Jo-Ann Fabrics is for the serious sewer and knitter! As a general craft store, I would no give Jo-Ann 5 stars. This is a relatively small location, so their crafts only comprise a small portion of the store. Most of the store is dedicated to knitting/crocheting yarn, sewing supplies, patterns, and of course, fabrics. I can’t think of a chain craft store with such a broad variety of fabrics to choose from. Walmart and Hobby Lobby only have small fabric selections, and Michael’s doesn’t offer it all. Therefore, Jo-Ann is the best option for serious sewers and quilters. I’ve found sewing supplies in there that I could not find anywhere else in Chambersburg, so it’s a great place to look for hard-to-find supplies. Jo-Ann knows how to sell fabrics, and they do it extremely well.

After receiving a sewing machine as a gift a couple of years ago, I went to JoAnn to get some thread. I had no idea what to get, so I sought the assistance of an older sales associate. She was rude and belittled me for my lack of knowledge. That negative experience kept me away for awhile, but since then I’ve been back and it’s been better. While I haven’t asked for any help, checking out has always been pleasant and easy, although sometimes you have to wait in line for a bit. Even the day they were having problems after a power outage they managed to be nice. I like that they carry items different from the other two craft stores in Chambersburg. They have a nice selection of jewelry making supplies and beads. This store is perfect for sewers, tons of fabrics and threads. Prices are ok, although you’re likely to get a better deal from Michael’s for non-sewing craft supplies. Store is always neat and well stocked, only occasionally will they be out of something.
