My husband and I checked in August 18th. The check in went smooth enough, however it seems that all the employees there have a love affair with their IPhones and they seem distracted. We get to our room only to find dead bugs(crickets) near the window. We were both tired and decided to wait and let the maids clean it up the next day. The following evening we returned to our room only to find the dead bug mess still near the a/c. Additionally they left us with only one towel and one washcloth between the two of us. I told the girl at the front desk about the bug problem, she offered to vacuum it for us, however at that point my husband was getting ready for bed so I told her to just give me the vacuum and let me clean it up. The vacuum canister was empty when I started and full when I finished. Gross! This was more than just one day of missed vacuuming. I am not blaming her for this but maybe the staff needs additional training? Also whats up with all the mattresses leaning against the windows upstairs? Kinda looks junky. As we travel to Chanute often I will be checking out the Knights Inn up the street.

This is the best hotel in the city. It is modernized with big spacious rooms and hdtv’s. They just renovated the area(repainted the walls) so it looks clean and new. The beds are comfortable and the staff is very friendly. The rooms are cleaned on time with new, fresh, clean towels.

There are only three hotels in town and all of them are scary. However, the service I received at this Super 8 made it the worst. After paying for a double room for two nights, I lugged my heavy bags upstairs because there is no elevator(this building was built in the last 10 years) and opened my assigned room only to find the TV on and someone’s personal items all over the sink. Lugged my bags back down to the front desk to get a new room key. The clerk was apologetic and gave me a second room assignment, also on the second floor. This room was vacant, but a single. Already frustrated and out of breath, I called the desk clerk to tell her that, once more, I was in a wrong room but would take it up with the manager in the morning. I settled in to watch TV and work on my laptop but realized that I hadn’t been given the internet code. *sigh* After fixing the TV(horrible reception) and having to use my own hotspot to get anything done, I was done with this place. I spoke with the daytime desk clerk in the morning when I checked out a day early and was assured that my second night would be taken off my bill immediately. When I inquired about a discount for my frustrating experience the night before, adding that according to the room diagram on the wall, BOTH rooms I was assigned to were singles, I was told that it was up to the manager. My bank statement today shows no discount of any kind. PROS: Clean rooms, not horrible mattress CONS: Unreliable service, no elevator, made no effort to correct problem. RECOMMENDATION: Stay at one of the other hotels in town. They are just as no-frills, but don’t hide behind a name brand and nice lobby. I have paid the same price for a room in Kansas City and Wichita and had WONDERFUL experiences with the staff and the accommodations. Goes to show what a little competition will do for service.
