I often go to local store but they usually do not have what I want, I also go to the one by my job they too often when checking their computer say Chambersburg store has it. Why I don’t just go there first is beyond me. The workers seem to be very helpful from product selection to purchase to loading and delivery. I purchased a sink today before they loaded it the noticed it was cracked, Sandra helped me find another one in stock, inspected it for damage and helped at the register and got me help loading it in the rain!

In Chambersburg, Lowe’s seems to have the best selection in many home improvement areas. Disclaimer: I’m more of a Home Depot fan. They seem to have cleaner stores with higher quality merchandise. But because there is not a Home Depot in Chambersburg, I can’t really compare it to Lowe’s. Lowe’s has a very broad selection of home improvement and gardening items. In the summer, their plants are very well priced, although I’d rather look at Lurgan Greenhouse first. Lowe’s also has a large seasonal section. Many of their Christmas items are marked down considerably after the season is over, so you can get some pretty good deals around then. Although they don’t have nearly as many registers open as Home Depot, the lines are never too terribly long. For a home improvement store, Lowe’s seems to balance selection and convenience pretty well.

We’ve certainly patronized this Chambersburg Lowe’s many, many times. It’s a great Lowe’s. Their garden center is nice, although this year it seems they slacked a bit in keeping things watered. They have a nice, large parking lot, but it can fill up quite a bit on a busy weekend day. Several years ago we bought a washer and dryer and had them delivered to our home. The buying process was good, of course, the sales person tried to upsell a bit, but that IS their job. Delivery was very quick. The delivery guys set it up with hot and cold water backwards, but mistakes happen. It was a pretty hot day and they had to climb up to the third floor with both machines, so I forgave the set-up oversight. At least they were friendly! We’re at this Lowe’s frequently, hubby more than me. He tries to always go to the same cashier who is super friendly. He had one cashier recently who was a real grouch, but luckily the general staff is not like that. Anyone we’ve asked for help in the aisles have been really nice. This seems like a well-run Lowe’s.

I went in to get some planting soil and a few other items like weed ‘n ’ feed. At the Garden Center check out the cashier was waiting for the manager for a «void.» There were no other check outs open. So we waited, and waited, and waited, about 10 minutes. Once the void was processed(simple matter of scanning a bar code on the back of the manager’s ID tag) the customer in front of me apologized for the delay, and I said, it wasn’t her fault. When the cashier asked me how I was doing, I wanted to tell her the truth but took the high road and made small talk. She did NOT apologize to me and the others behind me in line that had the extended wait. I worked at The Other Big Box Home Improvement Store in VA for nearly 8 months as a cashier until late March of this year and this type of situation would be rare because cashiers are«empowered.» Also, the manager frequently would have been the one speaking to each person in line that was inconvenienced.

This is the best of the Lowe’s. Pam is by far the friendliest manager I have met at a Home Improvement store. The staff is always there to answer questions and help you find what you need. Great selection, reasonable price.
