I love this store but why must I stand in line for 30 minutes??? One checker, really? It’s not their fault. Come on store manager, make us feel welcome by keeping two registers open at peak times! I go there after work at 5:15pm and there was one checker with three full baskets ahead of me. Not a good strategy to keep staff and your customers. Please fix this

A value brand store similar to Aldis. It gives value because it has no bells or whistles. It was extremely clean and offers Kroger brand products at prices lower than many competitors. It’s a great store for a person on a budget.

Don’t do much shopping here other than buying milk which usually runs from $ 1.59-under $ 2/gallon. I also like getting eggs here under $ 1 and sugar is priced good as well. Bring a quarter for the cart and your own bags. I’ve never been in there when they have had more than one clerk checking people out so be prepared to wait in line on busy days(weekends).

Store review: I am a fan of Ruler Foods! Since moving to Champaign, I have been searching for a place for cheap dairy and eggs. It is crazy how much a gallon of milk can cost at other stores 3 – 4 dollars compared to Northwest Suburbs where you can get milk regularly at 1.99−2.50. This place initially looked sketchy, but after going inside I realize that it is simply a upscale aldi with Kroger brand. Major plus is the acceptance of credit cards for payment. If you are okay with generic brand of Kroger than this place will net you a lot of savings. Yes the produce section is very limited and you maybe better off going to aldi, but they had eggs for .79 cents, milk 1.59 and 1% and skim that was close to expiration(about 1 week away) for only 0.99 cents. I have never seen milk that cheap. Check out is fast. No grocery bags of course so bring your own. Overall a great place for basic grocery needs that will save you money. Pros: cheapest dairy, egg, sugar, bread in the Champaign area Cons: limited choices, they do have name brand items as well Hidden deals: 1. Bring a quarter to check out a shopping cart, you get it back after you return your cart 2. Bring your own grocery bags 3. Cheap eggs, milk, bread

I love Kroger brands and was saddened when I moved to the area and learned they’d pulled out of the Champaign Urbana market years ago. So I’m happy at least to have a easy-to-use and get to store locally for Kroger store brands. Prices are great, and it’s easy to get through check-out, just like Aldi’s. I go to Meijer’s or Schnucks for premium stuff, but Ruler sure helps the pocketbook each week.

Meh, not impressed. It’s like an Aldis but without the surprising European chocolates and other food products. True, it’s very cheap. But the selection is pretty limited, especially the produce. Very, very basic. Good if you don’t have to follow a gluten-free diet and need just the essentials. Also, the atmosphere kind of gave me the willies. Not the store in itself but some of the customers. For what it is, I’m sure it works well for some people. I just felt that it didn’t suit my needs well.
