Keep on driving and go to the original Par 3 not Par 3 Café!!! I am not a fan of food in St. Bernard Parish(with the exception of MeMe’s) but let me tell you, this is by far the WORST food I’ve ever had out there! We ordered«chilli» cheese fries and they were absolutely disgusting. The«chilli» was just chunks of ground meat in a VERY light red sauce. Both the chilli and the fries had no taste. I had a cup of the chicken and sausage gumbo, wasn’t horrible but wasn’t worth the $ 5 either considering it was half ice cold and half hot as hell. They didn’t mix it after they obviously took it out of the microwave. I ordered the Philly cheese steak which was referred by the waitress and my husband ordered the veal cutlet poboy. The bread was very odd, sort of like a hot dog bun and a flat bread combined but the width of a hot dog bun. My Philly was tender but had no flavor and my husbands veal was probably the cheapest cut of meat they could find with again, no flavor. The veal was huge chunk of meat instead of the normal thin layers most places serve.(if you want a good veal poboy, go to Jeanfreau’s down the street) We had to salt and pepper everything we were served and we never add salt to anything. We were given 2 pieces of Apple Walnut Pie for free. This was probably the best part of the meal. It was ok but nothing fancy. I think that a frozen pie from the store has much more flavor. Unless this place gets a new cook and new recipes, I do not see it lasting.

This location has changed names many times over the years. The last one before the current restaurant was Margarettes, and there food was pretty good. When i seen the Margarettes sign come down and a new one go up and the name was Par 3 Café i figured it was a smaller version of Par 3 Dinner further down Paris Rd. When we walked in it was still set up like Margarettes but felt a little less crowded with the smaller tables. The Waitress greeted us right away with a very friendly attitude. We wasn’t sure what to order at first, so we ordered a cup of Gumbo and some Chili Cheese Fries. We finalized our decision on a Philly Cheese Steak and a Veal Poboy. Our Appetizer came out about 10 min after we ordered, It was cold in some spots and very hot in others as if it was microwaved. It didn’t have much flavor, then came our chili Cheese Fries, Well those sucked as well, They put shredded cheese over Flavorless Chili over Generic Crappy Restaurant fries. No kidding the chili had no flavor, Hormel chili taste ten times better, we didn’t even eat half of it. About ten more min our food comes out, right away i had a feeling we were not going to like our Poboys. First the Bread looked like long Hot dog buns, and had a very dense texture, my veal was nothing special, it was like they had scraps of Veal leftover, battered and deep fried. My wife had the Philly Cheese Steak, hers was a little better, but still tasted like they just threw meat and onions on a grill and scooped up on a roll. The meat was tender i will give them that, but overall the steak sandwich had no flavor. We decided to save the other half’s of our Poboys for later after we have been out drinking and to drunk to care what our food taste like. My wife decided to try there Walnut Apple pie, they offered us two slices for free so i figured what the hell why not. Well it wasn’t horrible but neither good, we got what we paid for. Didn’t seem like it was baked long enough and not much flavor. Our bill was higher then i thought our wood was worth, we wanted to give this place a try and maybe one day will give them another try but i know that wont be for a long time. We first talked about coming back the next morning for breakfast after seeing someone order it, but after tasting the flavorless food we quickly changed our minds. Don’t know if they are the same people that run the Par 3 Dinner further down Paris Rd, but i hate to say it but this placed sucked. The people working there were really nice, but unless they make major changes i don’t see this place staying open for long.
