My daughters and I visited here recently. The best part of the experience is the patio seating. The selection for dinner wasn’t overwhelming — in fact, a bit sparse on variety. There were several burger options but not much in the way of non-burger sammies. However, the servers were very friendly, fairly prompt and the orders were correct so, that’s head and shoulders over some places I’ve been recently. This would probably be 3-stars on a normal week but, Town Hall Grill benefits in comparison to some of the other dining establishments I’ve visited recently. The ribs were good. The burgers were good — not great, but good. The price is more than reasonable. One note, the only salads available to order were the larger portion(meal/dinner sized). They didn’t have any side or smaller portion salads. It would be nice to have the option to add a smaller salad as a side. Another small pick is that only julienne cut fries were available. Again, not a huge ding, just something we noticed. Overall, it’s a nice relaxing spot, but the food won’t knock your socks off. If you’re going for a quiet-ish(it gets a bit busy on weekend evenings) meal with your family or friends, this isn’t a bad spot to do that. We’ll definitely hit Town Hall Grill again in the future if we’re in the area — maybe right after or before a movie. Parking can be problematic if there’s a big movie opening or if there’s some other event going on in Southern Village.

Everything about this place is mediocre. Except the cold blue lighting, which has earned the distinction of being egregiously bad.

This place is good! I got the meatloaf which was a brave choice in my opinion, considering i’m not a fan of meatloaf, the singer nor the food. Well let me tell you this, I still don’t like the singer. The entrée was DELICIOUS however. It has a crunchy exterior which is great, because the mushiness is what gets to me. My margarita was pretty good and they have a decent beer selection. We will definitely be back!!! My only complaint was that it wasn’t busy, but the waiter wasn’t really on top of his game. We had to wait a while for our check and kept seeing him on his phone. He was friendly though and the food was great!

THG is a block and a half from my house so it’s perfect when I don’t feel like cooking or driving. The outdoor seating is nice, with a good view of the village green. The problem is there’s not much there to love other than location. It’s supposed to be a sports bar featuring beer on tap, but they just feature the same crappy beers as every other sports bar, and 9⁄10 are IPAs. The mixed drinks are the same vein, don’t order anything that requires any sort of skill or you’ll be disappointed. Given there are a dozen places to go in Chapel Hill with fantastic beer selections there’s no reason to drink here unless you’re planning on walking home. The food menu is standard, with the same hamburgers and wings as everyplace else, like the owners bought a «sports bar» kit and it came with a standard menu. That being said the burger isn’t bad, and the wings are ok. It’s like Applebee’s but not as hip or exciting. If you’re used to chain sports bars then this is pretty much what you’re used to. If, on the other hand, you’re used to the great beer selections, talented mixologists, and interesting menus that can be found on Franklin Street or downtown Durham, then you’ll want to avoid it.

The place still is down the tubes … most of my friends and I will not even patronize the place anymore … it’s almost totally empty most afternoons … still poor service, costly, food … I had chicken wings the last time I ordered food there and they tasted like they’d been in the frig for 4 – 5 days, absolutely terrible. Of course I sent them back and haven’t eaten there since.

My manager and I stopped by for lunch after an appointment in the area. I was very pleased with the service our waiter gave us. He kept our drinks full and answered our questions. The food was good too. Glad we picked this place for lunch. Lots of selections and also lunch special. If you are in the area I would recommend this place. Good food and great service.

Perfect evening out! My husband and I went to another restaurant with our 4yo daughter and could not get the wait staff to acknowledge us and get seated. We found our way to Southern Village and found Town Hall Grill. So thankful we did. We got seated outside right away. The hostess, waitress and manager said hello and asked how we were doing as we made our way to our table. Our food was excellent and arrived quickly. Our waitress was WONDERFUL. She was very kind and engaging with our toddler and us. Such a 180 from Allen and Sons BBQ where we started our night. We walked over to the lawn and continued to enjoy live music after our dinner. Thank you Town Hall Grill for being amazing.

I actually give them 4.5 stars… yum! First time trying them — ordered from takeout central — salmon and mixed greens salad — prepared just how I like it — fresh, simple and flavorful! Will definitely order from here again:)

Solid neighborhood spot. Not sure why other folks have not liked it. Service has always been great for us, and the food is consistently good. Nice to not have to deal with Franklin street parking! I recommend the fish tacos and the burgers. And the strong kids menu. They also have 20 taps and lots of wine by the glass. This is also a great place to sit outside and eat if there is a concert going on in southern village. Two thumbs up!

After waiting for an hour for the main courses to appear at the table I finally requested to have everything packed to go, instead. Five minutes later the manager delivers the bag with all the take out orders, hands it over and leaves without saying a word. I guess it’s normal for this establishment to keep people on hold like that. Surprising since the food was worth the wait for a BigMac(«Would you like some meat with that salt in your hamburger?»). And check out the«fresh cup of fruit» they offer for kids(see picture): it’s April in NC and they give ½ a tangerine and ½ dozen maraschino cherries straight out of the jar from the cocktail bar. If this is the quality of food they think their younger patrons deserve, imagine what they serve to their adult clientele. Classy.

So convenient to where I live I wish it was at least medicore– I guess if your intention is a cold draft or bottle that is safe– the food I feel is an after thought. Its like a poster child for institutionalized type food– sounds like decent food but its tastes like reheated food from a pouch. Also feels absentee managed, I tried it once again the other day– stood at the hostess station for 5 – 7 minutes until someone finally made eye contact– Then made me wait another 5 – 7 minutes until they cleaned a booth that was sitting with dirty dishes from the time I arrived. The funny thing was the place was probably 15% full. Wish it could at least be a 6 or 7 rather than a 2.

I would love to like this restaurant. It’s convenient to my location. It offer a menu that has a nice variety of dishes that would satisfy multiple tastes. However, every time I go which is been about 25 times now I have been disappointed. The owners have changed frequently and I keep thinking the next time I go I will like it. And I do not. The service is moderate at best. The food is consistently mediocre. Often the dishes are not prepared the same way the every time. Despite the menu description of items, the dishes are always presented very lackluster. They’re often bland. Things have a tendency to be either overcooked or undercooked. The one thing on the menu I can attest to you as being good would be the wings. It would be so wonderful to be able to like this restaurant. But I cannot say that I will go back again. Even despite its convenience to my location.

Visiting from out of town and wanted to grab lunch and watch football. Took while to order and longer to get food. When it did arrive most of it was cold and the burger was under cooked. Took long time to find wait staff to address issue. Food OK but wonder why they are under staffed on opening day of NFL

On a second visit to Town Hall Grill I experienced a white female patron exclaim«he wants to be a model. What a loser» during my exit home from the dining room. It’s a given this establishment draws an extremely bizarre female clientele much to other diners’ disappointment. Staff on the other hand is knowledgable and able to be kindly sociable throughout service.

We take the family here every so often. They have specials nearly every day for food and drinks and a kids special as well. The beer selection is outstanding and pre game before a UNC game is quite good as you can then catch a park n ride bus within walking distance. On week days they close pretty early so don’t expect a beer after the game. Back to the restaurant… service is usually great. Have a lot of t.v.‘s scattered around and a covered outdoor patio. The food is decent but pricey. My family is split on the place. It is local in Southern Village so its convenient. It is just really pricey in my mind for the food. We seem to be going there less and less…

Well I wanted to give this place another chance as I’m always in Southern Village. I ordered the«special». It was a shrimp over pasta dish. Believe it or not it was $ 18! My meal arrived and it was a pathetically small bowl of pasta with 4 very small and over cooked shrimp. They were rubbery and inedible. I’m actually embarrassed for them charging this much for so little. I would advise you to steer clear of this place!

I love THG. I travel a lot and most sports bars fall into«too smoky, too crowded». THG is fun with a bunch of guys watching a game or with the family for dinner. Very family friendly. The Tinga Chicken Tacos are fantastic as is the chopped salad. They always have several good IPAs on draft, which is a bonus in my book. The menu does not change much, however, they have daily specials that are really good. Haven’t done brunch in awhile, but the Eggs Benedict were good. Additionally, there is always parking available.

Okay place in Southern Village. Nothing really exciting here. For one, the TV placement leaves a lot to be desired. Most of the TVs are at the bar, and the non-bar TVs aren’t necessarily in the best places to see games really well(if you end up at one of the booths in a chair, for one, you’re probably not going to be able to see a game). If you look at analogous places(e.g. Fitzgeralds, for one), there are more TVs in more easy-to-see places in addition to the bar TVs. As for the wares, I ordered a Sam Adams, the soup of the day, and some Zucchini fries. The beer list is a little lacking, though they do seem to have the standards and some microbrews. The soup was pretty good. The zucchini fries were soggy and moist, and pretty hard to actually eat as you went through them. In general, they were not very good. So overall, if you’re in Southern Village and want a sports bar experience, this is the place to go. It’s okay, it’s not really great.

Friendly, responsive service help to overcome the occasionally mediocre food. On my most recent visit here(the first in a few years) I had the BBQ pork sandwich. It was dry and without much smoky flavor, which leads me to believe it was cooked in an oven. Come on, man. This is North Carolina. Don’t offer a pulled pork sandwich unless you’re going to do it right! On the plus side, they do have a decent draft beer selection and good number of flat panel screens for watching a game.

Food was okay. Tator tots were the best part of the meal. Everything else was«just okay». I had the oyster po boy. Just Okay. My friend had the steak. Just Okay.(Although the creamy, buttery mashed potatoes were more than«just okay” — they were delicious.) As for the service, the service was excellent. I went with my friend and her sweet two– year old, and everyone who worked there greeted her by name: «Hi Sophia!» They were very kind to her and visited our table throughout the entire meal. And she flirted with them. Worked her charm. Batted her big beautiful eyelashes. It was very sweet. Would I go back here? Probably. My best friend lives in Southern Village and we can walk there from her place. Is it the best of the best food? Probably not. Does the service make up for it? Yes. Yes, it does.
