Shear Salon

I have never had such a terrible experience at a salon before. The first time I came here I was satisfied with the color, the price, but the cut was terrible. She trimmed just one layer and didn’t do anything else as far as adding dimension. I was left with very uneven hair and had to cut it myself several times to make it look even. I did notice the unevenness when I got in my car so I went back and she «fixed it» but if my part was not exactly where it was the day I got the cut I had the uneveness again. So when I booked my next appointment I requested to not have the same stylist as last. When I got there everything was fine and while I was getting my hair colored the receptionist came up to me and said «did you request not to have so and so stylist or did we just not schedule you with her?» I thought that was an uncomfortable question to ask someone when the previous stylist was right next to me. I said I requested not to have her. I told my colorist that that made me feel uncomfortable and five minutes later the previous style comes up to me in an exaggerated passive aggressive matter and says «HEY!!! I haven’t seen you in forever!!!» Keep in mind I had only seen her once. I don’t know what was meant by this approach but regardless it made me, the customer, feel uncomfortable. When I get to the counter I am told that my total is $ 185, what??? My total the last Time was $ 115 and I got the exact same thing done. I am told that my cut was more expensive than last time. Which is absolutely ridiculous because I was never informed of this beforehand and honestly I shouldn’t have to pay extra to get a cut that’s actually done right. I’m also told that I got a gloss, Which again I was not informed that I was getting. I tell the receptionist this and her response is «well you wouldn’t have liked your hair without the gloss» no apology no nothing. And then I’m told that my partial highlights were $ 85 and that last time I got an «all over» which was complete bologna to me because I literally got the exact same thing done as far as color. When I tell them about the uncomfortable situation that happened during my visit the girls behind the receptionist desk don’t apologize for me feeling uncomfortable but instead they tell me that I misinterpreted the situation. I know that I didn’t and even if I did it doesn’t matter I am the customer and you should never make your customer feel the way they made me feel that day. This place is so catty and unprofessional and they have no respect for their customers I will NEVER go back. I have never been treated so poorly anywhere before.
I will say that my color and cut were done very well that day, though.

I was nervous about cutting and coloring my hair. I wanted to cut off 9 inches and dye my hair and add highlights. After calling multiple places and speaking to a lot of people, I decided on Shear Salon. The salon is a bit hidden, but that is kind of nice. The place is huge and airy with very tall ceiling. It looks like a warehouse which is cool. They have wine and beverages as well as cookies when you walk in. The two girls behind the desk were very kind. The person doing my hair was Chiquita (probably spelled wrong). She was very outgoing and not snobby at all. She listened to what I wanted and walked me through all of the steps she was taking. It took over 3 hours to complete my hair and she was great through all of it. I got a ton of compliments on my hair.
So, if I had to change 1 thing or suggest 1 thing it would be that they get reclining chairs for the shampoo area. The sinks are great because they move and rest on your shoulders. However, I have metal in my spine and my body just does not relax when sitting in the odd position.
I highly recommend this salon and recommend Chiquita too!

I enjoyed this salon as a whole. Everyone is really friendly and professional and the setup of the space is open and clean. Unfortunately, I am giving them a 2 star review due to being overcharged and not verbally told my highlights were going to be a ‘double process’. Management attempted to offer me a free service for my next appointment, but why would I want to come back to a salon where I basically got scammed? I have 3 friends who are master/​senior stylists and all agreed that by the stylist telling me to book full head foils, then not mentioning a double process what-​so-​ever, was not professional at all. Had I known prior I was going to be charged double, I would have waited another 2 weeks. Really a shame after I spent an upwards of $ 500. I hope the $ 120 is worth losing business over. Back to midtown I go…

I recently had my first visit to Shear Salon & loved it! I’d taken down a braided hairstyle so my hair needed some serious attention & Chiquita tackled it with ease. I received a wash, condition, & good trim because my ends were struggling lol. I like how Chiquita asked me if it was ok to cut a certain amount off prior to doing it. I’ve always been one to say «chop what you need to chop» so I don’t mind a good trim when needed but a lot of stylists don’t care to ask & the fact that she did was great! She’s super sweet, great personality, & awesome customer service skills… & I can’t leave out the fact that my hair was whipping in the wind when she finished! I’ll definitely be seeing her again & I’d recommend her to anyone!

My friend recommended this place to me so I went with her last Friday. I got my color done by Cynthia and my cut by Miranda. I was happy with both. I felt like Miranda did the best blowout I’ve ever had.

I got my hair colored and cut by Maranda. I came in and she got right to it with minimum waiting time! Plus she did my spray tan which is better than the tanning salon I go to. Everything was a super good price. This is my fav salon I’ve been to in Atlanta since I moved here 4 years ago. I’m deff switching Maranda at shear salon to my permanent hair and tan place.

I love this place! I’ve been coming to Shear Salon since I moved to Atlanta in January 2011 and never had a bad experience. Everyone is super nice, the salon is cute and trendy and they always have some kind of yummy treats on the table. Timothy Keys is my go to guy! He’s been my stylist for some time now and I love how pretty he makes me!

Had an awesome experience at SHEAR yesterday! They were able to squeeze me in for a cut and style within an hour and were very sweet about my having to bring my 2 little girls with me.
Candace was did an AWESOME job on my long, thick, curly hair! Could not be happier with her work!

I love this place. The atmosphere is great, it doesn’t feel like it’s trying too hard to be trendy like some places– it’s more of a natural, comfortable vibe (but still trendy!). Timothy is the BEST; he’s patient with my indecisiveness and always has great suggestions. And the prices (for cuts, anyway, I haven’t gotten any other services… yet!) are totally reasonable. All in all, I’m glad to have found somewhere close by and where I don’t have to deal with Buckhead/​Midtown parking and driving frustrations. Shear is the place for me!

I found Shear Salon via a daily deal site, and got haircut from Kellie in December. Then this week she did an overall color (fixing some of the weirdness resulting from me using box color for most of the last couple years) and another cut. Both were great!
And here’s why I really like Kellie — she’s completely non-​snotty, non-​judgmental, and non-​critical, while being helpful, offering advice and solutions, and listening to what I want. My hair is — to say the least — a mess. Thinning, messed-​up color, I refuse to have a fashionable cut (I like to be able to pull it into a ponytail) — but she never once made me feel like the dowdy middle-​aged lady I am, and that some stylists would hate having to service. She’s sweet and really makes me feel comfortable, and it’s a bonus that she’s really good at what she does.
I really recommend her! :)

Have had the pleasure of working with Timothy.. He did my foils great and the color lasted so long… Here for a second time. Very excited. More to come

For several years, a good friend of mine had been going to Jodi for all of her coiffing needs, in fact, following Jodi from salon to salon when necessary. She had been urging me (for too long) to visit Jodi, particularly since Jodi now had her own shop — Shear Salon. I resisted, since I was happy with my current stylist, but now that I’ve made the change to Jodi, I couldn’t be happier. Jodi is a perfectionist (in the best sense), über personable, a consummate business woman and a cutie (albeit a happily married one, with two beautiful kiddos).
And more importantly for anyone reading this, she knows how to cut some hair! She also does coloring for my friend and even recently gave her a completely new style with extensions that looks fabulous. It’s clear that she’s also put a lot of thought and attention into the design of her salon — it’s open, inviting and always immaculate.
I tend to go toward the end of the day, but next time will likely go at lunch since it’s convenient to my Buckhead office. Get there early and have a complimentary glass of wine… Jodi does not disappoint!

Molly at Shear Salon is THE BEST! I saw a haircut that I loved on a total stranger. When I asked for her hairdresser’s number, it was Molly. I have thim, fine hair and Molly makes it look thick and full with her cutting technique.
I have to carry Molly’s cards with me as I am always asked who does my hair. Go to Shear Salon and ask for Molly and you’ll find your hair bliss.

I ended up here accidentally and not preparing to get my hair did. I was just hanging out with my aunt who DID have an appointment. One thing led to another, and while she was cooking under Thunder Dome, Jordan gave me a quick snip.
Jordan is friendly and chatty. Some people dislike that, but I’ll say this… she is just being herself. I like that. I always feel uncomfortable when your stylist tries to make conversation but it feels forced. Jordan is one of those «never met a stranger» types, I believe. She works really fast and she did exactly what needed to be done.
The salon is tucked away behind the Office Depot (park in back). The décor is fresh. The staff friendly. Plus, it’s small scale, so you don’t get that cattle call feel of some of the big names. Prices seem pretty reasonable, although I was treated and wasn’t paying too much attention.

I met Liz through my dear friend Caitlin, and was planning to get my hair color BEFORE the new year, but faith has it, I did not have the time. New Year rolls around, and I am happy to say I am newly engaged– and with super dark hair, I felt I needed to work towards getting a lighter and warmer hue. With that in mind, I decided to make an appointment with Liz. I went on Unilocal to look up the address, and BEHOLD, I found a coupon ! Well this made the visit even more enticing.
Parking is a little odd, Park in the Office Depot lot, and walk through the gates that has the Salon sign near it– do not park in the back of the building.
The salon is nice and spacious, but the music is a tad loud to me, but maybe that is just me. Liz was super nice and we had fun talking about my engagement and sharing with her what I wanted in terms of color. She gave great advice on how to go 2 shades lighter without damaging my hair. Her highlight technique was great, very thin and natural, and she touched up on my gray hair in the process as well. The color (roots) and highlights came our very nice. The Price was even better! It was very reasonable. I also was recommended Moroccan-​oil and the styling cream (20% off promo), so I bought it, and was entered into a drawing, which I ended up winning! All in all, Love Love Liz’s hair coloring technique, and side note, the shampoo bowl is very comfy and ergonomic.

Ok so when I saw the location I was a bit worried because not many other businesses are in the same center but when I walked in Shear was alive. I had an online coupon for a cut, color, style which was great since I moved to the area not long ago and needed some serious work. Jessica was my stylist and she was centered, really picked up on what I wanted and went to town. She was totally able create type of style I was looking for as it was a 180 degree change, and gave me a fabulous cut, clean and chic… Oh and she snips with confidence… really, no fooling around and yet never once went to far and asked for feedback throughout the process. Couldn’t have ask for more!
The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars was that:
a. I think she was more shy than I to take my hair as short as I wanted it, maybe afraid I’d regret it. What I ended up with is a bit longer than I wanted but it’s a gorgeous cut. As mentioned I went for a total change.
b. It was such a fabulous experience that I wonder if it was beginner’s luck! I’ll definitely go back a second time and if she does it again she’s officially my new hair guru! Then they’ll so deserve that 5^th star.

Great atmosphere! Everyone is friendly and service oriented. Cookies and beverages are a nice added touch. Reasonably priced and quality cuts.

I loved Shear Salon! I went for my first time a couple weeks ago. It has a very friendly and hip atmosphere with a very knowledgable staff. I saw Liz for a cut a color. Its very rare for me to find a stylist who actually LISTENS to what I want– and I leave with exactly what I want– and Liz does exactly that! I love my new hair color and cut and will definitely be back. I found my permanent hair stylist & salon!

I got a hair trim by Jordan. She was super chatty, but nice… I was tired since I came at the end of a work day, but she didn’t really seem to notice that I didn’t want to make small talk and asked me questions throughout the cut & style.
But she did a good job on my haircut, and was super fast. I got a wash, cut, and blow dry in about 30 minutes.
I got a Half Off Depot coupon– so only paid $ 18 for $ 40 haircut. Can’t beat that!
Shear Salon was a little hard to find. The sign is not very prominent. It’s the first suite in the brick-​looking complex. The metal fence looks locked, but it’s not. Park in the back of the complex (there’s a small lot)

Loved the look style, and the work of Shear so thankful a friend told me about Ashley
