What a cool shop and farm!
I was in the area for the burning and ransoming of Chambersburg celebration. As we left the diner and our morning foraging *wink* we spotted the sign kinda tucked away.
Fun place to take kids and a great place to find unique gifts. I got this Belgium chocolate soap with hazelnuts that was FABULOUS… in fact, I am still nursing that bar.
Lovely display of bees under glass which is very educational AND I found the queen. I can’t tell you how THAT made my day.
MUST GO destination IF you find yourself in Chambersburg.

Benders has a petting zoo and plenty of local produce, honey and fruit. Located just off of 81 and Lincoln Way east in Chambersburg, pa. Its a great place to take you children of just visit for fun. The coolest thing was an indoor beehive, that had an entrence /​exit on the outside of the building. Lots of beautiful flowers and plants too!

Bender’s is awesome. i can’t believe it’s taken me this long to check it out. very cute place to bring the kids to get pumpkins. some nice farm animals to pet or feed. all sorts of yummy treats inside with lots of free samples. potatoes, of course, but also other produce, novelty pasta, honey, decorations, pumpkins, etc. a nice bee hive too to watch. definitely would frequent this place if i lived close by.

This is a great place with alot of character. Shawn did nail it when he said it was a fantastic, classic «country store». The fresh produce is mostly local and if not, they can tell you exactly where if came from. I have also enjoyed buying fresh herbs there when available. The prices are pretty much unbeatable and everything is so fresh. The petting zoo and the bee hive they have in a case inside the store are always a hit when neice and nephew are in town – plus it is free.

I agree with Shawn H. A nice place to go for produce and the petting zoo makes it fun if you have time to check it out. Like many businesses in the area, it is closed on Sunday.

This is a fantastic, classic «country store» kind of place that has a petting zoo outside. Wonderful, fresh produce inside and farm animals outside make for quite an experience that you will not forget.
Benders also sells some crafts in the store along with regional items and the fresh produce. There is a butcher shop right down the street, making this a great stop in preparing for a cookout or party.
