This has to be one of the most beautiful courses anywhere — open country setting, partly wooded, wrapped around a lake. Old country muni with limited amenities but otherwise in generally good + condition. Wide-enough fairways lead to mostly flat sand-mound greens that are well grassed, and maybe 80% true. If you want the wine-list testosterone of a snobby country club, don’t come here(PLEASE don’t come here !), but if you want simple, quiet, affordable golf in a stunning rustic location, this is a place you must see. Nothing too easy, nothing too difficult, great for all ages and abilities — but best experienced, by far, when walking. Play at least once. No matter what you score, you’ll leave with your heart and your eyes smiling. Highly recommended. (**note — course is by Chandler Lake — north of the turnpike, approx 15 minutes from town. Use Mapquest if heading there for the first time)
