I’ll admit, I’ve been going to this place for over 4 yrs. but due to the ridiculously high priced services I’ve been venturing to other salons in hopes of finding an equally skilled stylist– and I can’t! I love my stylist, Shawn; she is beautiful, strong and I’ve never walked out of that salon disappointed with her work(until 2 Thurs. ago). In fact, my profile pic was taken shortly after she cut, dyed, & styled my hair yrs ago. However, I’ve become increasingly annoyed with the salon itself, roughly 2 weeks ago I wanted to try something new & let Shawn do whatever she wanted to my hair. I am not unhappy with her work(I don’t like my color or cut but it’s not her fault– I was trying something out of my comfort zone & it’s just not me). What I was angry with was the cost, my normal expense is $ 150.00 plus I always tip her $ 50.00. But this time it cost me $ 250.00 !!! And I honestly felt like I had just walked out of Best Cuts and that I could’ve done exactly what I paid for myself for way cheaper. The cost of each service is not posted anywhere in the salon nor on their website– annoying!!! I also find some of their workers to be rude, one of them being the owner who is abrupt & uninviting on the phone but a completely different person face to face. I’m not sure what that’s all about but I hate calling to schedule an appointment! Then there’s another younger stylist(we’ll call her Jersey Shore) who washed out my hair while Shawn worked on another client. No «hello», no smile, no nothing– just complete silence– she was definitely angry about something or at someone but when I’m paying these prices I expect better customer service. I would’ve been happy with a simple ‘Hi”, honestly. Anyways, I’m not saying don’t go here– there’s a reason why I keep coming back I just wish there was a way to get my hair done by Shawn outside of the salon. Also, I’ve had Jessica do my hair as well & was equally happy with her work as well.

I went to Diane Joseph’s Salon for a simple shoulder length hair cut and left an hour and fifteen minutes later with a crooked chin length hairdo. I spoke with the owner on the telephone and we set up a time for me to come in so she could fix my hair. When I walked through the door, she commented on how it was a good thing I wasn’t wearing a bulky sweater today. I asked if she was suggesting it was my fault my hair was crooked because I was wearing a sweater when I came the first time but she walked away to bring the original stylist back. I was very surprised to discover she intended on having this young woman(who is very nice but seems to be learning still) fix my hair being that on the telephone, the owner told me she would take care of me. Instead, I spent the next forty-five minutes sitting in the chair of the young stylist who originally messed up my hair, and at no point did Suzanne, the owner, come over to check the work. When all is said and done, my hair is still(quite) crooked, and though I am actually used to having it this length, it’s shorter than I was anticipating. Before I left, I wanted to express my disappointment to the owner. I was very surprised because I don’t feel she was concerned with whether or not I was actually pleased at any point. I’ve been in the customer service industry for thirteen years and have never blamed anything on a customer. If Diane Joseph’s Salon was concerned with professionalism and customer service, things would have happened very differently today. I feel sorry for that young stylist because after the way the owner had acted towards me, there was no way she was going to make me happy. I do realize this is a rather long review but want to conclude by saying I joined Unilocal just to write it. My family and I had been going to another salon for the past thirty years but the owners recently retired. Both of these salons are within walking distance of each other and my house. My mother and I had tried Diane Joseph’s a number of times since then but neither of us will be returning. I truly value feeling respected as a customer and will therefore try one of the other countless salons within a two mile radius. Such a lovely salon. So much personality. When you walk in Suzanne always makes you feel welcome and like family. All the girls are great and experienced. Best salon in Chagrin Falls by far!
