashley, though. The staff was incredibly friendly.

My husband and I visited here on 11÷24÷12 on our way to dinner. We like to get an ornament of the place we visit for our Christmas tree. This was the only shop I could find. Maybe I wasn’t looking hard enough? The place was empty except for the lady at the register. She looked like if she heard one more Christmas song she might pull out her hair. Definitely had a crazy eyes kind of look. No greeting whatsoever. We walked all around the store, looking at tons of ornaments, but only saw about 4 different Charleston themed ornaments. I asked and the lady told me they were all she had. I know ornament collecting is not a new thing, so an ornament shop should have a lot of different options for this kind of collecting. We did find one we liked, but I would have liked to see more.

Well, the real Christmas was 2 months ago, your tree is long gone or stored for another year, so time for a Christmas fix. This is the spot. It could have been July and blazing hot, but it’s Christmas inside.
The usual assortment of artists and general ornaments and decorations. I selected a Charleston ornament ~ I know, the typical tourist. So I will store it until December and then smile and remember the beautiful February day I purchased it when I take it out and hang it on my tree.
