High points were the sauces(savory and sweet) and the quiet, casual old-house atmosphere. My friend had been here several times and brought me on a Wednesday night. We got there after 8(closing is 9) and things seemed to be winding down, with just a couple of other tables occupied. To start off, we just split a salad, which was nothing to write home about — those prepackaged Romaine strips and some winter tomatoes and onions. No bread basket, a little surprisingly for a French restaurant. Our entrees were cassoulet and beef with Roquefort sauce. He loved the cassoulet, which included a duck leg along with large chunks of sausage, white beans and possibly pork, I’m not sure(I’m not a big fan of cassoulet in general — too salty). My beef was no more tender than it ought to be, but had good flavor and the sauce was intense and delicious. I was glad the server/proprietor warned me when ordering that the rice had cumin, because the mashed potatoes were a much better match. Coarse mash, the way I happen to like them, and seasoned just right. Presentation was homey rather than haute, which is fine with me. I inquired what cut the beef was and they weren’t sure, so they brought out a frozen vacuum-packed steak to show me. Lean, about 6 ounces, maybe sirloin? For dessert we split an order of chestnut-brandy crepes. Highly recommended! Again, not much to the presentation, but the sauce/filling was killer, very brandified. We made a point of BYOB since that’s what it said on the Web site, but were surprised to see a wine list when we got there. $ 4 per person corkage fee was a little steep, but at least we knew about it in advance. Prices in general were very reasonable. Since it’s a family-owned place, we felt bad about staying 45 minutes beyond their stated closing time, but the Vietnamese lady was gracious and acted like it was no problem. All in all, a very pleasant experience!

Roaches in the dining room and hair in my food. I wanted to like this place but I have concerns about their food safety. They seem to have ongoing issues with their health inspections: .

Little gem on clairmont road. Lots of excellent options. Everything tastes great. For desert, try the rum flan; Muah! The host and cook are always flexible in altering the preparation to meet the customer’s demands. I am looking forward to my next trip to this spot.

It’s certainly old fashioned but the food was really good and super affordable. Atmosphere is really lacking and a little strange. Attentive service and for a corkage fee you can bring your own wine. Will definitely go back.

What Kin N. said. A great find. First went for a quick supper before a concert at Oglethorpe. The crepes were soooo good(I had sea food, my friend, chicken) we asked for more bread to sop up the sauce. And I asked my family to take me for my birthday dinner. I had the duck. I don’t recommend. My son said the menu indicated«pieces» so unless they have changed to serve breast with crispy skin, have something else. We split a memorable chocolate something four ways. Add to list: A good restaurant is better than an expensive one

Finally, a traditional French restaurant that doesn’t cost an arm and a leg! So stoked to discovered this gem tucked in Chamblee, next to Dekalb Peachtree Airport. It’s located in an unassuming house so it can be easy to miss. Limited parking at the front, but additional parking is available across Lawson Drive. Interior of the building is minimally decorated and the dishes are not beautifully plated like other French restaurants, but who cares, I’m here for the food. Here are what we ordered and how each dish fared: Appetizers Escargots a la Bourgogne — Escargots are… well, you go find out. Don’t wanna freak you out. It was flavorful but a little overcooked(hence rubbery). 4 Stars. Gratin de Saint Jacques — It’s a killer dish. Fresh, perfectly cooked scallops with creamy, decadent bechamel sauce. 5 Stars Entrees Boeuf Sauce Roquefort — This is a surprise and I think was the best dish we ordered that night. The description doesn’t sound too special but one of us ordered it anyway. I sampled the beef and it was tender with great grilled flavor. 5 Stars Canard Sauce Mangue et pêche — The description was intriguing so I ordered it. It’s a duck leg braised in peach and mango sauce, coriander, olive oil and paprika. As one can imagine, the sauce is sweet, but by adding coriander, it adds anther layer of flavor that balance the sweetness well. 4.5 Stars Cassoulet Toulousain — A slow cooked stew of duck confit, pork, sausage, beans, tomato sauce and herbs… another very delicious dish. My friend who ordered t said there might even be pâté or foir gras in there… she wasn’t sure. 4.5 Stars Salmon Sauce Be’Chamel au Champignon — Wife ordered salmon… boring, right? wrong! The chef did a great job of transforming this boring meat into a light, flavorful chunk of meat that’s delicious even in the middle. 5 Stars. Desserts Crème Brulee — The biggest disappointment of the night. It’s served warm, but as we worked our way from one side to the other of the ramekin, temperature changed from warm to room temperature to slightly chilled — weird huh! The custard is average with not much vanilla flavor. The worst part is the caramelized sugar. It was soggy — so bad that you can peel off the entire sheet of caramelized sugar like skin. 2 Stars. Another negative at the restaurant is the server. She can definitely improve her charm and enthusiasm. Our friends noticed the same too… even those who came here on a different night and recommended this restaurant to us. Overall, I would come here again because the food is just sooooo good. Saw the picture of some dishes offered for lunch and the look even better. Had to deduct a star for the subpar dessert and unfriendly service.

I must have passed this place half a dozen times before I have tried it. A friend recommended I check it out, so I stopped by for lunch. Great little place to eat I must say, my shrimp crêpe was delicious and piping hot. Home-like atmosphere, I look forward to coming for dinner on my next visit!

Amazingly well prepared, flavorful food. Nice wine selection, crêpe desserts all at a very reasonable price. They were out of a few of the wines and desserts and service is a bit slow, but we will definitely be back.

I agree with qualitative assessments posted but quantitatively a three is all there is. This place is an asset for Chamblee.

Looking for the first meal out on New Years Day of 2015 decided to go through the ever growing list of bookmarks on Unilocal and was not disappointed. While driving on Buford Hwy. decided was in the mood for something different hit the bookmark key scrolled down and voila. This restaurant is in a small unassuming house you will pass right by it if you don’t know what your looking for? That being said there is a small kink in the Unilocal GPS it will have you turning right a street before where you should actually be. Walking in service was off to a shaky start but managed to work it out Eventually the music was turned on and the staff started to find their rhythm. Chicken Crêpes was what I was there for and was not disappointed. Two large crepes were filled with white meat chicken, spinach and a yummy sauce then covered with cheese. There wasn’t a single thing left on the plate when done. The Croquet-Misour is a hearty lunch with the two pieces of sliced bread filled with your choice of filling and topped with mushrooms, spinach and white sauce(ham, Swiss and scrambled eggs for us). The first time it was tried there were no green peppers in it the second time there was, sister and I agreed while yummy it throws the dish off. This is a «no frills» kind of place service is straight forward and simple you won’t be offered juice, toast or perhaps a salad to start if you want it ask for it and you will be charged accordingly. The prices for lunch and brunch are about the same you would pay at any drive through so try something different, relax and stay awhile. Enjoy.

I finally got to try this place out this week and I more than delighted with their food. I tried rabbit and duck for the first time, and I am happy to say I will definitely be going back for more in the future. If you want a no nonsense restaurant with well priced food, this restaurant is for you.

I can’t take credit for finding the cheapest rabbit dish in Atlanta, but here it is, at Au Rendez-vous. The most inauspicious restaurant I have ever seen, the sign looks like an auto shop sign. Hours: Open Sunday night until 8, contrary to the Unilocal’s business hours. We moved up our dinner plans from 7:30 to 6:45 for this reason. Parking: About five parking spots are available in front of the restaurant, and an additional side lot is across the street, reserved for restaurant parking only. Interior: Very homey, it really looks like they took an old house, tore down all the walls and made it into a restaurant. There was more than enough seating for everyone. Food: We decided to order many dishes to share. We chose three appetizers first: Escargots a la Bourgogne($ 8): served with bread, comes with 6. The sauce and seasoning on the escargots were amazing, I just wanted to keep dipping the remainder of my white bread in the minimal sauce remnants. The escargot were very hot though, as I burned the roof of my mouth… Fried Calamari($ 5): what is this. Looks like onion rings, with very similar batter. Comes with cocktail dipping sauce. Even though it’s cheap, not worth it. Avoid this dish. Gratin de Saint Jacques($ 6): sea scallops baked with leek & béchamel sauce. Came with maybe three scallops covered with sauce and leeks, and some mushrooms in the mix. This was better than the calamari by far, but my favorite appetizer was still the escargot. We then moved on to entrees, and we each ordered separate dishes with at least a bite of each for taste: Boeuf Grille Sauce Tamarin($ 12.50) — my choice order. We asked for a medium rare cook. The mashed potatoes came with the dish. The mashed potatoes were fluffy but nothing special, although it went well with the tart tamarin sauce. I wasn’t a huge fan of the sauce but the meat was cooked well. There were maybe 6 – 8 slices of beef, with maybe half cooked medium rare and the other half cooked at medium or medium well. But those medium rare slices were amazing. Boeuf Bourguignon($ 11.99) — quite tasty. I preferred my beef dish but my friend cleaned this stewed beef up. The sauce was similar to the rabbit marinade. Canard et Gesiers Sautees Sauce Vin Rouge($ 12.99) — this was the dish of the night. Tender duck cooked in a sweet sauce. I was very jealous of this order and the brief taste I got. A must order. Lapin Roti Sauce Moutarde($ 13.50) — the reason why we came to this restaurant was for this rabbit dish. My friend asked for a side order of couscous instead of the potatoes or wild rice that was traditionally offered as a side. The couscous was light and fluffy, although he wasn’t a fan of the raisins. The rabbit had a similar sauce to the Bouef Bourguinon but may have had a slightly more alcohol flavor to it. The meat was tender and not overcooked. «Tastes like chicken.» Cassoulet Toulousain($ 12.99) — reminded me of chili. The flavors were probably the best at the table, in terms of the saltier sauce, as opposed to the other sauces we experienced as sweeter or tarter. A lot of meat and protein, for the meat lovers. Service: Somewhat slow, but maybe that was because we were hungry. The restaurant was pretty empty, but people were still walking in half an hour before closing. The sweet Asian owner/server spoke impeccable French(from the brief words we heard her speak) and seemed to be the only person working the store, although I’m sure the cooks were busy in the back. You can’t complain about cheap but good quality food. Only in Chamblee!

Went here for lunch after checking out the review on Unilocal. For appetizer we ordered the porkpate with bread… after recently having the imported pâté from paris, this taste like junk in comparison. It was too salty and little for the price. you get 3 small slice of breads and 1 small scoop of pâté… For entrée we ordered the duck and salmon crêpe. … Horrendous to say the least. The salmon was not fresh at all. There was this stingy after taste like it has been sitting out for a week. good grief, it was so bad that the hot sauce i put over it did not wash the taste away. The rabbit was over cook and chewy. Finally, the server is the owner, whom was very unfriendly. Stay away is my suggestion!

Cute little house Chicken crepes Beef bourginon Rabit a la moutarde So full I wanted to go out to dinner one weekend somewhere different than the usual haunts my boyfriend and I favor. He mentioned Au Rendez-Vous, a little restaurant he’d gone to with some of his guy friends for dinner a while ago, and French sounded good, so we decided to give it our business. We arrived at this unobtrusive little restaurant right off Clairmont Rd on a Saturday night around 7:30 or so, but it wasn’t busy at all. Au Rendez-Vous inhabits what used to be a little house and you can tell as soon as you step in the door. It still looks very much like a house: the main rooms have been turned into dining areas, but I think the kitchen is still where it was originally. Either way, I was charmed when we stepped in and were seated to one side near the little outdoor patio. If you think French restaurants are supposed to be pretentious, this is the exact opposite: no airs, no snootiness, none of that. Just really good French food, and a nice place to have a leisurely dinner with good conversation. I could tell as soon as we entered as there was another table occupied by six, two of whom were holding forth in French. We both ordered a glass of wine(you can’t not in a French restaurant, can you?), and we also ordered two appetizers of the chicken crepes at my boyfriend’s suggestion. For our main courses, I ordered the lapin roti a la sauce moutarde(rabbit cooked in mustard sauce) with rice, and my boyfriend got the beef bourguignon with mashed potatoes. I wished we’d decided to split the chicken crepes when they came out: each appetizer came with two, large crepes, and I was concerned we might not have room for our entrees after them. The crepes were delicious: lots of chicken, spinach and mushrooms(?) and a sauce poured over it all. Yum yum, and filling. Our entrees looked(and smelled) delicious when they came out from the kitchen. Again, good sized portions to be sure — especially for the prices. The rabbit was very tasty and rich and I had a bite of the beef bourguignon too — very tender and tasty. I don’t think I was quite able to finish off my entrée, but it was pretty close and I was stuffed. The dessert menu looked quite appetizing: ice creams, crepes of all kinds and even smoothies, but I just couldn’t do it that night. I’d love to go back sometime in the future to try it though. Very nicely done, Au Rendez-Vous — you’re a great little neighborhood gem.

We shared a duck pâté appetizer, which was very rich but tasty. My girlfriend had the rabbit with mash potatoes, and really enjoyed it. I had the salmon and mash potatoes along spinach. Cooked properly and very tasty! It’s a casual, simple restaurant. No table cloths — just paper place mats :) Not noisy at all, and easy to have a quiet conversation. The crêpe dessert was outstanding. When we go back, we might try crepes for the entrée. Overall, this is a good restaurant for the value. Very fairly priced.

This is my new go-to place! I loved it! I’m tempted to give Au Rendezvous five stars already, but I’ll hold off until after a few more visits. Au Rendezvous is located right off Clairmont Rd. in Chamblee — almost directly across the street from the public library. The restaurant space is simple and welcoming, as previous Unilocalers have mentioned it’s not at all a pretentious or stuffy, though I’ll admit the home setting threw me a little. but only until my first bite. The BF and I decided to start with their smaller entress instead of the apps, he had the ‘salmon crêpe’($ 7) and I chose a croque monsieur($ 5; the beef and blue cheese option). I was a bit skeptical about the crêpe, I normally don’t enjoy the savory ones(Au Rendezvous also has dessert options), but this one is delicious! The sauce was damn good, even after the crêpe was done with, I found myself scraping its remnants off the plate; the salmon was well cooked, and I enjoyed the mushroom combination. The croque monsieur(one of my main reasons for the visit) did not disappoint, it was a nice presentation, and the blue cheese was perfectly melted over the roast beef. Finally, the BF and I split the ‘beef tenderloin’($ 11.50), there was an option to have it either with rice or mashed potatoes, we chose the mashed potatoes — they were a solid side, but they came out piping hot! The beef tenderloin was lovely, it was well cooked — very tender and flavorful — I love the sauce it came in, there were delicious notes of sweetness that had me scraping at my plate yet again! The service was nice, we were greeted as soon as we entered, sat, and orders taken soon after. I assume our server was one of the owners(a petite Vietnamese woman) — she made sure we had everything we needed and checked in on us and the other table frequently. There is a very slight language barrier for non –Vietnamese speakers, but nothing challenging. She understood everything we wanted and executed accordingly. I can’t wait to come back, it’s such a good price point for a delightful taste of France!
