In Summer 2012, I was passing by Church St and saw an ad for renting an apartment on the lawn of this property. I called the owner and set an appointment to see the apartment. The apartment was pretty nice, the person who showed the apartment looked nice and also looked very well informed. Being a sensitive person to noise, I asked the owner about the noise in the apartment. He claimed to be the original constructor of the building and he said that this building is sound proof and we have had musicians here and nobody have had complaints and this and that. Also, I asked him about subleasing the apartment and he told me that as far as I find the tenant, it is not a big deal. The rent was relatively low, given the fact that the apartment was rented heated. So far so good. However, as we moved to the apartment, we started to see the down side: during the first rain, we found out that the skylight in the corridor is leaking like crazy and after sending an email, the lady responded back that it is not a big deal(and in fact they never fixed that)! Meanwhile, we started to feel that the apartment is not sound proof and it is indeed anti sound proof to the extend that I could tell that what the three of my neighbors are watching on their TVs! Towards the end of September the weather started become cold and even it got to 40s. At that time I found out that the heater does not work. I sent MANY emails to the owners and they did not fix it until three weeks later(to save some money on heating!)!! Anyways, we tried to get along with the situation and time passed until December 2013 when I was offered a position in Atlanta and was looking to sublease my apartment. I quickly found a person willing to sublease my apartment and subleased it to him. After few weeks of moving out, in response to my email about the deposit(of 400 $), the landlady sent me an email with a list of expenses among them was«$ 200 of your damage deposit by breaking the lease,» i.e. subleasing my apartment, and Shampooing the carpet $ 125(while it was super clean) Cleaning the oven — $ 60 Kitchen cabinets, inside and out — $ 50 Moving out Stove and Refrigerator to mop under — $ 40!!! Overall, my experience with this property owner was THE absolute most terrible experience of mine with renting apartments. I would definitely suggest you not to move-in to those apartments. (Also, forgot to mention, you think that the property has on site laundry but you should use and pay for the dryer at least three times to do the job for you and I wish that was the only cost of it. You should basically devote a half of a day to do your laundry!)
